I think bastards born in king’s landing are called waters
Dohearis, what Aemond says to the dragon before he rides is is SERVE in high valerian. It is a command taught to bring a dragon to your will. Also, dragons can have multiple riders. When one dies the dragon can be claimed by another rider. A rider, will only ever have one dragon. Dragons live to hundreds of years old so obviously they can be claimed over and over again if they accept the rider. Riders, if their dragons die, never get another dragon. The king claimed Balerion, the oldest dragon but when he died, he never got another one.
THE GUARD!! DAEMON KILLED THAT GUARD TO BE THE PRETEND LAENOR CORPSE IN THE FIRE!!!
Daemon didn’t laugh because he found the funeral funny. He laughed because Vaemond was passively aggressively using the eulogy to say that Rhaenyra’s kids were bastards
It's more like he kept saying the blood was tick. That's like someone talking about an unfortunately very ugly person is magnificent to make up for it. lol Although maybe he was throwing shades at his brother, I don't know.

"You will have a dragon one day."
And then Helaena whispered,
"He'll have to close an eye."

I think not enough people actually realize Vhagar is actually one of the three dragons on the Targaryen sigil. Claiming Vhagar is a humongous deal.
Most miss this point in this episode. I wish they'd had a line by Laena in the previous episode about how significant Vhagar is, that way the weight of Aemond claiming her in this episode would have been far greater.
The kid actors in this episode were all amazing - especially Aemond.
Late to comment but I agree wholeheartedly. Having watched the episodes again, the fight between the kids still feels so powerful. So many things went really well with that scene (lighting, staging, directing, etc) but the kids especially really really nailed it. So amazing.
Vhagar was the oldest living Dragon at the time. She was testing the boy with that wild ride, seeing if he was worthy to be her rider. Game of Thrones had already established that Dragons were highly intelligent.
Wait, I still don't think dragons inherently have a gender (there is a theory that they can change it at will to reproduce), I think their gender is more identified by their riders, and Vhagar has had some prominent female ones. Daenarys identifies her dragons with her brothers and husband, while Balerion is largely considered a masculine representation of Valyria and of Aegon's glory. Actually, that makes me wonder, has there ever been mention of sexual reproduction for dragons? The Maesters make assumptions, but the Dragons could be asexual right? They don't even have behavioural traits defined by anything other than their own individuality, so maybe they are just asexual and even androgynous since the Maesters can only identify their gender by whether they lay eggs or not. Interesting idea, maybe it just doesn't matter, but it is certainly intrigueing. (I realise I just pat myself on the back there, so I'll digress in my embarrassment.)
If aemond didn’t claim vhagar, the greens would’ve lost the war within months
@@theperson8539
No, dragons have gender. The author of the books himself said that Vhagar is the SISTER to Balerion The Black Dread who was male.

Daemon laughed because Laena's uncle was talking about Laena's daughters and how they were her heir and blood while at the same time eyeing Rhaenyra's boys because everyone knows they aren't Velaryons. he laughed because the jab was just not subtle at all.
He was getting the attention off of her kids. All eyes were on the boys as Corlys brother was talking about “the blood” etc…. No matter how you feel about Daemon, he loves Rhaenyra and will do whatever he has to for her, including protecting her and Harwins boys.
I got it. Also got the fact Alicents anger wasnt due to son losing eye, it was all the years of resentment, jealousy and hate because of what she has had to put up with and how Rhaenyra gets to do what she wants.
Rhaenrya/Daemon Fanboys and girls are delusional he likes his niece and laughs doesn’t mean anything he’s terrible 😂
Wait when did Daemon and Harwin become friends?? Was that in the book because it wasn’t presented in the show. Just curious
they didn't even realize who died in the end. Although you saw that daemon attacked someone
@@illumantix3008 Sorry I disagree and I'm no Fangirl of either side. They are human, some are kinder than others but human none the less.
The reason Aemond suddenly was mean and insulting towards Jace and Luce was because he resented them for their prank with the pig. When he finally claimed a dragon of his own he went on a power trip because he felt like it was his turn to get back at them. Imagine going from being a bullied second son without a dragon when almost all your relatives have one, to a dragonrider in your own right with the largest dragon in the world at your side. These kids and their relationships towards eachother are... messy
true... kids can be shits!
It’s sad that earlier in the episode, at the funeral, Aemond looked like he was going to say something sympathetic to Jacaerys but stopped himself - likely because of what Alicent has told him about Jacaerys and Lucerys.
They've all been fed poison their whole lives, so you can't really expect their relationships to be anything but messy.
Aemond was a shy introvert before he bonded with Vhagar. But suddenly finding yourself the owner of the largest and strongest dragon in Westeros is a big confidence builder
@@Knightfang1 i wonder if the bond between a dragon and its rider really do causes some kind of personality change, like, magically or something

