    I think Daemon just finds it amusing that all the nobles say he's power hungry and wants the throne and will do anything to get it.. meanwhile, those same highborn people judging him are tearing each other, and the realm, into pieces... for power.

      Actually, I think him keeping quiet was a good move. People will respect the King's command about not talking about the legitimacy than if it came from Corlys. And he knows the truth, what could he have said in that situation when d truth is known to everyone (bt can't speak about it)? Corlys talking about it will only open the doors for people to ask more questions.

      @@tosmaa Yes, I agree especially when Corlys is also pushing for Lucerys as heir to Driftmark. Truth or not, if the king says they are legitimate then no one will dare challenge that. Cobra Kai but even younger. It's actually quite sad when you realize they either lost a parent or got bullied. I believe Aemond, Jace, Baela, and Rhaena are about 9 in the story. Luke is about 7.
      The children fighting is a reflection of their parents fighting. But children are pretty important to why this civil war breaks out. It's very much like Cobra Kai with adults and kids fighting against each other.

      Alicent was mad that Rhaenyra lied to her and swore on her mother that nothing happened between her and Daemon. She wasn't mad about the incest, a little grossed out maybe but that wasn't why she was upset.

    • @TheNutCaseNetwork
      @TheNutCaseNetwork Год назад

      @@fcdddsf9294 She may not have been directly bothered by the incest, but she looked down on the Targaryen‘s for it. She had a superior aura about herself and her family bloodline that they are more “righteous“ and “holly”. Never having stooped to this level. That’s the vibe she’s been giving off to Rhaenyra their entire adult lives. Seeing herself as somehow “better” because she’s able to make better decisions. Or feeling entitled to some type of sympathy because she followed the rules. Following the rules and being “nice” doesn’t always mean you get what you want. Then to turn around and do the same things that she was being so judgmental about?? Crazy. Even taking the dagger and defying the King goes against her idealism of obeying the rules. It’s like someone who believes so much in the rules that they feel it’s ok to break the rules to enforce the rules on people who break the rules. Doesn’t make sense. So…. it looks hypocritical. Just being honest with my opinion.

    It’s funny how Alicent is so focused on the throne & Rhaenyra’s sins & her own misery in what life dealt her that she can’t even be a good mother & raise her kids to be decent human beings. It’s a twisted & cruel self-fulfilling prophecy. Yet she claims she’s doing it all for her kids. Otto claimed Daemon would be another tyrant but his own daughter is literally raising a possible tyrant to usurp the throne. Even when they were babies every time we saw her holding them they were crying & she’d hand them off to a nursemaid because she’d get too frustrated to deal with them. I saw in episode 3 that she was going to be a horrible mother. Even though you’d think she’d been raised to be the perfect wife & mother. She’s never shown them affection and you never see her children show each other love or affection. Yet in just the past 2 episodes you constantly see Rhaenyra show affection & motherly love & concern toward her children. You even hear them be polite & courteous with each other about who brought the egg back for the baby in episode 6 when no one is even listening to them. She’s constantly kneeling down to talk to them, hugging them, teaching them to show compassion to other people when they lose someone they love, ruffling their hair, not letting them out of her sight especially when Alicent or Cole are around. You saw them try to protect Daemons girls in that scuffle & then they tried to protect each other. When you first see them in the hall they are holding onto each other.Meantime Alicent’s kids just throw each other under the bus when shit hits the fan. Not to mention we’ve already seen Alicent repeat some of the abusive behavior of her own father. I find it extremely interesting that Rhaenyra, the one who never wanted to have kids, is winning mother of the year between the 2 of them right now as far as I’m concerned. In my opinion, the justification for Alicent’s actions are invalid. Above all, her ire should be directed toward her father for putting her in this situation. She & Rhaenyra we’re friends. If she could’ve set aside her jealousy & her own pride, she could’ve talked to her. They were raised together like sisters. She should’ve known her friend better than the bs her father, who literally sold her into a marriage to an old man she didn’t want, & been honest with her about everything from the very beginning when her dad first sent her in to talk to her father. That’s usually what best friends/sisters do. But, she let her father use that little seed of jealousy to grow into full blown hatred. Now she truly believes Rhaenyra doesn’t deserve the throne & the thing is it doesn’t matter that her kids are “bastards” because they are still Targaryens & their dragon eggs hatched so they both already have dragons. That’s why you literally see NO ONE else but Alicent dare talk about out kid or question their legitimacy because they wouldn’t dare. She’s the only one who keeps talking about it. When Aegon comes out with it that’s why everyone just looks down & doesn’t say anything because they’d rather just let it go but she’s the only one who refuses to. I’m sure some in the room would’ve loved to say, “ girl, we get it. They are not Laenors, but they’ve got like 4 dragons & another egg that could hatch any day so can you just shu

      I love how men claim Alicent is a complex character or THE most complex in the story. How they try to justify her actions and supply motivations for her dreadful conduct and treason. Even though she was initially manipulated by her father, many years have passed, and she has become as power-hungry as he is.
      Alicent is an arch manipulator - with a veneer of sweetness when she was young, and now plays the injured victim.

