Killer tones! Another benefit of the mini 800 - no buying an old one and having to deal with repairs, or previous mods, etc. The ability to get killer 800 tones at home has been a dream for most 80's kids!
I think that the last (if not ONE of the last) thing(s) that I would part with is my 800. It's lasted me over 35 years and I hope to have it forever !!
I know this an older video but I just ordered one tonight because of your demo. Thank you. Your channel has become my go to for gear info because our tastes are very similar. Thanks again 🤘🏻
This is so well done Euge, a great comparison of the two in terms of the similarities and subtle differences. All perfectly highlighted by the fantastic playing.
I just bought the SC20H 800 and the SV20H plexi both Lol and like you I love the Vintage 30’s for everything I play I’ve been messing around with a Boss ME-80 through the front of the Plexi and using the Wah side as my volume all I can say is WOW the punch I was looking for if you haven’t already tried it with this simple All in one effects give it a drive and I had nothing In the effects loop but it was turned OFF fricking slays Ratt, Quiet Riot , Ozzy / Randy Rhoads days my favorite guitar player and EVH all day long bro 🤘🤘
After being a multi-channel amp player for decades, this (and Euge’s other videos) made me switch to a one channel amp, and non other than the Marshall SC20H. Today I get my core tone from this little beast with a little kick from a Boss SD-1. Plain and simple. Thank you Euge for guiding me to the right path. =)
Why did I look this blog?!?! After watching this went to local guitar shop, tried out and directly bought….. for the big happiness of my wife…. But now with Maxon st9+pro(powered with 18 volt), I have back the sound of Death Metal from early 90s!!! My fireball 25 and mini recto crying somewhere in the corner!
@@EugeValovirta230V Exactly!!! Less compression( not like by all new high gain amps) but the sound comes directly in the face and let the balls bounce!!! Thank you Euge for this great review!
Appreciate the vid brother. Love your playing too . I'm a big Zakk fan myself . That little amp sounds amazing . Them Emg pups seem to really like this amp too.
It just sounds louder, not so much better imo. Euge was kinda adjusting the output volume on the fly as he was switching between the amps, so they weren't exactly identical in output level. The extra loudness of the 100w then made it appear as if it sounds bigger.
Absolutely blown away by that first song Egue!.....man you can play brother, sounds awesome!....love to hear you demo a deziel or an older dual rec, the non multi watt one. amps one day man!.... I agree the studio ones are nice but nothing beats the full sound of a 100 watt head.

Just ordered one from fair deal music in uk, such a badass looking and sounding amp, your playing just getting me more excited to get it, savage tones bro!
Yes!!! Someone to do justice to this little beast!!! I'm a Mesa guy, but I really want one of these so bad! I been leaning towards the Jubilee 2525 though
Impressive....the little 800 has the same tone of the big one.....I can’t wait for the Mini Jubilee comparison.....I run my amps thru a Fryette PS-100 anyway,so I can basically turn all my amps into 100 watters...
It's a cool little amp. I'm surprised it's running EL34's honestly with all the 20 watt amp trending going on with amp makers since most musicians have home studios and venues are looking for less stage volume these days and more PA volume. I thought it was running EL84's. But that would change the tone. I guess they realized to get it truer to 800 tone it needed to run 34's. I'd love to hear how one could be shaped with different tubes. Tons of amp makers load in Sovtek tubes from the factory and those tubes sound so harsh to me. I wonder how the Studio Classic would sound with a basic JJ tube swap. Nice video Euge as always.
Those 20 watters are awesome. In all the demos I have heard the “Vintage” (or whatever it’s called - the plexi style one) really sounds amazing. The 800 is good but as you point out it just has a bit “less” than the big brothers.

They’re like all older Marshalls; I’ve played with some really ballsy 900s but also with some really weak sounding ones. The SL-X is the best 900 IMO. It’s basically 800 2203 but with 4 preamp tubes so it has more gain. The other 900s has a clipping circuit (like Jubilee) which is ok but for that purpose I like SD-1 more (which is a clipping circuit too like basically all overdrives). So my advice is: try it out and if it sounds good it’s good 👌😎. If it’s SL-X I’d probably go for it ’cos they’re the best 900s and quite hard to find.
