Important updates from ASUS in no particular order: - This laptop has hit $679 with the 7700S after making this video which offers amazing value. That competes with RTX 4060 graphics and is way cheaper, this is an excellent deal. - The Zen 3+ model I've got here does not actually have USB 4, explains why my eGPU did not work. Zen 4 config should. The ASUS website has now been updated to correctly show this on the spec sheet. - The 7600S has a 95W TGP, but the 7700S has a 120W TGP. - Armoury Crate wording around standard and optimized modes will be updated to make it clearer. - The 6 heatpipe cooler is confirmed only for the Zen 4 model, not the Zen 3+ one I've got here as I suspected, the ASUS website will change to reflect this. - The two Type-C ports: I said one goes to the iGPU and the other dGPU, this is correct, but I mixed them up in the video, it's the opposite to what I said. The one closer to the front goes to dGPU, while the back is iGPU.
That's what I love about the ASUS TUF series, it doesn't look like a Gaming Laptop and you can take it to a Studio or College for classes and production work.
@@EngineerMikey5 We "care" because in a professional workspace the things you own say a lot about yourself. And also, at least in my country, the less it stands out the lower the chance it gets stolen.
The A16 is much more appealing to me than the A15 because of the screen aspect ratio and more vertical resolution. I exclusively run Linux on my laptops and this is where AMD GPUs shine. However the fact the keyboard wasn't recognized is a bit concerning, though I'm sure it will get fixed at some point.
Despite having ordered a custom Lenovo Yoga 7i with 16 inch from 2022, I keep coming back to these videos just to see what is going on. Thank you for your informative work, especially when it came to 4080/4090 power to cost ratio for the laptop variants!
Hopefully I can keep doing it, I only have one and it's my 4TB game drive that I test with so sometimes it's busy if we are doing a 25 game comparison lol
Honestly, the all-AMD load out does mean that this will likely work really well as a Linux machine, at least as long as there's kernel support for the Wifi chip.
I just bought this laptop about a week ago, and it seems to be a pretty plug and play experience so far with the big caveat being the internal laptop keyboard not working at all (I tried tweaking kernel params and looking at various patches but no luck so far). I have dual boot on it with NixOS and it is working great!
@@ethangill7974 just out of curiosity, while nixos ain't no reference, how is switchable grafics behaviour and vfio acpi calls for it? (in case you tested this that is xd)
Also one thing not talked about in the review that I think is relevant. AMD has something called Radeon Chill, which lets you configure variable refresh-rate to save power. It actually works quite well particularly when paired with a FreeSync monitor. I use it in non-competitive (story) games. It can save a bunch of power.
@@gykg3202 Good enough for me to buy it :-) Honestly though, I think it. It seems like a solid performer from all the reviews I’ve read and the few issues I’ve found have work arounds. I’ve been wanting an all AMD model for Linux since GeForce has always given me difficulty. For the most the RX 7700S looks to be on par with the 4060 easily running game at 1080p ultra settings. It doesn’t hurt too that design is less conspicuous compared to most gaming laptops. If I run into any issues when I set it up tomorrow I’ll let you know
@@gykg3202 I think it’s well worth it. The same laptop used on eBay runs for 750+ used. You won’t find an equivalent new laptop on sale below $800 with the same performance
Just a tip for anyone who just got the laptop, gaming performance is significant neutered unless you put the gpu in the highest output mode in armory crate, I went from 35 fps in destiny on medium @ 1200p to 140
That’s interesting. I uninstalled armory crate because so many people said it messes with game play. Since uninstalling I feel like fps has been pretty bad for me. May have to reinstall again
Considering the pricing (at the moment), and the efficiency of the AMD, and how quiet it is, this is a good step forward for AMD. Their higher tiered Ryzen 9 and Radeon options still need to be competitive though. Also, this Cpu and Gpu are sporting the s moniker, like last year, does this basically mean smaller less wattage versions? Could you say that this Asus TUF is using Ultrabook hardware?
