Cool! Two classics 👌. The JCM2000 DSL is a really good amp and that’s actually the amp ( I was referring on the video) I’ve played several hundred shows with. Not these new DSLs which are ok. Glad to hear! Thanks!

The demo song was awesome! I have a DSL40C amongst my collection and love it. I've played the DSL20HR and I thought it seemed thin compared to my DSL40C. I could see it being used for a more modern sound. Still a great little amp though, just a different animal than the Studio series. As far as the DSL100, Gary Holt used them in SLAYER. I saw them 3 times with Gary, the last time on their farewell tour and the live sound of the DSL100 was brutal. Great video and playing as always 🤘🤘👍👍
I have my DSL20HR on order well it’s on backorder but I can’t wait to get it. I have a 6505mh and it packs a punch and I really like it but can’t go wrong with that Marshall tone. And I love that the dsl20hr has full size tubes! Great vid man! 🤘
I can’t really pick one over the other. The 6505 is more on the 5150 side of things high gain. I have been getting more into Marshall’s since I’ve been watching Euge’s channel I really like the dsl20hr it’s a great amp for the price. I just picked up a Marshall SC20 stealth and man it sounds great with a boss sd1 in front I really really like it. I now know why Euge likes jcm800 so much. 💪I posted a vid of my gear check it out if ya want 😎
You keep putting out constantly great reviews! This sounds like a pretty decent low-wattage amp at a great price. I'm not thrilled with the emulated tone at 14:40 though and judging from your reaction, you aren't either. But at less than half the cost of a Studio...wow! Cheers Euge!
Very interesting thanks for the video Euge 🤘🔥🤘 gonna pick one of these up… always wanted a Marshall tube amp 👍 got the EVH stealth and Badlander… just missing some Marshall in my life. Thanks for the informative video.. cheers 🍻
@EugeValovirta230V Hi! Terve ja kiitos! I really liked your review of this amp. It helped me to choose between different amplifier options available. Keep up the good work you're doing! I ordered a Marshall DSL20H and a Marshall 4 x 12 cabinet. I have only played the guitar with VST effects such as Amplitube. This will be my first transition to a tube amp. Thank you!
I have the DSL20hr and like it a lot. Which of the Marshall 20w studio series amps would be the best pick if you like the sound of the DSL20 but just want to upgrade to something better? JCM800? Silver Jube?
I was really disappointed in the classic gain channel. I bought the amp for that plexi/800 sound that I'd never had before. The amp convinced me that I didn't like those amps for a while. Now I know better.
@@EugeValovirta230V I have the 40watt cr and its basically the same as here. You can crank the gain on the green and red and nothing happens. Its just a very pushed clean really. Even at stage volumes.
You stated you thought the DSL100HR you reviewed sounded cheap and not like the UK-made 100 watt amps, but really liked the DSL20HR. Did you find them to sound different? What is your opinion on the DSL20HR today?
Very good video once again. I'm having a DSL20H and the DSL1HR and they are both fine. I prefer the DSL20 probably as it has a bit body and also the DSL1 lacks the resonance and presence the DSL20 has. However, it's true the voicing is slightly different to the first JCM2000s. The DSLs are fine and very similar but have a bit of a different tone and feel than the JCM2000s. However, both are fine though and everyone has a different taste, of course. I like pretty much all Marshalls and have worked with a lot of different ones over the years. Have a nice week, buddy.
Thanks! Yeah the UK made JCM2000 DSL is quite a bit better than these new ones. But a Marshall is always a Marshall and it’s really hard to sound bad with one. At least in my experience 😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V between the dsl40 and the sc20c what do you prefer ? Also where can i find the first song you played on here? I love your writing skills
Just curious, if I love the John Sykes and general 80's metal sound, what would you characterize as the primary difference between the Super Overdrive and Tube Screamer? Especially used in the context of 80's rock and thrash metal
SD-1 is tighter, more aggressive & open with a bit less mid hump to my ears. TS is symmetrical clipping and SD-1 asymmetrical which makes it also a bit different 😎.
Bud !! Im glad i saw this vid from you !! I have a dsl 20 but does the volume act the same as a master volume???????? The jcm 800 20w has a master volume....the dsL's sweet spot is pretty low on the volume i find Steve from canada🤘⚡️🤘⚡️🤘
Killer playing. Your 800 sounds the best but seems like the DSL is good on a budget. Then again, maybe buying a used 20 watt 800 would be the way to go. I might look into it. I also like your videos on the 50 watt 5150’s. my favourite was the el34’s. it sounded kinda like a modded 800 which is the best tone since I grew up in the 80’s.
@@EugeValovirta230V unluckily we don't have many options in my country, I can only find Marshall cabs with Celestion G12 Vintage or Celestion Seventy-80. your thoughts ?
I believe the G12 Vintage is the og V30 that Celestion made for Marshall. After it fot really popular they started to sell them as ”standalone”. But just try them both and choose the one you like the most. Simple as that 😎.

