Excellent video. This solved my issue for sure. Innovation on what to use to help pull the new rod up...I took one of the old ones and bent it over at the spring so you have some sort of a handle. Already has a perfect hook on the other end. You also know it will fit through the hole!
Thanks for great advice! Replacing shocks worked, plus saved me a lot of money doing a really simple job myself! You're an awesome teacher, I followed every step, even taping down the lid!
Saved me buying a new washer! Took 2.5 hours. The first spring was the hardest. The wire hook was genius. Decided to recruit a neighbor for the final spring...arms a little weary by the fourth one, especially trying to clip the top holder properly.
Thanks!
I can confirm this fixed my Maytag Centennial washer which had been violently banging around during the rinse and spin cycles (for too long I'm ashamed to say). I have model MVWC200XW3 and bought rods with part # W10780048 from RepairClinic. EXCELLENT video! My screws in the back were slightly different (and you need a 1/4" socket). I didn't have to remove the drain line and used jack stands to hold the front and back up. Like in the video, i used a coat hanger with the ends wrapped around a wrench to lift the rods into place. Take pictures of the plastic rod holders beforehand. I recommend doing only two rods at a time, or just one at a time if you aren't confident in your arm strength. The bounce test is on point! Drum was really loose (I'd describe it) before and bounced a couple times (didn't seem like a lot at the time). With new rods the drum firmly and smoothly resets to the level position after a push. Tested with a large load and have a smooth spin. Thanks for the video! It convinced me my suspension rods were bad and took me less than an hour!
You’re welcome and thank you for a detail comment that helps people 💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Great stuff, just fixed same washer with $50.00 Amazon kit. Saved $300.00 bucks .Thank you my man...Subbed Liked and shared...
What was the part number or part called
Thanks for the video! My 14 y/o Maytag Bravos had gotten to the point where it couldn't even complete a cycle without throwing multiple uL codes. I was able to replace all the suspension springs from the top side, which made the repair super easy. I did need my wife to hold the tub in the opposite corner from where I was working while connecting and disconnecting. I have small-ish arms and was able to use the vice grips to pull the old rod up enough to disconnect it from the plastic bearing at the top, then let it down in the cabinet. My arm was just long enough to reach in and unclip the lower blue clip piece from the tub and just slide out the whole old assembly. From there, I reversed the process with the new assembly and was usually able to get the blue clip to attach itself on the tub. On one or two, I had to reach in and help it, but it was no problem. The vice grips were then used to pull the rod up through the hole (I didn't need the wire loop trick) and put the new bearing on. I hope anyone reading this will be able to save themselves quite a bit of wrangling and try the repair from the top first.
Glad My Video Was Helpful and You Were Able to Fix Your Washer! Thanks for Watching!
Excellent video! I did my installation myself and couldn't be happier. I was about to buy a new washer, and I said I would give it a shot. I'm so glad I did!
You did a great job Bro on the video, Thank you!
You’re welcome I am glad my video can help👍🏻👍🏻💯
I just used your wire trick!!!!!!!wow. After thirty minutes, I’ve done lg. this worked perfect. Thanks
I created a new tool to be able to do this repair easier. I will have it for sale in a couple days. Thanks for your comment. Here is the link for the tour.November 17, 2022

Yes, thank you so much. I am a 62 year old female and not very mechanical. But we got ripped off when the prior washer failed and we bought a used washer but immediately had the same problems with the new washer. So, this time I am determined to fix it myself. Your video was very detailed and told me everything I needed to know to get the cover open (warning, I did slam the damn thing on my hand and bang it up pretty badly) For the rest of the repairs, I will wear gloves. Anyways, I was able to diagnose the problem and use the link you provided to order the correct parts. Can't wait to finish fixing this thing all by my big self!!! Thank you so much!!!
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video 💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Should not have these problems. Maytag went cheap the last few years. Had a 30 year old maytag that we had to replace because the tub rusted out. The centennial we bought shakes so bad it moved across the floor and pulled the drain hose out of the wall port and its only a few years old. This is the perfect example of corporate greed now days. Dollars over quality. This new hanging tub with struts is a joke. “Load sensing” is crap. I miss the old style that never had shaking issues and only took 1/2 the time. And I could choose the water level…….
Thank you for this!