The person that died at the end was the person Daemon choked out and killed the scene prior to Laenors fight. It was all staged by Daemon and Rhaenyra.
Not choked, Daemon snap his neck, u can hear it.
Oh, so Rhaenyra never intended to kill him? She and Daemon helped him fake his death? I totally missed that last night. I thought Laenor's lover was solely responsible. That makes me feel better. I thought it went against Rhaenyra's character to murder someone she loves. But what we will do to protect our children can be scary.
poor servant...
@@amymoquin8636 Daemon respects Laenor and Rhaenyra, while not in love with Laenor, does love him platonically. They didn't want to kill him, but they knew that in order for them to marry, Laenor had to either die or to be assumed dead. So Daemon told Qarl that Laenor's "death" had to have a witness. Qarl and Laenor pretended to fight in front of one of the servants, Daemon previously snapped the neck of the other servant. The dead servant was then thrown into the fire, so that his entire face and hair would burn, and people would assume it is Laenor, when in fact it wasn't. Laenor had to shave his head so that people wouldn't recognise him by the hair. Daemon and Rhaenyra sent him and Qarl away to be happy and free, everyone assumes that Laenor is dead, so Rhaenyra is a widow and can remarry. Daemon and Rhaenyra are now married, and their children will technically be legitimate, because Laenor is "dead".
@@mdnblues I like that that is what really happened, because the tales the Maester was telling in the book just felt really bizarre and sudden.
The fight between the kids was probably the most shocking part for me. It was so well done!
David Lightbringer pointed out how shrewd and cunning Aemond was, how he read the room and weighed the consequences (of throwing his brother under the bus rather than his mother) and how he de-escalated the situation in the throne-room. It goes towards countering his escalation of the violence with his nephews.
Also disgusting that Otto’s spent Alicent’s life forcing her to be perfect, chaste, modest etc. and the moment she’s violent, he tells her he didn’t believe she had it in her.
The person I feel sorry for the most in this episode is Aegon.. he doesnt want to be King, his grandfather yokes him up for being drunk, his mother slaps him and blames him for his brother losing an eye, He is engaged to his sister he doesnt even like, and he fathers yells at him and he gets blamed for calling his nephews bastards when he didnt do it.. A note on the dragons. Aemond's victory wasn't just that his side now has a dragon -- they already have Aegon and his sister Helaena's dragons. You can see Aemond's dragon Vhagar flying to join them as the ship sails away. But Vhagar is the biggest dragon alive, so yeah gaining a third dragon would always be good, but Vhagar is a HUGE gain.