As always your demo' and playing is fantastic. Hey, brother is this 20 watts loud enough to play clubs or rehearse with the band? I'm the only guitar player not competing with another guitar player for volume. Thanks bro
@@EugeValovirta230V I like the DSL 20 I want to get away from taking so much to gig with that has a lot of drive you don't even need a tube screamer with head. So the 20 watt is plenty loud for clubs on stage? Anything bigger and you can have guitars in the monitors. I'm getting terrified of everyone going to in-ear monitors I love the sound of feeling your pant legs moving from the bass guitar. When I first started playing soundmen hated us. You guys play too loud. I used to tell them you think Priest played quietly and then when they got to the arena's said oh boy we can turn up now. @@EugeValovirta230V That's terrible me to Valentines night Feb 14th. My singer said to me before we went on that will most likely be the last show for a while. It was. We went to our rehearsal room and wrote a new record over the rest of 2020. Started recording in March of 21, tracked everything and on July 15 our singer passed away after a short illness. I lived really setting myself to go on the road and play music as long as we could and this Covid happens. I really hope we get back to touring once again but I won't make any plans for it we just write and record. We can play locally though. Thanks for keeping us all smiling and watching your videos!
Oh man really sorry to hear that. I’ve played between 60-150 shows / year for the last 20 years so it’s been quite different for the last two years but what else can we do than just trying to make the best out of the current situation. I started this RUclips thing, finished my Bachelor of Arts degree (finally - it was on hold for almost 10 years), updated my studio and started to do more recording, mixing & mastering works and I’ve upped my skills more in the last 2 years than in the 20+ years I’ve been a pro in this business etc. And released a few albums and there’s more to come. I’m on vacation now but as soon as I’m back in studio we’ll start to record the next Cyhra album and more of my solo stuff etc. ”Must not lie down in the fire”. 😎