We have this exact washer purchased in 2016.
In the last month, it has become insanely loud on spin cycle. Painfully loud.
Came looking for a fix I can do since I've already fixed its counterpart, the dryer, before.
This seems very easy to handle.
Great vid! Had to improvise with a cut up metal clothes hanger in place of the wire you suggested. Had the wifey hold the washer while I replaced the springs. Took about half an hour. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for all the helpful tips. Wish I watched the video a week ago. I replaced the centering springs but of course they did not solve the problem. Will be ordering the shocks today.
How do actual helpful videos not get around? This is one of the very good videos.
Thank you 🙏
Best explanation for this repair that I have watched
I am glad My Video Helped! Thanks 😊
Just finished this repair on my Maytag model # MVWX655DW2
It was my first ever attempt at something like this, but this video was a tremendous help. It’s a little bit tricky to get it just right but follow the directions, and as mentioned in the video, definitely wear some gloves and long sleeves.
A huge thank you for sharing the knowledge, my man! You saved me what was probably a couple hundred dollars in labor charges ✊
Try tightening the flywheel first to fix unbalanced load issues. It worked for me. Turn your washer on its side ( tape the lid shut to prevent it from opening and disconnect the water supply lines) Use a ¼” allen wrench to tighten the flywheel (bolt is in the middle of the round wheel) . It will be tight to turn. You can use a short piece of pipe on your wrench for extra leverage. Wear gloves so if the wrench slips you won’t hurt your hands. Hope it works🤞
Thank you, Man! Great explanation. Ordering new shocks to fix my washer.
A BIG THANK YOU for this video sir.. your guidance helped my son and I in this!!🙏🏻❤️
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video 💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. This indeed fixed my banging problem on my Maytag Bravos 300. Two things I did slightly different. Instead of vise grips, I just pulled the rod with my hand and unclipped it from the holder. Second, instead of a wire I used nylon twine to pull up the hook. The twine comes off very easily. Thanks.
you save me THX YOU LEARNED ALOT NOW I NEED TO FIND AND ORDER THE PARTS
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Did you order parts off the internet if so what website
Great video. I just replaced my "spin puck" (I know it's not called that but the particular thing that engages the spin haha)...
Now it bouncing around like a mofo. Gonna do this repair next. Thanks for the video!
You are awesome and save us lots of time and money. Hope that you are doing well and please keep sharing.

Thank you so much for this video
Hey hey!
I think this is what I'm going through now
I uploaded a short vid
Thanks for explaining this.
It's still under warranty so I just scheduled a service
Thanks for this.
My pleasure!
Thanks did exactly how you showed it. Very helpful.
Glad it helped!
thanks man works great now
I replaced the suspension rods on a two year old machine and noticed the tub was more firm and did not bounce. However it still shook during the spin cycle. I have to do extra small loads when using the machine. I have never had this problem with previous Maytag washers.
Same. Still trying to figure out what the issue is before I just buy a new one…🥺
@@jaysalterifbbpro-mensphysi3982 - I know this is an old post but your problem is likely a cracked stator.
Very helpful video my friend, thanks a lot !!!
Yeah, this is simple and cheap, however be forewarned that there's another failure that can cause these symptoms that are seldom discussed in any of these videos and that's a Stator that has cracks in it. Maytag and Whirlpool washers with direct drive motors seem to have this defect.
Like many I did this repair and the washer continued its violent shaking. Then I did the bearings and seal...same thing... Wifey is now discouraged and pizzed.
When I did the bearings and seal I noticed a few cracks in the stator housing. I read one or two posts on google regarding this but was skeptical that this could be the cause of the violent shaking and was reluctant to spend $200+ for a new stator if it didn't fix the problem.
I removed the stator and placed it in an oven @275F for an hour to open the cracks up and afterwards used epoxy (loctite 9462) to fill the cracks when still hot. I then placed a band clamp around the stator to pull it together and let it set for 12 hours+.
Wala, the washer ran like new. No shaking. This is a temporary fix and have since replaced the stator with a new one on amazon. All is right in the world now (wifey is happy again😏)!
Thanks for making this video !
I faithfully followed these instructions. Here is what I have done. Changed the suspension springs or shocks, new drive hub, new agitator (not easy to remove), and leveled the washer. It still shakes badly when beginning a spin cycle. I saw one place that there is a liquid filled ring to surpress the shaking. Do you know anything about that? Thanks Charles
Very informative thank you
This helped me so much! Thank you!