This episode was absolute incredible. That old school Game of Thrones feeling really came back. Everyone stepped up their acting, but I was most impressed with the child actors. I was always pumped for the next episode, but now I'm hooked.
Also, the King still hanging in there with his health and the stress from his family during that time period is the craziest part. He said he's going 15 rounds with death.
I don't have the old school feeling personally because I don't care about these characters as much cause of the time jumps. But it's very entertaining.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 Read up on Daemon, read it as historical fiction for a period you already know about. Believe me, Martin wrote it that way, and it feels phenomenal that way. There are so many winks to book readers like there would be to history buffs that it almost reminds me of Rome, which was historical fiction, but possibly even better than GOT's peak at times. Believe me, give the wiki a read and then give the show a go while pretending it's actually historical fiction, it's an entirely different - and arguably superior - experience.
@@theperson8539 alright thanks 🍺
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 no problem.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 See these early episodes as more of a build-up to the real story. When the kids grow up is where the time jumps stop.
This episode is PEAK Game of Thrones. Political turmoil coming to a head, grief, emotion, anger... the moment I thought Rhaenyra and Daemon killed Laenor, I was shocked. I didn't think I could ever support them again but the reveal at the end... thank GOD!!! I sighed such relief at Laenor surviving and now getting to live his best life a free man! Such a brilliant episode with wonderful performances all round.
Let’s not forget that they still killed a random innocent dude from the palace and for all intents and purposes Laenor is dead, so everyone who loved him will still mourn which is really fucked up as well. I get that Alicent is kinda crazy but Rhaenyra started all this mess to begin with by lying about not having sex and then later (the ultimate fuck up) having illegitimate children which is extremely irresponsible especially when your children are heirs to the bloody throne. “Oh but Rhaenyra and Laenor tryed” they should have tryed harder I guess you can’t get away with like “yeah we gave it a shot let’s give up now”, having bastards in their world is asking for trouble, people will start to rightfully question your sons claim and there will be war, the stakes of having bastards are insane and Rhaenyra chose that option.
Daemon is such a great character. The reason he has such an attitude about things is that his own brother won't listen to him. He sees what's going on around him and knows that his brothers weakness is going to lead to unneeded issues.
He knows and sees it unfolds.. steps away
then sees his family in trouble then has the the fire to go to war again
Also a monster . Murdered his innocent first wife. Allowed his second wife to commit suicide. Murdered another innocent man in order to marry his niece and gain power.
The Aemond Vhagar scene stands out for me in this episode. I loved every minute of it. When the traditional Targaryen Aaaaaaaaaaaahh theme kicked in I lost it 🙌😩💯🔥🔥🔥
Aemond’s ride with Vhagar wasn’t the best scene of the episode but it was my favourite.
You can grasp all the wonder and majesty of riding a dragon, as well as the sheer danger and terror that comes with being unprepared to ride one.

Otto's comment wasn't about getting a dragon, they already had dragons. It was about getting Vhagar, the OG.
Dragons can have multiple riders since they can live very long times, outliving most of there riders. However, dragon riders can only bond with one dragon in their lifetime
Vhagar, for example, had Visenya, Aegon's sister wife, and Baelon, Daemon and Viserys's father, as riders before Laena.
So what happens to Seasmoke, now that Leanor is still alive?

Someone will bond with him, the name is Addam of Hull, he has valyrian blood.
@@tsheporabekane4172 The lore is unclear on this subject. It’s possible that Seasmoke will believe that Laenor has died. There is also no known history of a rider ever abandoning a dragon.
So the fate is unclear.
@@CraigKostelecky: Thank you for clearing that up. We shall see how the show runners explain the potential plot hole.
Aemond went from being the runt to the most powerful being in Westeros. It makes sense for him to be feeling invincible because not only did he go through crippling fear to face the biggest dragon in Westeros and to successfully claim it without getting disintegrated, but to then also go on his first flight and nearly fall to his death but thankfully he held on so he avoided death twice and came out on top with the biggest dragon in Westeros.
Targaryen and Velaryon bastards are called dragonseeds. Great reaction as always! This episode was incredible and that sequence of Aemond claiming Vhagar was so beautifully done. I love that grumpy grandma dragon!
Shayia no the nickname Dragonseed refers specifically to bastards fathered on Dragonstone due to the ancient tradition of “first night” which is no longer practiced. Rhaenyra’s bastards would be called “Waters”.
Are you sure @Big L? I thought it was blackfyre not waters. Considering the Blackfyre rebellion and the premise of that arc.
The bastard’s surname depends on what region he was born. Example -
Waters for King’s Landing and Dragonstone
Snow for the North
Pyke for the Iron Islands
Rivers for the Riverlands
Stone for the Vale
Hill for the Westerlands
Flowers for the Reach
Storm for the Stormlands
Sand for Dorne