Don’t quite know what you mean but in general with a master volume you determine how much / loud the signal from the preamp is hitting the power tubes (master section of the amp) = volume & power tube distortion. With preamp volume / gain you determine how much / loud the signal into the amp is hitting the preamp tubes = how much preamp tubes distort = gain 😎👌.
@@EugeValovirta230V many thanks bud your response is valuable cause you know amps...on the DSL 20H each channel has a vol and gain but the DSL 100 has the same but also 2 masters ..just wondering whats the diff without the masters 💪
Sounds the like the preamp tubes are done on your amp so I’d try changing new ones. I have JJ ECC83S / 12AX7s pretty much on all of my amps. This wasn’t mine but a brand new one I borrowed from a local music store so can’t remember what this one had 😎. But I don’t have as much gain in general and people are always quite surprised about that when they try my rig / amps. I just play quite hard so that makes it sound like there’s more gain than there actually is. Gotta punish the guitar man 😎💪.
@@EugeValovirta230V I love the JCM too, but i think i prefer the Silver Jub, because has more gain and i think its more versatile having a footswitchable clean channell. Do you agree the Silver Jub is more suitable for thrash metal? Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Silver Jube is great too. It’s based on the JCM800 2203 with a bit more precise tone stack / EQ section, more gain and a footswitchable clean channel. I don’t judge amps like ”this is good for trash, this is good for this etc.”. A good amp is a good amp and the rest (=most) is up to the player = Play power chords with a heavy hand, play bluesier stuff etc. and the amp will amplify that.
No since you’re obviously not in my studio with me in person 😁. I’m recording the guitars to Cubase (I use the monitors to hear what I’m recording - like what & how you do in a recording studio) and then I edit the camera footage (video and my voice) & audio recorded to Cubase (guitars, drums etc. ) together in Final Cut 👌. Like this: ruclips.net/video/_2N-GEjzJVk/видео.html
Hi Sim, Both would get the job done so depends what kind of job I’d need them to do. For a Marshall tone I’d choose Marshall and for a Peavey tone I’d choose Peavey 😎.
Where does the silver jubilee fit in with all these JCM 800 sounds? You have the Wylde & Sykes tone locked down with the pushed 800 but didn’t RRoades use silver jubilees? Thx
It’s based on a JCM800 but has two channels and IMO isn’t as aggressive as 800s. Randy used Plexis. He died in 1982 and Silver Jubilee was released in 1987.
@@EugeValovirta230V Thank you for that time line correction! Don't know where I got the IDEA Randy was using silver Jubilee series? Are any 2 channel JCM 800 worth the $$$ Or just go with TS or DS series to get a little more versatility?
You’re welcome 😎. The two channel 800 has a clipping diode (for more gain) like a Silver Jube but with Jube you can switch it on or off and I prefer it off since it compress the sound a bit too much IMO. I owned the two channel 800 back in the day but I like the original one channel 2203 a lot more.
I m stil looking for a good option for home recording and this one is really beatiful but i must say that I d rather 2203 , i thinkmi ll keep my money for future, it was great video again!! and you mentioned DSL 100 that you played 100 times how was it if you compare eith 2203 studio classic?
I haven’t played the studio classic live but only on the videos I did but a 100w tube amp is 100w tube amp. Everything is just bigger 💪😎. And I actually meant the old UK made JCM2000 DSLs which are great but these new ones...well let’s just say that they don’t make them anymore like they used to 😎. 2203 is the original 100w amp, 2204 is a 50 watt and the Studio Series Classic is the 20 watt of the 800 series just to clarify 😉👌.
@@EugeValovirta230V Thanks for the comments by the way do you have a recommandation of if we compare as your taste which one would be win 2203 studio classic 20w or DSL 100? Thanks
2203 is the 100 watt JCM800 and Studio Classic is the 20 watt JCM800 so obviously more is more 😎. DSL is a budget amp and ok for it’s price but can’t really compare it to UK made amps.
It depends what you want / need. 800 is more classic sound with not much distortion and DSL is more modern sounding with lots of distortion. I can’t say which one is better but personally I prefer 800s 😎.

All 4 options I have (because the g3 has a blue and red switch) it gets a different point of view of amazing tone through the power section. Every option sounds like Mjölnir forging Stormbreaker on an anvil of the finest steel known to man.
Cool man! 💪👌
WOW! Awesome Brother! Now remind me who James Hatfield and Kirk Hammett are!
Thanks! Who? 😎
Hatfield 😂
It's great to hear a real musician (as opposed to the purists online) giving an honest rundown on this. I'm getting the dsl20 watt combo and I've been trying to do my homework.
Great upload! Your videos are very informative and also wildly entertaining in a subdued way. Cheers!
Thanks man! 🙏☺️
I have a JCM2000 DSL100. I love it! I run my ADA MP1 preamp into the FXloop and it sounds killer! When the pre amp is plugged in, the Tone shift and bass boost still work. Combine those with the pre amp and you can create tons of cool tones.😄
Great playing man! I enjoy your channel.
Cool!
Two classics 👌. The JCM2000 DSL is a really good amp and that’s actually the amp ( I was referring on the video) I’ve played several hundred shows with. Not these new DSLs which are ok.
Glad to hear! Thanks!
That's one great idea, but do you mix the 2 preamps together into the same power section, switch between them or what?
@@larslevinberget9558 pre amp into Marshall fx loop. Guitar plugged into front of mp1 pre amp. That's all. The tone shift, deep button and presence on the Marshall still work if you want to try them with the pre amp
Thank you, Euge. Very informative.
You’re welcome. Glad to hear thanks!
Thanks man!
Yeah you really can’t go wrong with a Marshall 💪.
At 17:34, you sounded almost exactly like Johan Segeborn. Great video as usual
😎👌. Thanks!
I have my DSL20HR on order well it’s on backorder but I can’t wait to get it. I have a 6505mh and it packs a punch and I really like it but can’t go wrong with that Marshall tone. And I love that the dsl20hr has full size tubes! Great vid man! 🤘
Cool! Thanks man!
Which one sounds better for you?
I have only 100 watt amps (well 5150 is 120w) so can’t tell but I think one can’t go wrong with either 😎.
Thanks Mark!
👍😎.
Very interesting thanks for the video Euge 🤘🔥🤘 gonna pick one of these up… always wanted a Marshall tube amp 👍 got the EVH stealth and Badlander… just missing some Marshall in my life. Thanks for the informative video.. cheers 🍻
Glad to hear! Thanks!
Sounds freaking amazing! I might have to look into the 20W :)
Yeah! 💪
Love your videos still have my 1986 jcm 800 that i bought brand new, and my dsl 50 !
Thanks Tony! Cool! 💪
Thank you!
Cool, thanks! Great to hear!
really like your videos thanks a lot

