    Variations of the Cap D. Done with a Manuscript Pen Company's HIRO Leonardt EF Principal on GFSmith Colorplan paper using Winsor & Newton Lamp Black gouache. The various letters range from 17th right up to the 20th century and include some of my own designs.

    Thank you for recording the noise the nib makes when sliding on the paper. It is mesmerizing.

    Your words at the end of the video, "I'm tired", reminded me of Rousseau words from the end of his masterpiece "Émile or about education": "I have reached the end and my feather is tired".
    The page with the letter D that you showed us is also a small masterpiece ! Thank you and I will continue to improve myself !
    Greetings from Romania !

      I am glad you liked it. Writing that many variations and balancing them was taxing. I remember it even now.

    Even your basic letters look so elegant. You make it look soooo easy but that’s the mark of an expert. This type of video is useful to me because it just shows what can be achieved with a bit of artistic thought....there are ideas here I would never dream of! Just want to say thanks 😀

    Thank you for this. I have struggled with my D's and I knew that something was not quite right with them, but you helped me to look at the individual elements of my letter. At least I know the why's, now if I can get my hand, eye and pen to cooperate all the same time.... :)

    Paul, do you prefer black gouache to ink? Do you have a favorite brand of gouache (and ink if you use it?) Thanks so much for these videos, as they are so helpful and very inspirational.

    • @PAScribe
      @PAScribe  5 лет назад

      i love gouache. it has texture which assists the nib in not slipping on the paper. Ink is good for quick work. Glad you like the vids

    Would you consider doing the whole alphabet?😁 they're all so beautiful!!!!

    • @PAScribe
      @PAScribe  7 лет назад +1

      Kotori Sama that is for a later date. Each page took so much time to do as all the letters needed to be researched historically, then practised, then filmed (usually a few times). I am working on a project, after the manual is released which will should the whole alphabet but you may have to wait for a year for that.