I got this laptop and it’s really great I’ve had no issues and it runs everything literally everything maxed out. I upgraded from a GTX 1070 ti to this and it’s just so much more better!
I bought this laptop and performance wise it's quite good but it just feels so buggy and unstable sometimes with heaps of issues that require troubleshooting. For example, when connecting to my dock via the front USB C port the screens wouldn't turn on, but when connecting to the back port they do. I "fixed" the issue by uninstalling Armour Crate and now it works. Pretty ridiculous that I have to uninstall Asus' own software to get the laptop to work! (But now I no longer can use the MUX switch). Other random issues I've had which I still haven't been able to resolve: -Screen often won't turn off after specified time in power settings -Sometimes immediately wakes after putting it in hibernate -When wirelessly casting to my TV the video often freezes after ~20min forcing me to recast -When I alt tab out of some games my web browser flickers black unless I turn hardware acceleration off I really wish Asus could improve their QC, otherwise this would've been a great laptop for the price
I'm just happy to see the TUF finally move on to 16:10 aspect ratio and I maintain that in Sandstorm, it's the prettiest gaming laptop. Legions are clean and corporate, ROGs are flamboyant, Dells are colourful but this TUF is genuinely pretty. Though this model is basically a TUF Dash laptop with such low TGP. Very strange.
@@TabalugaDragon as Jarrod said in his ASUS CES 2023 video, Nvidia and AMD seemingly measure TGPs differently as the TUF cooling system and power supply for both should be the same.
Can't wait to see how much the improvement from 6nm Zen3+ to 4nm Zen4 Mobile in terms of performance and battery life Still a little bit skeptical but I expect much better improvement
Hi Jarrod, thanks for the review! I actually bought previous generation of A15 with 3070nvidia graphics cards, and i noticed that some of electronics components (located near graphic chip) are making a very uncomfortable low humming noise. Its sounds like a plasma lighter if you know what i mean, just much quieter. And i see that this is quite a common problem with a lot of Asus laptops. If you can add this little test in the future, just launch a game on a cold laptop and try to listen to sounds near keyboard (its better to test on cold laptop because you won’t hear fans). I is really annoying problem, and for some people it may sound like laptop is a bout to die ( mine work just fine over a year now). Also, i think i shall also point one thing up - DO NOT clean your keyboard with anything then just a dry cloth! If you use even slightly aggressive chemicals like windows cleaner - the prints on these key’s will deteriorate immediately. And this is too, a very disappointing thing( Also be aware that wifi6 cards on this laptops are usually bad quality - and you will experience some wifi disconnections here and there. But still, A15 is one of the best laptops I’ve ever had)
Coil whine is hard to test because it can differ per model/unit. I bought 4 (!) Legion 5 Pros to find one without it (buy-try-return cycles). If its only when fans are low and under heavy usage then its almost inevitable, 100% usage with minimum fans is very unique (at first I though I had a bee inside laptop 😂). But if its always when fans are low, and then its return time.
@@RazielXT well yeah, you can hide this sound simply by using heaphones. But still, it may come up even where there is not much load, it makes a funny sound in photoshop - as you drag and paint with brush across the paper it will sound accordingly to the speed of mouse cursor 😅) Also, Asus "silent" mode is pretty much what it says - it wont turn fans until cpu/gpu starts to get really hot, and even when it does - its so silent, that you can hear the coils overpower the low fan humming.
@@praisetheomnisciah Yea thats definitely annoying. My (final) laptop thankfully doesnt have such sensitive gpu, but I do hear it when I turn on game or benchmark, simply when it jumps to full load and fans are still off/low. Also 3070 btw
