I see what you did here. But you're missing one thing, he didn't explain how he arrived at his conclusions but stated that the foundation the Goldman rule lies wouldn't allow psychiatric evaluation in most courtroom proceedings. Furthermore, even with the rule applied, it merely states that an armchair diagnosis can not be given on the basis of *public* record. He also had access to private/confidential records. And last of all: he hasn't provided a diagnosis with respect to the term "professional opinion".

Happens all the time. I remember 1 expert witness, also a doc, testified in a cold case. One of the questions was somthing like, "did you write an autopsy 20 years ago saying this type of head trauma had to be inflicted by another person"? (Because the Dr was saying the opposite at that point) The Dr responded, "Maybe. Probably actually, back then I hadn't seen it enough & wasn't nearly as experienced as now. I made that mistake a lot back then"
Well... your medical opinion back then made him a murder suspect, and although they didn't have enough evidence the cold case officer working the case had a million notes about his guilt, and built a case that shouldn't have been built.

The double-speak this psychiatrist is engaging in is nuts. He emphatically claims he isn't being unethical because he isn't making a diagnosis, then emphatically claims it is what he is thinking and that it is splitting hairs to make a differentiation between the traits and a diagnosis. Not to mention he is incredibly argumentative. what a bizarre expert witness to call. He isn't helping Amber's case at all.

This doctor / gentleman needs some kind of diagnosis on himself - he clearly has some condition to mouth off before somebody asks anything ?

@@theworldofjuniperthecat1307 hahaha so awful notion but .... 40 years ago, as a kid, we already knew psychologist were a bit... psycho...
(In the sake of full disclosure, I love psychology, have studied psychology myself, and can't consider myself "not odd"... I guess is causality in this case and not just correlation. Modern psychology like CBT and the like is proven to work)

The lawyer was excellent in letting him ramble on. I bet the jury hated him and mentally checked out after about 5 minutes.