36:02 it was daemon and rhaenyra's plan to fake laenor's death (qarl and laenor agreed and executed it). daemon literally provided the corpse using a servant. guys you need to pay attention to details
I don't think it was daemon and rhaenyra's plan to do so, because daemon asked qarl for a quick death, but qarl left the corpse to burn to disfigure him, I would like to think that qarl and laenor made the plans later in a spur of the moment to leave, I always assume the worse of all the parties involved because they're all assholes in some way that's including daemon and rhaenyra.
@@arunabhsrivastava7841 I still think that Laenor's death was orchestrated by Rhaenyra and Daemon. The servant who had been killed earlier by a broken neck was the quick death without witnesses. The sword fight between Laenor and Qarl intentionally had a witness who brought the parents as well as other people to make it seem believable that really Laenor had died. Vhagar was originally owned by Visenya, sister of Aegon. Vhagar was the smallest of the three dragons but fought valiantly during Aegon’s Conquest. At this time, she is now the largest living dragon.
Make no mistake, Vhagar is a mighty old dragon and doesn’t bow to just anyone.
But at this point Vhagar is the largest and most experienced. Having her was a huge gain for the greens.

I knew he would be a villain after last week and how emotional he got about the pig. He’s like his mother and doesn’t take well to being wronged. He’s been dying to show what he’s made of. Otto called him a rogue but I don’t think he’s ever been more proud of his daughter and he respects the move that Aemond made and the fact he doesn’t care about losing his eye at all when he gained a dragon. I could totally see him getting rid of his brother. Aemond is an intriguing character and given the tendency of second sons in this world I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Evil from her mom womb lol
I feel sorry for Viserys; he has completely lost control of his kingdom. He is simply a figurehead now. Plus, I like that brief look between Ser Harold and Ser Criston; if the Lord Commander was not there, I think that Ser Criston would have obeyed Alicent's orders. I think the Commander recognized that; you could see the horror in his eyes. So much hate and the desire for revenge in that room. As far as Rhaenyra and Daemon is concerned, what happened was ugly, but...I fear it is necessary. They can't afford weakness, not with so many enemies allied against them. Yet, it was amazing that Rhaenyra still didn't cross the line. The death of a servant, rather than the man who tried to help her, interesting.
I hate Daemon for not reconciling with Viserys after so many years. Daemon is just as bitter as sir Crispin Cole.
Poor Viserys has no one. His wife and daughter hate eachother. His sons and grandsons hate eachother. His hand is an untrustworthy schemer.
I wanna see some scenes with Viserys and Helaena. Maybe Viserys can find some peace and happiness with his younger daughter.
I think the Commander look had an added line because Alicent revealed her and Criston were closer than him just being her sworn knight of the kingsguard with that move. And him moving to help her when she attacked Rhaenyra confirmed it, not to mention it was Cole who was on guard that night and didnt notice literally all of the children leaving and having a fight... Which, would raise some questions and eyebrows in terms of what their relationship is and what he would be capable of to do if he wasnt kept in check.
And yeah I feel bad for Viserys too, he just doesnt have it in him to actually punish anyone and it ends up just getting worse, cause he keeps hoping people will see the bigger picture like he does eventually and come to their senses. But the bigger picture, isnt the same for them. Ever since Alicents little stunt at Rhaenyras wedding I couldnt help but think how lucky she is to be married to a man like Viserys, I think almost every noble wouldve punished the hell out of her with how she was behaving. And even more so with her obsession with Rhaenyra and her children being bastards.
This is in the series. They didn't want to make Rhae that bad, at least not this soon.
While in the book Laenor dies, the fact that he died because of Rhae and Daemon, is just a rumour. That his done becaue the book is written by a 3rd party, that doesn't have inside information about it. But is almost certain the fact that was Rhae and Daemon.
In the series, they wanted to keep that aspect, but didn't want to cast such a shadow into Rhae. So it was a fake death.
Still this bring the problem of Laenor dragon, that given that he isn't dead, shouldn't be able to be claimed by anybody. It seems now he will need to die somewhere in Essos unbeknown to everybody.
Viserys was the one who caused all of this mess
@@cmd7930 Yeah! Daemon is the classic man who feels tough If he holds grudges. 🙄
47:28 Since King's Landing and Dragonstone are in the area of Westeros known as the Crownlands, Rhaenyra's sons should have the last name of "Waters".
Roughly seventy years after the events of House of the Dragon, a Targaryen bastard known as Daemon Waters (I think you can guess who he's named after) changes his name to Daemon Blackfyre and starts the first of five rebellions against the crown. The Blackfyre Rebellions play a big part in the "Dunk and Egg" stories, which I HIGHLY encourage reading.
Aemond didn’t “steal” Vhagar you can’t steal or own a dragon as Dany had said
It chooses its rider
I really, really loved the aesthetic and design of the Valyrian wedding.
You get the impression that it’s all harking back to a much more ancient, tribal custom that the Valyrians have needed to hold onto as the primacy of blood and magic is so important to their culture, and their control of Dragons and they want to change as little as possible for fear of upsetting that control.
It’s just so different to any wedding we’ve seen, and shows just how alien the Valyrians are in Westeros even now as when they’re in their element and living up to their traditions, it’s so different to the traditions and customs of their native subjects.
It's both awesome and hilarious at this is the happiest wedding we've seen in this universe. Rhaenrya and Daemon looked genuinely happy for once. Good writing is when you can make your readers question your own morality. xD Can't help but ship them.
First wedding without massive casualties too (except nameless guard guy, RIP).
It was as much a Blood Oath as a Wedding. Loved it. Bounded by blood, we 're gonna dominate the World, baby.