Just bought this laptop for $809 USD from BB, and what a deal! This thing is awesome! I’ll be using it for professional work throughout the day, but there will be break periods in between, so I didn’t want to just get a basic business laptop. I was astounded to find hooking it up to my 4K monitor that I was able to get 60fps+ in CP77, Control, and Dirt Rally 2.0 with moderate settings / FSR, and of course using the standard 1200p monitor, it performs outstandingly. Absolute unit, this.
It would be interesting to see a comparison of the AMD 6000 series, AMD 7000 series, Nvidia 3000 series, and Nvidia 4000 series graphics with the power limited at various wattages. Some quick math shows the 7600S as efficient as the 4090 (avg FPS per watt).
@@amrizalds9108 yeah just about! Take the average FPS for a game (Cyberpunk for example) and divide it by the average power (watts) it used for that game.
@@siyzerix take a look again he showed 3 games, 1 in which it close to the 3060 and the other 2 in which it matches the 3070ti which btw = 4070 performance and supports fsr3 frame gen
@@NadeemAhmed-nv2br You're telling me, the lowest end rdna 3 gpu costs $1000, the same price as midrange options from nvidia last year? Great job. Great argument pal. Fantastic job of defending overpaying for cheap crap. This should be just $800. No more. Infact, the rx7600m should be $800 in laptops. This rx7600s should be $700 since its just a max q version of the rx7600m
Hello Jarrod's Tech, I just want to thank you for making this kinds of videos for people who are buying laptops like me to make a better purchase decisions. Which helped me picked up a laptop at a decent price and specs. Sincerly John
I'm a big fan of AMD. My first laptop was amd and it is still usable ten years later. If I got the 2 core Intel for the same price it wouldn't be usable now. And the integrated graphics are just enough to do some light gaming or video editing.
If you have a 6700S laptop with a Rembrandt CPU, I would really love to an equalized power limits comparison between 6700S and 7600S, basically a head to head "cut-down N23 vs cut-down N33" battle. N23 vs N33 is rather interesting in general because the two GPUs have near identical configs. Both have 32CUs/16WGPs split across 4 shader arrays/2 shader engines. Both have 32MB of Infinity Cache and a 128b GDDR6 memory bus. Both are based on a 7nm class process node (N33 is technically on N6, but the node is *very* similar to N7P in terms of both power and performance characteristics). N23 vs N33 is essentially a direct RDNA2 vs RDNA3 architecture battle.
@captain_morgan yes, but that plus a much better CPU (and maybe even the extra Ram) should result in a significant difference. Just wish that the vram was slightly higher. It would've been more future proof
why not, I switched from intel/gtx based laptop to full AMD (2x times) and I was very surprised. first was 3550H/rx560x (650€) and now 5600H/rx6600m (800€). diffidently worth the money.
Considering this is the bottom model (there are 2 models with Zen 4 and one of them with a more powerful gpu), not bad at all! Will be definitely better than 4050 laptops, while likely cheaper! I wish this (and Zen 4) CPUs were more common without dedicated graphics...
Imagine a thin and light with just a ryzen 7040 series APU for like $500. Portable for people who want it, cheap with performance, and should have good battery life.
Awesome review. Hope you get the 4070 TUF for review too at some point. The price is really attractive in my country, as in it cost only slightly more than my 2021 model even with all the crazy pricing of GPUs these days.
With the RX 7600S performing really well, 7600M XT should perform even better. AMD could start dominating the mid-range gaming laptops market against Nvidia’s overpriced 40 series
How's it performing ''really well''? Its basically around a 3060. It lacks the tuning of nvidia laptops. Not to mention it'll cost as much as 3060 laptops did. Do you not see AMD is just offering you slightly better ''value'' in gaming while being worse in productivity and most other things? This thing should be $800, not $1000+. Infact, the rx7600mxt should be $1000.
It really won’t… A lot of 4060 laptops are in the same price range with equal if not better performance. And then they have DLSS, better ray tracing, and better productivity. I just don’t see it happening with this specific laptop and I don’t see how you think that with just this review.