Glad you like them! Thanks!
I am a Chinese and i am drunk. And though you already know my English is awful, it is so fun to see this guy is as drunk as i am.
I’ve been sober for years so nope.
I have the DSL20hr and like it a lot. Which of the Marshall 20w studio series amps would be the best pick if you like the sound of the DSL20 but just want to upgrade to something better? JCM800? Silver Jube?
JCM800 2203 is my all time favourite amp so that.
Your playing is dope!
Thanks! 🙏💪😎
It's a DSL20HR. There is no DSL20H, although there was a DSL15H. Liked and subscribed.
🙏🤟
Love it !! I have this one myself for the price its a steal.
Another fantastic video and playing.
Yeah it’s a really good budget amp 👌.
Glad to hear! Thanks!
Never heard of decimation pedal but what an awesome tool and tone I own the 2000 DSL and I can’t get that tone , also own a LTD VIPER 😊
Hi Euge, could you compare DSL20H with JCM800 20W Studio? What sounds better? More juicy?
Hi man,
I’ve returned the amps to MusiX already so unfortunately can’t do that but my all time fav amp is JCM800 so 😉
great video mate, I agree they are good value but they don't clean up like the older amps...same with the cheap fender amps vs a real one
Do you think change a DSL1 to a DSL 20 will bring much more?
how it compares to the other amps (plexi, jcm800 and jubilee)? Do you think the dsl20h is a inferior amp compared to the other ones?
it cleans up ok with my gig 500T 496r set up
👌
I was really disappointed in the classic gain channel. I bought the amp for that plexi/800 sound that I'd never had before. The amp convinced me that I didn't like those amps for a while. Now I know better.
Yeah I was quite disappointed to the classic channel ’cos it wasn’t even close to Plexi or 800.
Super video .Marshall dsl 20h -Jack Hammer JH 1 -super sounds Czech republic.
Thanks!
Another helpful vid bro, especially when we can’t get into a store to try one, I’ll stick with the Sc20h
Thanks! Excellent choise sir 😎👌.
@@EugeValovirta230V Absolutely agree, mate.
🙏
Playing Sounds amazing .
Thanks!
Just calling it like I see it every amp you play through sounds good.
🤟
nice playing, that amp is its own thing, but still sounds marshall. nice little amp
Great video, thanks Euge!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Does the dsl40cr make these same sounds? I love these tones!
Depends on the player I guess 😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V between the dsl40 and the sc20c what do you prefer ?
Also where can i find the first song you played on here? I love your writing skills
yes both interesting and informative ,kool playing as well
Thanks Stacy! Glad to hear!
Okay, Marshall just got a customer thanks to you :)
😎👌
Just curious, if I love the John Sykes and general 80's metal sound, what would you characterize as the primary difference between the Super Overdrive and Tube Screamer? Especially used in the context of 80's rock and thrash metal
SD-1 is tighter, more aggressive & open with a bit less mid hump to my ears.
TS is symmetrical clipping and SD-1 asymmetrical which makes it also a bit different 😎.
Bud !! Im glad i saw this vid from you !! I have a dsl 20 but does the volume act the same as a master volume????????
The jcm 800 20w has a master volume....the dsL's sweet spot is pretty low on the volume i find
Steve from canada🤘⚡️🤘⚡️🤘
Both amps have master - and preamp volumes 😎. On 800 the preamp volume is labeled as ’preamp’ and on DSL it’s labeled ’gain’.
Maybe in the future you can test the DSL100HR head to see if it's worth buying
If I get my hands on one then for sure 👌.
Great videos. Any chance you will compare the DSL20 to the Studio 20 heads? I'd like to know your thoughts.
I don’t have those amps anymore since I returned those to MusiX but I say on the video my thoughts compared to Studio Series and the DSL 😉.
Hello, do you thiunk the DSL20H can be a cheap alternative to JCM800/900? I've always looking for a better alternative to my Joyo JackmanII amp.
Yes it could but if you can invest a bit more I’d go with the 20w JCM800 but this’ll give you the Marshall sound. Just a bit more modern than 800/900.
Would the 20dsl combo going through 4x12 be the same sound wise as 40c dsl also going through 4x12?
Different amp so probably not exactly the same but I’d say pretty close anyway👌😎.
any recommended 2x12 Marshall cab for this DSL20 head ?
I’d go with one with V30s or Greenbeacks.
@@EugeValovirta230V well, the only one store having Marshall ranges in my country has been going online sales (so nothing to try at there physical stores any more), that's why I need deep diving YTB vids for ideas and thoughts :D
Damn😎. I’d go with the G12 👌
Thanks for the video. Interesting and informative as usual.