    Alicent is so wrong in so many ways, it’s almost jarring the character is permitted a continued existence in the story. Her entire mission is treasonous, petty, and transparently self serving. Her husband is the king. HE named Raynera. Clearly. So before any bodily fluids get involved, A is already in the wrong. Add to that the fact that the children she’s ostensibly “protecting” by all this nonsense have - at best - as much Targ in their blood as the ones she seeks to destroy. On top of all that, the “threat” that R represents is completely fabricated. Her father told her R was a threat to her children and she just lapped it up and acted on it. No conversation. No investigation or thought. She just decided that the blacks were a mortal threat and set about abandoning her own sanity to eradicate them. When Otto makes reference to “the game” they’re playing at, I wonder what A feels is the nature of that game? Clearly the game involves destroying het husband’s children and seizing power. It’s certainly not about any immediate threat. He’s commending his daughter for having become a sociopathic monster.

    • @alik5895
      @alik5895 Год назад +2

      That's not how it works. Alicent's kids are a breathing threat to Raynera's legitimate claim. So long as they live there will be houses in the kingdoms that will plot against Raynera on her ascension. Don't you get that?

    • @paulcashion8049
      @paulcashion8049 Год назад +4

      Vic is in the wrong not Alicent. The historical precedent is that there have been no female rulers, ever, and that the first male heir inherits the throne. Vic named Ray his heir when he had no sons. When he did this no one in the realm or the lords that knelt for her believed this was a permanent installment. They believed that Vic would remarry and have children again even though he was so blinded by grief he couldn't see it. As soon as he had Aegon he should have reaffirmed publicly his commitment to Ray being the heir and changed the rules that from that point on for Targaryen succession, that the oldest living child will inherit the throne. Westeros is a society built on control over sex and male heir succession. Every house follows these rules and have for a long time. To change the rules nationwide would cause widespread civil unrest and I believe assassination attempts at Vic. I personally believe simply establishing the rule to bind his own family would have been acceptable to everyone. Ray having bastards also complicated and exacerbated the problems already existing. It was a slap in the face to Alicent personally and really a nose up and middle finger to the realm. Rules are for you, not for me. Ray's children are not legitimate and by law and precedent again would not inherit from Ray, she'd need trueborn children. Vic and through him Ray feel they can flaunt the established way, break rules, and do whatever they want without consequence. People like this will always cause turmoil and strife. Even if we really like them.

      @@paulcashion8049 Every king in Westeros bends the rules and yes: it is very much a double standard. Of course both Vis and Ray share the blame here, but those two are at least trying to do their duty and keep the realm from exploding. Ray never threatened A’s kids. On the contrary she offered to join their houses ! Alicent spit it back at her and why? She can’t claim the threat against her children is real AND refuse the marriage of the kids. Nobody made the threat and the offered union completely negates it. Of course Ray and V make mistakes, but it’s Alicent who’s hell bent on going to the mattresses all for some weird jealous power trip based on events a decade in the past.

    • @legzdiamond2356
      @legzdiamond2356 Год назад

      @@alik5895 So if Vis legitimized the kids and admitted to their bastardy? What then? It’s well within his powers as king to do it, and I’m sure any potential rebellion still exists whether or not it happens. It’s not for Alicent to question the legitimacy of heir’s children. There will always be challenges to succession, but if both families are United in common cause the threats are at least lessened. V already killed a wife on purpose just because of the prophecy as he perceived it. He’s a monarch. He gets to do whatever he wants. That’s the overriding rule in Westeros. It’s not blood or family or theoretical rebellion. It’s whatever the king says. In this case he’s been pretty clear. A little less forceful than is necessary, perhaps, but clear. Alicent knows all this and so do her councilors. That’s why they keep the king’s death a secret. They’re being secretive because they’re doing something wrong, and they know it. Your argument seems to be that because the blacks might go to war over the throne, Alicent might as well start that war through treachery and try to win before the other side can act. The fact is that it’s Alicent’s duty to do as her king bids, not to second guess his directives and assault his grandchildren.