@@ИванГадияк The 1660ti can do 4k 60fps on forza horizon 5. So I'm sure this could do 80+ fps in that title at 4k. Might even do it in doom 2016 too. And you could probably hit 80+ fps in esports titles at 4k.
I'm a truck driver & have been looking for a new gaming laptop to use on the road. I wanted good battery life so I have been trying to pick an AMD advantage laptop. I also wanted compact portability & convenience, because laptops that are too big are a hassle just to set up. I was very torn about whether I should get the G14 with a lower TDP Radeon RX 6800S or wait for the Tuf A15 with 7700S to be released. I just ordered the G14 for only $1400 & I think I made the right call without knowing how expensive the A16 with the better graphics card will be.
Just buy an rog strix amd advantage with a rx6800m mate. What've you been waiting for? Its been on sale for quite some time. Near rtx 3080 performance.
@@siyzerix battery life was also a consideration. ive been using the g14 for two weeks now and i can get about 10 hours on battery. i can play less demanding games with the type c charger, so i dont have to always plug into a wall outlet. i ran some benchmarks & when plugged into the wall, it gets around a 3080ti on most benchmarks. i thought i wouldnt like the small screen, but it's not bothering me at all. it also looks great. oh and as soon as i got it, it went on sale for $1300 so i exchanged it to get the $100 back lol
@@prefontaine2790 Um, The rog strix amd advantage also has has 10hr battery life, if not more. It has rx6700xt like performance. It went on sale for between $1099 and $1300. It too can use a usb c charger to play less demanding games. And its 12gb of vram will make it very futureproof. And in full power, it will trade blows with rtx 3080 to 3080ti in actual games. Plus, the amd rog strix has better upgradability than the g14 since it has no soldered ram and upgradable ssd slots. The g14 has 1 ram slot soldered, lowering its max ram amount. So the rog strix can easily use 32gb of ram but not the g14 unless you buy it with 16gb as the soldered ram slot version.
One of the more underrated aspects of this laptop, in my view, is asus's support. They've always done well by me compared to other companies Ive dealt with in the past. Edit: Wow, this really didn't age well.