It's all about the four digits on the left or right hand but a good amp makes a hell of a difference nothing sounds like Marshall with a Les Paul
💪
What speakers in the cab?
Awesome chops Euge! I stil like the 800s younger brother. 💥👍🤘
Thanks! Me too 😎.
As always your demo' and playing is fantastic. Hey, brother is this 20 watts loud enough to play clubs or rehearse with the band? I'm the only guitar player not competing with another guitar player for volume. Thanks bro
Thanks!
If the drummer hits oud enough ’cos these 20 watters are really loud 😎💪.
Especially the 800 & Plexi.
I'm thinking about getting two of them and going back to the one wet cab, one dry. Thanks, brother have a great weekend. Are bands gigging out in Europe yet or still shut down from the Covid?
Everything’s shut down. I played my last show in February 2020 in London.
Hi Euge.....have you ever tried a TSL60? Lots of mixed reviews online but the majority are negative. I couldn't find that one in your video list so I thought I would ask. I have a chance to buy one but I cannot find a good solid review like the ones you do. Thanks

Euge i have this amp. are these volumes actual masters??? I haven't found answers anywhere !!
Thx
Probably both channels have their own master volume.

Signal chain: 06:16 👌
@@EugeValovirta230V apologies. Thank you
My dsl is not a good one like this. My full dimed ultra gain sounds more like you’re green channel. I have no where near the gain you have here.
No worries man! 😎👌
Awesome. How does it compare with the 20w Silver Jubilee?
Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Thanks! This is like DSL and Silver Jube is like Silver Jube. I don’t know how to better describe them 🤷😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V lol. If you had to choose just one... What would you choose?
🍺🤘🇵🇹
JCM800 🤟😎
So the sound we are hearing is coming out of the studio monitors?
No since you’re obviously not in my studio with me in person 😁.
I’m recording the guitars to Cubase (I use the monitors to hear what I’m recording - like what & how you do in a recording studio) and then I edit the camera footage (video and my voice) & audio recorded to Cubase (guitars, drums etc. ) together in Final Cut 👌. Hello Euge,
For your opinion:
You take a Marshall Dsl20h or
Peavey 6505 mh??
Kiitos vastauksestanne
Hi Sim,
Both would get the job done so depends what kind of job I’d need them to do. For a Marshall tone I’d choose Marshall and for a Peavey tone I’d choose Peavey 😎.
Is 20 watts gigable? How loud is it?
Really loud. I’d get an attenuator for home & smaller clubs to be able to push the power tubes like they’re meant to be pushed 😎👌.

I owned the two channel 800 back in the day but I like the original one channel 2203 a lot more.
.how is the dsl 20 for bedroom volume...is it good for playing at home in low volume???'
The power can be reduced to 10 watt if I remember correct. It’s still pretty loud but usable I think.

2203 is the 100 watt JCM800 and Studio Classic is the 20 watt JCM800 so obviously more is more 😎.
DSL is a budget amp and ok for it’s price but can’t really compare it to UK made amps.
@@EugeValovirta230V then we can say that studio classic 2203 20w marshall (uk) better than DSL 100 (TW) ?
It depends what you want / need. 800 is more classic sound with not much distortion and DSL is more modern sounding with lots of distortion. I can’t say which one is better but personally I prefer 800s 😎.