You're so welcome! Thanks for Watching!
Thank you so much for sharing... it really help
You are so welcome! Happy to Help, Thanks for Watching!
great video! this gave me the confidence to replace the shock, do you have a link for the part?
Link to Purchase Parts are in the Description of this Video. Thanks for the Support!
Thanks for this video. Fixing a friends and changing the shocks did not seem to help. A repair man told them their tub separated from the inner tub. That turns out to be nonsense. It looks like reprogramming may be the answer. I try that and check back. Thanks again.
Did reprogramming work?
Great video, thanks Amigo!
My pleasure! Thanks For Watching!
Awesome video...you saved me time and $$$..💪
Lol you do this everyday I have never done this and thyou and pretty much figured to use the old struts to do the same thing as the waste time funny piece of wire. I just popped old strut out then slide new one in it's place stuck old strut down in hole from top pulled up and done I literally did this project with one screw gun with no bit on all guns it's 1/4 inch so that fut right on screws lol then a metal pry pic like dentist use and my hands washer all fixed good as new thanks for video
I use the rod itself as a hanger to pull it up and out. This trick speeds it up tremendously.
Great Tip! Thanks for Watching!
I have lineman pliers...are they the best tool to use?
This guy is good
Thank you
Great video
Thanks for your comment💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much❤
Awesome job thank you so much
You are very welcome!
Check the level of your washer as well…I changed out the suspension rods, no change. Adjusted the legs to get my washer level, added the four springs around the suspension rods and to the tub, and now it’s back to normal. This wasn’t too bad.
Thanks for your comment I’m glad my video can help💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
@@DIYRepairsNow Hello there Sir. My wife is telling me that washer shakes a a lot and the spin cycle is not working ( cloths are super wet )
Is this the cause of that problem?
Thank you in Advance 👍
Great vid🤟🏼
Mine doesn’t bounce but it bangs against the sides. Any suggestions?
My mom and I changed the suspension rods with no problem your video was great! but when we do the reset, only the lid lock light flashes but doesn't lock. No water, no spin, nothing happens..we have water open to the washer and all the rods seemed in place. Did I mess something else up?
Disconnected for about 30 minutes and try again
Video helped me out.... It cost me 132$ for the shocks
Glad My Video was Helpful!
Mine is brand new and it bounces side to side enough to walk away from the wall, I tested it by pushing down on it like you said and it is fine, I pushed down and it came back up without bouncing , now this only happens when when i put it on bulky items. this machine is brand new.
Excellent video. But Q: What if you've changed the rods and it CONTINUES to shake off balance? Thanks.
Good question! Make Sure to Check the Basket and the Shaft.
Thank you for the video, we replaced the shocks and still doing the Krazy bumps really bad could you please give me a suggestion please of what else needs fixing?:thanks
There's are comment above about this
@@BrendaT24 oh ok, thank you, maybe I need to calibrate it but I don't know how
QQQ do the shocks ever slip out of position? My machine is almost 1 year old. I cannot imagine the shocks being bad already but my machine will not spin. When i did a calibration test it began to spin and it began a very strong out of balance feel then automatically stopped locking the lid!
I replaced my shocks but unfortunately still bangs around like crazy tub seems to be leaning to the right. What else could cause this?
I have this same washing machine. It will sometimes drain after the wash and then just time out. I can put it on drying and spin and it will. But it will not complete the wash no matter how many times I cancel and start over
It only bounce 1 time
Are you able to remove all four shocks and put the new ones in place at one time. Or should you only do two at a time.
My Recommendation is to do 2 at a Time.
Hello, my suspension rods are not bad, but my washer still shakes a lot (not unbalancing), and also squeaks like mice are chatting in there on final spin. I have a few videos on my channel to show you also, (in case you need to hear how it is like) and that would basically explain the noise better. Oh yeah, and I have a quick little question to ask you, is this a Maytag Top Loading Washer 4.2 cubic ft. model number MVWC565FW? I am assuming it is that because I can tell, as it doesn’t say “centennial” on the machine itself. As well as how “MVWC” stands for “Maytag Vertical Washer Centennial” which is why i’m guessing that is the model number.