@@dhairyamoorjani290 Can confirm about the display. It's definitely better than it looks on paper. Comparing it to a Legion 5 Pro's QHD display, I would choose this one; it has much better contrast and is noticeably brighter.
Why does it need a 240W brick, wouldn't 180W be enough? Silent mode is looking good though. Quiet and efficient. Since GPU+CPU are pulling 75W, does it mean it could run games fine in silent mode with 100W usb-c charging?
The CPU, 7735HS is basically a copy of the 6800h from last year. And the GPU, 7600s is barely able to beat the RTX 3060 from last year. So we're basically getting a laptop that's barely able to outperform last years tuf a15 with 6800h and RTX 3060. This better be priced very reasonably or else it's a "TUF" sell.
Jarrod just said it'll be $1100. Thats literally the price of 3060 laptops. So this is just crap. Its worse than it in almost every other aspect and barely edges it out in gaming.

The Canary build had been better for use even if slightly less stable because the graphics drivers on the other build had stability issues. Asus Tuf A16 Thermal Throttling I just got the laptop a few days ago. It’s been pretty amazing so far. One thing I’m noticing in games that the cpu (amd 7 7735hs) reaches about 95 Celsius in 30-50% usage and suddenly the games start stuttering a lil bit. Ik its normal for modern cpus to run a little bit hotter. But is it normal in only 30 to 50% usage? Should I worry? Btw I ran all the benchmarks and they’re all within normal limits.
all a16's with zen 3+ work like that guess either cooling system cant handle this cpu or voltages \power managment are poorly tuned. You can limit power manually but whats the point of having this powerful cpu?
I got a question, i recently watched your video saying that you can get the optimal fps when gaming with your laptop plugged in instead of using the battery and that you want to plug your laptop whenever possible. I always thought you should never use your laptop while charging, am i wrong? Sorry for bad English
Laptop works different compared to phone Heres thing , if laptop done charging on whatever percentage u set up , the power will just go pass the battery's and just go to the mother board If u want ur battery more healthy , just set it to all time 60% changing in Asus settings , it will helps a lot Battery got limited voltage when comes to output , this limits the voltage for performance So conclusion , plug in for everything u want to do and also performance based usage unplug for daily outdoor use (cannot do the things that's requires performance) (still can but not good and is bad)
No idea if there is anything negative if using the laptop that is charging; however, unplugged gaming laptops generally limit the power they allow CPU/GPU severely, often by a third or half. That enables 60-90 minutes of battery life, instead of just 30 minutes or so, but naturally- it also means lower clocks and performance.
Jarrod, does this have Optimus graphics if it is AMD only? You mentioned that for the HDMI port’s connection to the GPU. And, such a fan of yours. Great work!
I am a bit disappointed that ASUS is launching it with a Ryzen 9 7840HS instead of more powerful Dragon range 7945HX that destroys the 7840HS in multi core due to having 16 cores. At least they could've gone to a 12 core R9 7845HX. Only advantage the 7840HS has is the powerful 780M iGPU that is a waste of money here anyway.
While I'm not super familiar with laptops, traditionally the 8 core Zen CPUs are noticeably better at gaming than the 12/16 core ones, and certainly much better value for gaming. If this laptop is primarily targeted at gamers, then the 8 core does make much more sense as far as value is concerned.
Don't be disappointed- 16-core HX CPUs would not help in gaming with a midrange dGPU like 7600S-7700S. It might even hurt the total performance in this laptop that is limited to 120W total, as even when idling, Dragon Range uses 20W+. That means some of the power budget of the dGPU would have to be assigned for running the CPU, leading to even lower dGPU clocks. And then there is idle/light use battery life: you can get 10-20h out of this laptop with 7735HS APU (Notebookcheck review), but from 7945HX, with 20W+ idle power use and 90Wh battery, the best you can expect is ~4,5 hours. In the end- monolithic APUs like 7x35 and 7x40 series are way better for most midrange gaming laptops, while 7x45HX makes sense if coupled with top tier GPUs like the 4090, or for use in productivity laptops, where 12-16 cores with high power budget are useful.
@@MrHamofNo, you can see the tests of 7950X vs 7700X. 7700X is slightly faster only because the tests are done with a 4090 at 1080P to exaggerate the difference. If they had to go 8 core, why did they not go for 7745HX, it would be cheaper as it doesn't waste die space on the iGPU.
@@MrHamof i think they should use r7 7745hx that not a waste on the igpu also they should made r7 and 9 7x40hs whit no dgpu at 600-900$ for gaming the rx 780m is like a gtx 1650 is enough for all games at 1080p 30fps also old games run well hight 60fps and the battery would be very good
@@hariskhan01 Battery life, like the other person said. The laptop specific chips are much more efficient than the HX chips, which means both more performance in power constrained scenarios and better battery life. Realistically the 7840HS and 7735HS are both capable of maxing out the 7600S unless you're doing Fortnite at 720p competitive settings or something. Also, why are people so obsessed with the silicon savings? You guys realize the HX part is going to be more expensive anyway right? In fact, the 7845HX, the 16 core one, is actually substantially bigger than the 7735HS. And for anyone who's just using it for tethered gaming the extra 8 cores are just as much of a waste of silicon as the IGP.
I just bought this laptop from “Best Buy” as an open box special (in literal brand new condition) for 493$ USD!!! What a great steal!!! You felt the pain in his voice while reviewing this all AMD laptop. I used to think tech RUclipsrs are not bias when it comes to reviewing tech. But I guess when it comes to Intel's deep pockets their tones are easily changed from unbias to bias.
He removed the 4070 from the results chart which this laptop performs very close too, he was heavily biased against amd but he seems to be a more neutral reviewer now
Couldn't be that old mate reviews dozens of laptops each year and has the knowledge/ability to speak plainly about a certain product and its relation to completion. Nope. He must be in Intel's pocket because he didn't artificially fawn over your favorite brand. Genius.
You're right, there was pain, did you not listen to the conclusion? I struggled to see why this exists, other than the fact that you can't get the 16" screen with their Nvidia config. I failed to see a benefit of having the Radeon GPU when last years Nvidia A15 was in many cases objectively better, which paints a pretty clear picture about how this years will do. It has nothing to do with Intel vs AMD (I've never been paid by Intel for any sponsored content btw, you're just proving you have no idea how any of this works). If you're going to post a dumb take, at least make it more believable and say I'm paid by Nvidia or something lmao. So to spell it all out for you because you clearly can't summarize info properly yourself, Intel or AMD A15 with Nvidia are better than this.
@user-cz9hl7hc7k 4070 was never added to the comparison chart because we've never reviewed a 4070 laptop, simple as that. The data used in the 4070 vs 3070 Ti comparison was done at different setting levels in 2 of the 3 games. No need to assume malice when you could just ask why. Of course, this is putting aside a completely different issue of my 4070 data potentially being wrong and I'm waiting to get a replacement laptop to verify it, but that's a different story.
Do you even understand the naming scheme? The Actual Zen4 cpus for eg R9 7945HX beats the shit out of a 24 core 13980HX while consuming less power lmfao