Vhagar was Queen Visenya's dragon (one of Aegon The Conqueror's sister-wives). Vhagar (female dragon) is the oldest and largest dragon alive at the time of the show.
Even if Larys Strong managed to married Alicent somehow, she is not next in line after King Viserys dies. She is just his Queen Consort, not the ruling crowned monarch. His heir, Rhaenyra is supposed to take the throne but Alicent (& Otto) have been scheming to put her son, Aegon on the Iron Throne, as he is the lawful first born son. Larys Strong has no claim whatsoever as Alicent would basically be "demoted" down to Queen Mother, as soon as Viserys kicks the bucket, because immediately after he dies, Aegon & his sister-wife Helaena would be crowned as the next (usurper) King & Queen. Now she could push Aegon to name him as Hand (although I think Otto would stay in that position) or give Larys a high seat on the small council in some capacity - maybe master of whispers or master of coins perhaps?
Easily one of my favorite episodes in the entirety of the GoT universe.

In regards to the 4vs1 fight: Aemond talked sh*t and got hit. BUT they put hands on him first. You dish it, you better take it. No matter what, that kid fight was some real looking stuff. Those hits had impact. It was a great job by the kid actors. 👍
To add to what you said, Aemond only talked shit after they ganged up on him for something he was allowed to do and had very good reason to do after all the implied bullying he suffered over his lack of a dragon. He didn't seek them out, he didn't throw the first hit, and he was outnumbered 4 to 1 like you said. The kid was the biggest victim in that fight and still he is portrayed by a lot of people like he was to blame for it simply for not being kind (he didn't actually talk shit until _after_ he got attacked, before that he was just rude to the girls who accused him of stealing).

