    Vehicle: 2019 RAM 1500 HEMI with eTorque
    Host: Nick Cappa, RAM Trucks with Charlie Romero from Roadfly
    The new Ram 1500 uses the longest, lightest and most efficient frame in the half-ton truck segment. The chassis has reduced weight by 120 pounds - 100 pounds from the frame alone delivering a maximum payload of 2,300 pounds and maximum trailer tow capacity of 12,750 pounds. The strongest Ram 1500 frame ever produced includes the same impact countermeasures across all configurations, and is made from 98 percent high-strength steel. Exclusive front splayed frame rail technology (patent pending) creates a highly efficient energy absorbing structure for all impact modes, including front-offset with frame integration forward of front tire. Also, frame-mounted high-strength steel tire blockers are placed behind the front tires to force wheels outward in the event of impact. Additionally, side rails are taller and fully boxed. To further improve NVH, new electronically controlled side-frame-mounted active tuned-mass modules (ATMM) work in harmony with an interior active noise cancellation (ANC) system on 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 equipped models to reduce ambient sounds down to a low 67.1 db - the quietest Ram 1500 ever. Rear cross members are double sheer welded to the inside and outside of the frame for improved durability and roll stiffness.
    2019 Ram 1500 delivers significant gains in fuel efficiency with eTorque mild hybrid system on second generation 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engines - widest use of mild hybrid technology in the segment.

    Nick is golden! Super informative. Wish there were other Ram videos with him describing all the details of the new Ram. Shopping for my next truck and this is at the top of the list.

    Nick Cappa is the MAN! One of the best interviews on the new RAM out there. Besides the poor microphone and volume issues, this was a really good review. Thanks.

    I have a 2020 Limited, probably the best vehicle I ever owned. The "mutlifunction tailgate"? I'll never have another truck without it.

    I've got a limited etorque and love it! The start stop function is the best in the industry, no engine shudder like the Ford Eco. I wish the 130lbs torque etorque would kick in more often.

      F-150 KING OF TRUCKS and if does I pony up and got the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty for $2700, no one else does this. Well worth it for the piece of mind and I'll hand it off to my son.

      How do you know, when etorque is active or not? Is there an etorque guage? And how do you know what mode its in? I feel like I drive blind not knowing what etorque is doing...

    Maybe the last added electronic needed[wanted] is a HUD with normal gauges and a sound info panel in between speedometer etc

    • @roadfly
      @roadfly  6 лет назад +1

      Totally agree, I really can't get along w/out HUD anymore. As long as it's done well that is so it doesn't cause eye strain.

    Beautiful truck! I wish though that RAM would choose to put full hybrid on this bad boy and not just mild hybrid. There’s plenty of room for batteries and you can put two auxiliary motors on each axle and get by with even smaller gasoline engine. No need for diesel anymore as electric motors beat diesel in torque ability easy.

    Recently bought a built to serve 22 with etourgue. My question is if I turn off the start/ stop feature do I lose the other benefits of the etourque? Example the electric braking and tourque assist after a stop?

    My problem with start and stop is you get all that fluid lubricating then the darn thing shuts off you sit at a light for 2 minnutes all that fluid goes back to the bottom of the engine ,trans then starts up all back up to normal mode .

    I have a 2011 dodge ram with 5.7 hemi. It has enough chit that can go wrong electronically already. And while I am happy with my ram, all I see in this is a complete system with even more chit that can go wrong and cost the buyer BIG bucks to fix. Naww there comes a tiime when adding more isn't best and sorry to say, this is where the ram is at with this new up and comming.

    My longhorn with Etorque NEVER goes into 4cyl mode unless I’m coasting! My ‘14 Laramie stayed in 4cyl mode a lot more.

    A test drive is free. I`ll take one with out the eTorque hybrid. The more electronics the more that can go wrong..Ahh for the good old days with a carburetor.

    That front it looks like Ram went super soft, looks extremely like a off-brand Toyota Tundra... FCA seems to add all these bells and whistles to their cars, to hide the fact their reliability is two steps away from a pile of dog sh*t...

    Stop start hey lets design a system to atleast double the number of times someone starts and stops their engine wearing and tear increases so we can make more money in repairs and people buy cars more often cause their engines don't last as lone yeah that's it .

  • @JWbabyshark
    @JWbabyshark 5 лет назад

    Sounds like to much that can go wrong. Also $$$ to fix. What happened to keeping it simple. Over Engineering these vehicles and making them to easy for something to go wrong. Since their so much unnecessary stuff being built into them.