Looks like the processor determines what the cooling config is. My A16 has the Ryzen 7 7735HS with the RX7700S and has the same cooler as seen in the video.
Important updates from ASUS in no particular order:
- This laptop has hit $679 with the 7700S after making this video which offers amazing value.
Is there any good cheaper options?

Asus created a refresh of the A15 with the same 7735HS and the new RTX 4000 series GPUs this year
That's what I love about the ASUS TUF series, it doesn't look like a Gaming Laptop and you can take it to a Studio or College for classes and production work.

Very happy that Jarrod added information about dual-sided SSDs this year. Really, really appreciate it. More power.
Hopefully I can keep doing it, I only have one and it's my 4TB game drive that I test with so sometimes it's busy if we are doing a 25 game comparison lol
Really appreciate the effort going into these videos. Hope you can have another high capacity double-sided SSD.

Honestly, the all-AMD load out does mean that this will likely work really well as a Linux machine, at least as long as there's kernel support for the Wifi chip.
King for SteamOS aswell with system wide FSR
Should be no problem if it uses Intel or Qualcomm chips...
I just bought this laptop about a week ago, and it seems to be a pretty plug and play experience so far with the big caveat being the internal laptop keyboard not working at all (I tried tweaking kernel params and looking at various patches but no luck so far).

I bought this laptop and performance wise it's quite good but it just feels so buggy and unstable sometimes with heaps of issues that require troubleshooting. For example, when connecting to my dock via the front USB C port the screens wouldn't turn on, but when connecting to the back port they do. I "fixed" the issue by uninstalling Armour Crate and now it works. Pretty ridiculous that I have to uninstall Asus' own software to get the laptop to work! (But now I no longer can use the MUX switch).
Other random issues I've had which I still haven't been able to resolve:
-Screen often won't turn off after specified time in power settings
-Sometimes immediately wakes after putting it in hibernate
-When wirelessly casting to my TV the video often freezes after ~20min forcing me to recast
-When I alt tab out of some games my web browser flickers black unless I turn hardware acceleration off
I really wish Asus could improve their QC, otherwise this would've been a great laptop for the price
It's nice that you included Linux support in the review!
I'm just happy to see the TUF finally move on to 16:10 aspect ratio and I maintain that in Sandstorm, it's the prettiest gaming laptop.
And this is too, a very disappointing thing(
Also be aware that wifi6 cards on this laptops are usually bad quality - and you will experience some wifi disconnections here and there.
I have the 2021 ASUS Tuf A17 and I can relate to the WiFi disconnection issues. Although they generally get fixed, but it can sometimes be a hassle.
you can mitigate coil while with hot glue
@@praisetheomnisciah Yea thats definitely annoying. My (final) laptop thankfully doesnt have such sensitive gpu, but I do hear it when I turn on game or benchmark, simply when it jumps to full load and fans are still off/low. Also 3070 btw