Remember Helena, the Kings other daughter, foretold in the last episode Aemond would lose an eye for getting a dragon! I think she’s seer don’t know if they realize that yet.
Yes, she was cryptic in this episode as well (something about blacks and greens, the hand looms and dragons of flesh will weave dragons of threads). It's up to the audience to interpret. Like what they're doing with Helaena. Last episode she also said, the head has eyes but cannot see (Viserys?) and the last ring is broken and has no legs (Bran?).

Pretty crazy how she levels up her chess game just so she can thot around with her uncle
Murdered an innocent man you mean?
Besides Corlys and Rhaenys
- Daemon was laughing because Vaemond was accusing Rhaenyra's children of being illegitimate during his speech
- Vhagar is the oldest and largest dragon alive (and is a she), so Aemond being able to claim her is a HUGE deal.
- The Greens already have dragons, both Aegon and Helaena are dragonriders. But with Vhagar, their roster just got MUCH stronger.
- The charred corpse at the end was the servant whose neck got snapped by Daemon, they used him to fake Laenor's death.
AEmond is badass he took and claims, he understand the rules of this game
I think the guy, who's killed by Daemon in the Halls of Hightight was the guy in the fire - he takes the role of Laenor. I like the scene with Aemond and Vhagar. This episode was very cool. The bastard-name in the Crownlands was Water and in Stormlands was Storm. Rivers for the Riverlands. I think the names of the kids of Rhaenyra must be Waters - when it was official - it comes from the place of revidence of the mother, by bastardkids.
Yeah people didn't catch that (myself included) but I rewatched the scene because I was so confused. It's 100% the dude Daemon killed that was in the fire.

Not enough talk on Alicent's weird daughter. She predicted her brother would get a dragon, but lose an eye, and that happened. Now this episode she's playing with a spider she traps in shell. What is that premonition??
The spider shall be trapped by his own design. This is my prediction, and part of my head canon writer-wise, but the visual of Helaena trapping the spider in the shell is significant. I think she's weird, but not crazy, just gifted with green seer or Dreamer abilities.
Right after Helaena trapped the spider in the shell the camera moved to Larys "The Spider" Strong. Something is coming for him.

Dragons choose their riders. If Vhagar didn't want Aemond it would have burned him.
He's not a dick, he's just a Targaryen who really wanted a dragon
I just want to point out that we saw 5 dragons in a single shot this episode. The most we've ever seen in a single shot or scene in this franchise before is 3.
The body in the fireplace at the end was the guy Daemon killed by breaking his neck on the stairs where all the candles were
I feel Aemond was quite mature given the circumstances...he diffused that situation
aemond didnt just win a dragon but the biggest / strongest of them all

Aemond is such a badass. Having the courage to face a huge beast like Vhagar is something else, im sure most adults were afraid of her too. Vhagar could kill him, but she accepted him, because he is brave and worthy. This is such an important moment, without Vhagar Alicent and the greens couldnt stand a chance, but claiming her really turned the tide.
Let’s be honest if they weren’t so tyrannical him and Daemon would both make good strong kings but instead they end up as rivals fighting over two womens claims who are both completely unworthy Daemon is pretty much the reason the blacks win and Aemond is the only reason the greens stood a chance.

