Jake honestly your reasoning behind the decision is so well thought through. I’ve felt a bit on and off about my course for the last 6 weeks or so and what you said about the education system being so intense and you never actually having the opportunity to find your true passion before investing so much time, effort, moving to a different area and starting a new life as well as the 9 grand a year is so wrong. Mana and the creator of growth position sounds so ideal for you so best of luck with that. 500,000 downloads in 6 months is ambitious but with your drive I reckon you could achieve it. Looking forward to the upcoming content! It’s always motivating seeing people of the same age posting relatable content and trying to bring about change and break the status quo!🙂

Hey watched you during a levels and helped me a lot and got me onto a school leaver programme at a big company, uni isn’t for everyone and theirs loads of other options so it’s really good that you dropped out sooner rather than later - some people just stay out of fear even though they hate uni so fair play and respect to you for owning it. Excited to see what journey you take next and you can bet I’m gonna join you on it. Good luck mate ik you’ll do well :)

You are very inspiring and to make a change at this point is also incredibly brave and admirable. Best of luck with the future, I’m sure you’ll smash it!

Good luck Jake! I’m rooting for you. This was definitely the right decision , you don’t want to be wasting time on something that doesn’t interest you completely. We also definitely need a change in the system. There are those few gems that have so much love for their subject that they pass that onto their students but other times it’s very systematic and the constant stress and repetition does not work, I know from experience

Jake, I really admire your constant search for passion and fulfillment. This video has really made me realise that there is a whole world outside the academic route. That if the academic side seems to not be working there are other options to approach life in a more exciting and purposeful way.
It may be tough leaving your already made path and your uni friendships but in the end we only live once so it's better to make risky/difficult choices over regretting later on. Personally I am going to attend university but if I learned one thing from you is that you always need to ask yourself about the "why?" and only continue doing that thing if it comes from within. Looking forwards to continue following your journey, bro 👊😄

Congrats on your new job Jake. I went through pretty much the same process as you when deciding what to do after sixth form and we both came to the decision to go to uni. Luckily I love my course and going to a non-Russell group uni has allowed me to get in a job in marketing alongside my degree. I went through the same thought process about wanting to do a “society-approved” degree but came to the conclusion that career prospects and the ability to do projects alongside my work far outweighed the perceived status of doing a different degree at a “better uni”. Think it’s defo something that needs speaking about more in schools. Good luck with your new job and look forward to seeing where it takes you :)

I actually can’t believe it, when you said you had a big announcement I thought you were going to change your major to computer science or something and I had no idea you would drop engineering. Ever since quarantine I’ve been watching your videos and your a huge inspiration to me, your work ethic and motivation make it so that I see you as a role mode. I do want to go into mechanical engineering myself so i was looking forward and embark on your journey to your degree. It’s so shocking that you just dropped it but at the end of the day I find it so inspiring that you are able to just come to a realisation to what you actually want to do and how you figured out that you were faking the passion for engineering. I really admire how you refuse to stay in something that you dont enjoy and I hope that whatever you’re going to do, you will love and I’ll continue watching your videos and supporting you and I can’t wait to see what’s next!! Good luck!

As much as a degree is an investment and it’s good to think about employment after, passion should also play a big role. I’d rather spend 3 years studying something I love even if society deems as it as “useless” or a “fluffy degree” than spend 3 years studying something I didn’t like just because society has deemed it as a hard or respectable. No degree is truly useless if you have passion, a plan and work experience to back you up. You made the right decision and I wish you all the best on your journey!! You’re gonna smash it

Respect for dipping before you got in too deep. I’m about to enter my 5th year studying Mech Eng at a Masters level and dislike every minute of it haha. But the uni experience (living with mates etc.) is simply too fun to replace with the 9-5. I wish to delay that for as long as possible. I’m also in Scotland where I’m lucky enough to receive free education, so why not milk that down to the last drop. Watching your videos in the past I was astounded you managed to publish one every week whilst also getting your work done. I can promise you the work would’ve only gotten exponentially harder, with far more of it - therefore leaving less and less time for your what you really like doing. So hopefully you made the right decision.
Having said that, I will miss relating to yet another Mech Eng student who hates their degree haha. Although it won’t be hard to find another…

We support you mate, but I do think you should get a degree in something you are passionate for or see as being useful in further life with your career path. Make the most of your time. A degree will give you stability and it will also give you a backup job if things go to rubbish. Use this time till september to have a semi gap year. You are smart, I reckon you could do a degree and work for mana part time. You've got this, your fans are here for you every step of the way.

I WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW THIS. You are the kind of person that my parents want me to be, to be balance, to be social, more importantly, to have the epiphany that as I grow, following my inner drive and become a even better, passionate, gaining real life skills is just SO much more important than a high academic degree! I am grateful for having parents like this. Like, they always say things like that, I feel like that they are right, but I haven't seen anybody around me showing me this principle, this attitude, in other words, a pioneer of pursuing his passion. I just can't fully convince my self. For a period of time, I felt like work is endless, life is depressing, I was so pressured.
Here you are! Being that person! Thank you!
Despite all that, you save IGCSE people and I am one of them, you really need to be aware of the differences you make, words cannot express my appreciation, but yeah, you know what I mean :) Thx

To be honest, after watching the previous uni videos, this isn't as unexpected as everyone is saying. You clearly weren't ready for it and if i went to uni at your age instead of going as a mature student I'd have been the same. Uni will always be there, ill continue watching and hoping you succeed.

I hope I can have the same confidence and find something I’m really passionate about in the future too!! I wish you all the best in this new chapter and am looking forward to seeing more amazing content!!

I'm graduating high school right not, and man it is hard to do choices. I was so sure that I would be going to engineering once I graduate but now the past month I just can't see it anymore.
I am probably going to study business, maybe accounting or something else, because in the end I actually care a lot more about people and the organization aspects of things. Only problem is that as everyone knows me as the "math guy" who has always talked about engineering, it kinda makes me feel anxious telling them that no, I have changed. Honestly feeling lost and depressed about this, but maybe I will go to business and follow that.
Also there's this weird system in my country which I am no going into (but basically from business you can easily go to engineering but not the other way, since nobody here want's to be an engineer)