N23 vs N33 is essentially a direct RDNA2 vs RDNA3 architecture battle.

the fans maxing out at 48dB doesnt make a lot of sense, and I think last year did it better. the fans would be a lot quieter in performance mode than in turbo, so you had a choice. now youre forced to be quieter and have worse temps even if the noise doesnt bother you
Amazing laptop especially for the price. Have had it for two months. Starfield works and looks amazing along with all my other games as well. Upgraded to 2.5 TB been really nice., addition. It does get hot, but using a laptop cooler significantly helps. Again price is hard to beat! Jarrod brotha, thank you for your amazing reviews as always!

The 7600S is that much better than the 6700M wile having 4 less CUs and drawing 20 Watts less? Is this version of RDNA3 fixed? I find it hard to belive that 5nm is so much better... This is Navi 33 I am now very interested to see what navi 32 that is set to come to laptops with 64 CUs has in store!!
This laptop runs Linux quite well after the recent kernel update. I booted Linux 6.5-rc2 and all of the hardware works. I'd say it even performs better than Windows with the reliable lid sleeping and waking function with the display graphics driver returning a proper image 😆
Nice. So does linux kernel 6.5 or later solve all the issues? Does the battery last as long?
@@EyobFitwi Linux 6.5 resolves many of the usability issues. What other issues were you experiencing?
@@adlitestradiolstearate I was just considering it for a future purchase and read a lot of negative experiences with linux. Most were from a few months however, and it seems all it needed was just the latest kernel. What OS did you use if you don't mind?
@@EyobFitwi you could get this laptop sub-$500 in the coming months and it wouldn't be a bad machine. If you think it'll meet your needs, it could be a good deal.
@@EyobFitwi my other reply seems to have been lost to the void...
I ran Windows, both the Asus build and Canary from Microsoft when I first got it. The Canary build had been better for use even if slightly less stable because the graphics drivers on the other build had stability issues.
These days Ubuntu 23.10 and any distribution based on Kernel 6.5 will get it working fine. The earlier kernels don't support all of the hardware nearly as harmoniously.
I've got Mint right now but that's because I build a custom ISO and installed a 6.5 kernel built from the LTS release.
So do the legends and therefore light blocking still rub off the keyboard in a few months of use, like previous TUF? Needing silicon keyboard covers, which raises temps, sucks.
I'm really looking forward to framework 16" with gpu, as where I'll go from my current Asus TUF. I guess that'll be 1-2 years from now.
Why have you not included Asus Rog Strix G15 advantage edition Rx6800M which was also an all AMD laptop in the comparison ?
Because it would make this look stupid. Realistically we should be seeing rx6800m performance at the $1000 laptop price point.
I just ordered the ASUS ROG Flow X16 for $1095 was that a good deal for a 2022 machine???
Very good deal!

Hi Jarrod awesome video! Would you choose A16 or A15? If it’s a15, the intel i7 12gen or the ryzen 7 6600 model? Specifically for fortnite
I got this for sale on Black Friday the fans on max are somewhat loud 50% basically blocks out the noise , the screen is amazing I had the MacBook Pro 2020 and the screen is easily comparable, gaming is great and easy not loud and thermals haven’t reached above 70 playing Jedi fallen order and forza 5 both on ultra holding above 60fps easy with no tearing battery life is great can watch RUclips and movies without worrying speakers are nice when you go into rhe mixer out of the box very play noise but has an immersive soundstage with voices and noises off screen actually sounds like they are in another location I recommend this laptop for anyone it really hits all the marks for the price
And this thins is sleek I wouldn’t be able to tell that this a a gaming laptop let alon one that can play most AAA. Titles with max settings
Thank you Jarrod for this review! I recently purchased the tuf a15 with 3060 graphics from last year since it seemed like a very value for money laptop. Also, my country prolly wont have the 4060 models of A16 till june/july this year with ridiculous prices so yeah. Not to forget, last years model has RGB so it’s definitely got that performance boost xd