Rhaenerya kind of did throw House Velaryon under the bus for the sake of strengthening her own claim, haha
Who would you choose if you were Rhaenyra and needed strength and power? Laenor or Daemon? Daemon obviously. He is smart, a Targaryen prince, has a powerful red long-necked boi, has made a name for himself over the years. And it's also a bonus that Rhaenyra loves him and he loves her.
Tbh it was laenors choice too, this decision is just added why I like Rhenaerya, like she understands people and understands that the world isn't black and white, and doesn't deny that she operates in the grey. She saw the same in Leanor and saw his suffering and found a way to set him free
It's tragic how the younger kids were "friends" or at least got along, maybe not best buddies but still amicable. Thanks to the scheming & gossiping of adults (mainly Alicent & Otto), it is turning all the kids against each other. Aegon II is just a spoiled prince who wants to get drunk & party with all the young ladies he can get. He doesn't want to be King or marry his sister but he is just a pawn, just like Alicent was used by Otto when she was a teenager. Young Aemond is just taking his first baby steps towards being the villain he will become later. Watching him tame & ride Vhagar was so fun to watch, reminded me of Jon mounting Rhaegal for the first time.
The King has the power to legalize any "bastard" born out of wedlock. Remember in GoT after the Battle of Winterfell, Queen Daenerys legitimized Gendry Rivers as the true son of King Robert Baratheon & named Gendry as Lord of Storm's End castle. So regardless if Rhaenyra's kids were sired by Harwin Strong, they still have Targaryen blood just like Jon Snow, who was half Targaryen & half Stark. Don't forget all of Cersei's kids were sired by her twin brother. So they were 100% Lannister, yet they all carried the Baratheon name. So two of her bastard sons were crowned King & sat upon the Iron Throne.
Wow some sweet and profound words stated by Steven. “Never hate yourself folks. You are all amazing people.” Loved this. ❤❤❤❤❤ You are so right.
This episode was so insanely good. I love this show!!
Hi pretty Nikki! 😍👋🏼👋🏼
@@Ashley_e hello sweet friend. Hope you’re doing well 🥰👋🏾👋🏾
The bastard thing - Nikki was completely correct. Bastards in The North are called Snow, in Riverlands - Rivers; in the Westrerlands - Hill; in the Vale - Stone; in Reach - Flowers; in Stromlands - Storm; on The Iron Islands - Pyke; in Dorne - Sand; and in the Crownlands, including Kingslanding - Waters
Dragons choose their own riders, once their riders die then can bond with anyone else,it doesn't have to pass off to the rider's kids
Bastard surnames are given based on the place the child is raised. There's one name for every region in the seven kingdoms and they are:
The North -> Snow
The Riverlands -> Rivers
The Vale -> Stone
The Iron Islands -> Pyke
The Westerlands -> Hill
The Reach -> Flowers
The Crownlands -> Waters
The Stormlands -> Storm
Dorne -> Sand
Rhaenyra's children were born in the Crownlands so that means their bastard surname should be Waters.
At the "he is such a sweet baby" on Aemond part, looking forward to the rest... :D
Steven asked about the history of dragons, so here it is:
-I must start Balerion, the Black Dread, the largest dragon history and the last one to see Valyria (Targaryens fled about 114 years before Aegon conquered Westeros). His riders were Aegon I, the Conqueror; Maegor I, the Cruel; Aerea Targaryen; and Viserys, although it was once and Balerion died right after (this was in 94 AFTER Aegon, so Balerion was at least 208).
-Vhagar's original rider was Visenya, the Conqueror's sister and wife. Vhagar's other riders were Baelon Targaryen (Viserys and Daemon's father); and obviously Leana Velaryon and Aemond Targaryen.
-The dragon Aemond saw last episode was Dreamfyre. Her riders were Rhaena Targaryen, Jaehaeryes older sister, and (in the book at least) Helaena Targaryen. Fun fact: Daenerys eggs MIGHT be Dreamfyre's.
-Viserys and Alicent's son Aegon rides Sunfyre (this was mentioned last episode).
-Daemon's dragon is called Caraxes, the Blood Wyrm.
-Rhaenyra's dragon is called Syrax.
-Rhaenys's dragon is called Meleys, the Red Queen. Meleys was also ridden by Alyssa Targaryen, Viserys and Daemon's mother.
-Jacaerys's dragon is called Vermax.
-Leanor's dragon is called Seasmoke.
-Baela's dragon (still unmetioned in the show) is Moondancer.
There are also other dragons, but I won't trouble you guys with their names (yet).
Answering the questions about bastardy: The bastard's name is related to the place they grow up (Jon Snow was born in Dorne, but given the name of the North. Ramsey was also a Snow). Bastards born in the Crownlands are named Waters (funny for a Targaryen, normally associated with FIRE).
Hope this helps!
Great breakdown! Thank you so much ♥️
About the bastards of house Targaryen; I thought their bastards are named Blackfyre, considering the premise of the Blackfyre Rebellion. Could be wrong, but I believe it's a valid question nonetheless. I saw Dragonseeds brought up in the comments as well. I think this could be a fun debate: Waters vs. Blackfyre vs. Dragonseed
And then we can talk about Cannibal, the wild dragon, said to be larger even than Balerion
@@loe_chil Blackfyres are just one of the branches of Targaryen bastards, basically one of the bastards took the backfyre surname and they descend from him. Dragonseeds more common to use but only colloquialy, not legally. The legal surname of any bastard regardless of who is their father is still decided on where they were born or raised.
@@loe_chil The name started years later when Aegon IV Targaryen legitimized all of his bastards. He gave Daemon his sword Blackfyre. A lot of people took this as an omen that Daemon was the rightful king. Since Blackfyre has always been passed from king to heir. So Daemon took on the name Daemon Blackfyre.