I replaced the struts with factory replacements using the easy to understand step by step instructions as shown in the video. I proceeded with a regular load pf clothes that included a towel..it was so quiet that i didnt even hear the spim cycle. I proceeded with another load which consisted of two towels. When the spin cycle began, the drum went back to banging around. I tried another small load and it was quiet again. I tested the tightness of drum by pushing it down. It only bounced once so its to spec. Does anyone know why it still bounces around ?
Oh my gosh. I’m overwhelmed. Mine was rocking and shaking loud. But it’s leaking underneath and the spin cycle isn’t working. I don’t know where to begin. I’m a 64 year old woman alone. But just don’t have the means to buy a new washing machine. Can you tell me where to begin with all the problems. It’s a Maytag centennial W10140921C. I’m thinking I need to replace hose pump, actuator and now these poles. Oh boy this is alot
What happens if you do this replacement and now the shacking is less violent there was improvement but still shaking??
I was also wondering what the 10 year limited lifetime warranty cover since this Maytag centennial is only 5 years old ?
The warranty covers drive motor wash basket and dryer drum. That’s what 10 year warranty covers.
Did you put the back shocks from the bottom of the washer! Looks like you had the washer on its side! Seems like you left out a lot of stuff.
this video, way too much being done. wear gloves, pull up on the rod, take the top off. let it down, depress the tab around the rod to release from holder. slide out of holder, pull whole rod from top, take tab off old rod and replace on new. slide back in holder, pull up to snap tab in place pull rod through top replace top cap and voila! thanks!
This is probably the most helpful comment I’ve found on YT so far! 👍🏼👍🏼
So you are saying it can all be done from the top?
Make a video then. Easier said than done
Or your just slow
I've done this.
This is my exact if not very similar model to mine in the video. It violently shakes with clothes and lightly shakes without clothes however my drum does not bounce like shown in the video, I would say it had correct resistance and returns to the top with very little bounce, Could it be something else? I do think my drum is a little off-center. Would that tell you rods as well?
Yes, if it’s off-center, that means you have to adjust the legs and level the washer but if it’s being like that that means one of the shocks are bad and yes, it could be something else but either way when you have an off balance washer, you start by replacing the shocks
My Maytag top load washer is brand new and bangs around during rinse cycle, it’s smooth when it finally goes into final spin. Not sure what it is.
now if i have this problem will it fill fully with water but not empty when clothes are done?
If you lay the washer on its side can you remove and replace with no problem
Yes, As long as You do 1 or 2 at a time, It should be no Problem.
So I pressed down, it only bounced 1 time but it looks like the drum is slanting back to right. Any ideas/suggestions?
If the tub and the drum is leaning to one side, you have to replace the shocks if the drum self it’s leaning, you have a problem with the shifter or the block
Not too clear when replacing the shocks. Do you turn the washer upside down?
No, you don’t have to turn the washer upside down. Everything is from the top and the bottom you only remove the shocks. Here’s all the links and how to do it. They are different models, but is the same. Procedure in Maytag, Amana and Roper are made by whirlpool.

What steps do you take to make sure you order the correct part.
Parts are Based on the Model Number of Your Appliance.
Are the new parts actually shock absorbers or just springs?
They are shock absorbers it has a device on top of the spring that does that
What if it doesn’t have an agitator in the middle how do we check? Mine was just vibrating shaking violently but there’s no agitator. Bravo xl washer
You will check it the same way just put your hand all the way to the bottom push it down, and if it bounces more than once, that means is the shocks
Good video. I have the same washer change the shocks and I get a spin light blinking. Any help please. I did the reset to default and I still get the spin blinking light. Thanks
I changed out the rods..machine banging more than it did before...still not going into spin cycle properly..and water still remains below the cylinder..specifically how are the rods supposed to be positioned on the bearing??
Same thing with my washer
thank you :)
You're welcome! Thanks for Watching!
I replaced rods & made sure it was level but it still shakes like it's unbalanced, would wash basket be an issue?
I'm at a loss. I put brand new spring rod parts in mine and it is still doing it.
ruclips.net/user/shortspTnLllOoB0U?feature=share
How do you balance the suspension rods ?