How is the AV1 support on the new mobile GPUs? On paper they should support AV1 encode but how is the actual performance. If it's good then I would upgrade to the new gen rather than last gen.
Zen 3?
Out of date already then. And AMD know it, trying to bury the fact in the third digit of the model number.
Well they released slides explaining their new scheme but they hope a lot of people are not aware and purchase cpus from 2020 lmao
Definitely. Plus the GPU is a S version which means lower wattage. Most previous AE laptops were opposite as in uncompromised
Reaching 95°C in 21°C ambient room nice 👍🏼 meanwhile in my country 28-31°C is a normal day
Asus, come on, you need not to add some freaking features in it, just fix your cooling system, it's really bad.
It was a good review overall but I would like to suggest using fedora as the main OS for newer Asus' laptops. The latest kernel coupled with asuslinux support to control rgb, performance using their utilities is better documented for fedora.
plus one for this, but i don't think the request will be listened to.
The A16 is selling with a significant discount at Best Buy at the moment. That makes it an excellent buy, imo.

I have the exact same laptop, bought for around under 1k since there was a deal. Since literally Day 1 my “Graphics Drivers” have been crashing. When my game crashes in a game it says my drivers are either outdated or not up to date which they are. It could crash in literally any game even low demanding ones. Now the laptop does run games very smooth no stutters nothing like that but it just decides to crash on me whenever it feels like it. I have had this laptop for over 4 months now and still haven’t found a fix to it and I can no longer return it.
Maybe try uninstall gpu driver with DDU and then install a new driver from Asus website could help you. (I'm not sure since I use other brands laptop)

Asus Tuf A16 Thermal Throttling
I just got the laptop a few days ago.
You an idiot for asking that go play candy crush
Laptop works different compared to phone
Heres thing , if laptop done charging on whatever percentage u set up , the power will just go pass the battery's and just go to the mother board
If u want ur battery more healthy , just set it to all time 60% changing in Asus settings , it will helps a lot
Battery got limited voltage when comes to output , this limits the voltage for performance
So conclusion , plug in for everything u want to do and also performance based usage unplug for daily outdoor use (cannot do the things that's requires performance) (still can but not good and is bad)

Still waiting for Razer Blade 16 review with Mini-Led or 4080 GPU!
It’s capable of my needs which is mostly Cities Skylines 1 and some lightweight horror games! Love it! It’s so chic and snazzy too. I hate RGB. This thing as a more “industrial/professional” feel to it! Super groovy.
Wow that's a great deal!
Well this could be the best option for awarding it with worst laptop of the year
just FYI, its available for preorder with unknown length in polish ASUS shop. Costs about 1 750 for older and 2000 euro for newer ones.
Why all AMD? - Because AMD is cheaper and TUF is cheap lineup of gaming laptops.
That's a handsome laptop. Couldn't imagine buying AMD until there's a gpu agnostic DLSS/Frame gen equivalent though.
They have had FSR2 since last year.
@Philipp Munkes obviously not comparable to DLSS 3
You felt the pain in his voice while reviewing this all AMD laptop. I used to think tech RUclipsrs are not bias when it comes to reviewing tech. But I guess when it comes to Intel's deep pockets their tones are easily changed from unbias to bias.
He removed the 4070 from the results chart which this laptop performs very close too, he was heavily biased against amd but he seems to be a more neutral reviewer now
Dude it's just not up to par that's it stop reaching
Came here to evaluate the Framewok 16's performance.
This generation is really a big disappointment