No matter what team you are,you gotta admit that a dragon can't be stolen,it's claimed and aemond is the victim. Rhaenyra did the same with syrax, aemond did the same with Vhagar. It could have burnt him in a second but it bonded with him. I get that laena's daughter wanted it,but that's not how it works. Dragons are no property or inheritance that it has to pass on to the previous rider's children, any targaryen can claim any dragon. Daemon was giggling not as a defense mechanism but rather because he knew that Corlys' brother was throwing serious shade in his eulogy, by talking about how Velaryon blood runs thick, knowing that Rhaenyra's boys are not Laenor's offsprings.
Daemon killed a guy on the steps by breaking his neck earlier. I assume he was in the fire. This varied from the book, so it was a MASSIVE shock to everyone. I am really happy Laenor is alive, but so sad he’s gone. He was a great character, and I loved his and Rhaenyra’s relationship. They may not have been in love but you can’t deny the love they had for one another. Also, if you read the captions during the eulogy for Laena you would see that Vaemond Valyerian was taking swipes at Rhaenyra’s children. It was pretty f’ed up. He may be a bad seed but Aemond as Enormous balls. Good Lord. As a child he took the biggest Dragon in the land. And position himself in a place of strenght. And he's clearly more bright that his older brother too. The way during the funeral he said he would marry his sister for duty while his brother was calling her crazy. And the way he called on Otto when Aegon was drunk. Or the way he "saved" his mom during the brouhaha. This kid not only has balls but he will have the cold savy of Otto and a cool eye to boot.
As far as the others, I loved how Rhaenyra finally started to strike back. Either by saying to Alicent "now they finally see you for what you are". And also taking action and make plans whether by marrying Daemon or having her husband leave. I think she remembered the Criston Cole incident where he wanted to go away with her and thought it would be a good idea for her husband to leave with his boyfriend. I must admit though that I wished somehow the Daemon-Rhaenyra reunion would have been more romantic. But oh well. Planification for War will do, I guess. lol

Rhaenyra has Meleys, Caraxes, Syrax, Seasmoke and Vermax... Aemond tried to avoid fighting alone with Vhagar, he used Vhagar mainly in ambushes and against younger Dragons.
Aemond was definitely feeling a personality change after claiming Vhagar. Remember though, dragons are not slaves nor property -- they cannot be stolen. Fair is fair, and Aemond was brave enough to do what Laena told her daughter to, take the power herself rather than waiting for her egg to hatch. You can say he's a dick for beating up his girl cousins, but it was a 4v1.
He’s not a dick for fighting back, he’s a dick for being cold and insulting to Rhaena in the house of her mother and right after the funeral, and effectively calling her a pig even though she had not done anything to him and they’d literally just met.

Tbh it was rude of him to claim Vhagar on the funeral of their mom but the Blacks really weren’t innocent party either at him.
It sort of seemed like there was some of mystical exchange between the two for a bit. Maybe that's how dragons bound with their riders. I always wished they did that on GoT.