So ...I've got bad banging and unbalanced during the spin cycle. But when I push down on the agitator, it's still firm and no "up & down, as though the shocks are fine. Getting error codes....shifter fault & motor fault.
Question: So my son helped me and we changed out the shocks using the ones that we ordered on Amazon from your link. But these shocks came and they are two inches shorter than the old ones. We replaced them but now we have the banging near the top problem. So I will try to fix for that per your video. But are those the correct parts? They are 2 inches shorter? Thanks so much, in advance.
It looks like they replace those so we’re not sure if those are the right ones according to the part number it should be the right one but somebody else complain about it. That’s why we replace the link for the OEM ones.
ruclips.net/user/shortspTnLllOoB0U?feature=share
What if there’s no bounce or give whatsoever? Pushing on the top like you feels like I’m pushing into the ground
There’s other things that I can be like the Balance ring the shifter or the cobbler the video is based on the most common things my suggestion would be replaced the shocks first
@@DIYRepairsNow thank you!
Looks like a lot of work just ordered a new one 😂
My Maytag washer was shaking pretty bad- the tub was actually hitting the side. After performing the agitator push test, it was questionable whether it needed a new suspension. I installed a new suspension and double checked everything prior to putting the top back on. Performed the agitator push test again and found that it was much more firm. Put the top back on and started a rinse and spin cycle. The problem is worse. Instead of the tub hitting the side it is now slamming into the side. Took it back apart and checked everything again. Looks good to me. Obviously the firmer suspension has amplified the problem. So what could it be?
I’m having the same problem. Did you buy aftermarket shocks? I did. Did you figure out the problem yet?
Did you get it fixed? Did you research the snubber?
@@davidlittle611 I sure did. What ended up fixing it was buying a new LG front loader. Works great! :)
@@SamGray1999 yeah I just replaced the springs on my Maytag Bravos, and it seems to have solved my problem, but I’m looking at the front loaders in order to save as much water as possible because I’m on a water catchment system. The LG’s are about $600 right now here.
We replaced ours but now the washer sits too high? The drum doesn’t move freely or really at all. It sits higher than the washer sides and the top pushes it down a tad. When running it still shakes at first and then sounds like a loud generator running
ruclips.net/user/shortspTnLllOoB0U?feature=share
We replaced the suspension rods, the machine is level and doesn’t wobble, but the banging is there in gusto. Can anyone tell me what else could be wrong?
How can I find the part I need and where can I buy the part
How often do these honkers go bad?
If you use the washer the right way between 4 to 5 years if you overload the washer and used the wrong way between 1 and 2 years
@@DIYRepairsNow Use it multiple times a week and has lasted for 7 years now!! Sweet.
@@DIYRepairsNow Took me about 25m to replace all 4. Now, the spline and small agitator is a pain in the neck. I have to replace the plastic piece every 8 months. Wish this was designed better BUT it is a cheap repair.
I have new rods and it still shake violently 😢
You need to calibrate the washer
ruclips.net/video/kgfX9HVg3EQ/видео.html
If that doesn’t work, go ahead follow this video ruclips.net/user/shortspTnLllOoB0U?feature=share
will this part fit maytag model Mvwc565fw1?
Why does it still shake after changing shocks?
Make sure you adjust all four legs sometimes if the cabinet is touching the floor it will shake as well
@@DIYRepairsNow Not touching anywhere! Thanks!
At least after changing shocks, it shakes some but don’t walk around like it did before.
I changed the springs but it walks and vibrates a lot still
What is the part number. I can’t see it on the video? Thanks!!
Where do u order part from now I have maytag conentianl
Part is link in the description of the video
Thank you for the video. I did replace the suspension rods and still having the same problem the tub shakes violently. Do you know what else could be the problem?
I am having the same issue. Replace the rods and still have the same issue.
@@lmrodgers07 Probably the bearings need replaced
If same issue then the balancer ring has lost its fluid. I've been looking, but I don't think that this part is serviceable, you'd have to swap out the entire basket to correct this.
Pause it after wash cycle and even them out. Then spin.
Also make sure your washer is on even flooring. If not prop it up in the front some and screw the pegs down or up until the washer is solid on the ground and doesn't move when you wiggle it around.
Make sure your clothes are put in pretty evenly. When they get wet they get heavy and can weigh more on one side than the other.
