      They r excellent for.metal and 80s rock including cleans my only complaint is there no option for reverb pedalwise just the dial on amp but i feiggin love it . The tone shift works well for.metallica etc ryrhyn i like it tbh . My 20watt is loud enough for pubs and non mic3d drummer easy but if u r in big clubs with double kicks miced on drums go for the dsl100hr

      For some reason Marshall made small changes to mainly the main circuit board on those amps that's some sound better than others, but there's no consistency so you cant pick them by year. The changes mainly cut high frequencies which helped cut the fizz, R13 stock is 100K but some came with 220K, also C18 can be increased to cut more highs, as well as other minor changes.

    This is my current amp. It’s weird though that I play mine through a 2X12 cab loaded with a couple cream backs and I can roll back the volume and still have a decent sound. I don’t run a noise gate though. I also use. Kraken pre-amp pedal from Victory amps and run that with the 4 cable method so in the end I have the Marshalls clean and dirty channels and when I engage the Kraken I have those 2 channels, I also hit both with the boss super overdrive waza model. I was looking at a Mesa again but I can’t get away from Marshall. They are the best plug and play amps ever!!

    Great presentation and charismatic communication.
    You are totally right about this amp.It does have its place.It is Marshall on a budget.A weird uncooked sound , that needs fleshing out.But the classic sounds can be done via pedals.I don't play as heavy so I'm used to thinking about shaping the sound with this amp.
    So people should save and buy a proper Marshall.Because great amps 'disappear' as you play.You don't have to think about them when they are great.

      I have this amp and yes the classic channel sounds great with a good overdrive pedal. The other channel has more than enough gain by itself. Some people say it's too fizzy sounding but I don't have that problem. I just don't turn the presence or gain past half way and there is no issue. It's a great amp for the money.

    The demo song was awesome! I have a DSL40C amongst my collection and love it. I've played the DSL20HR and I thought it seemed thin compared to my DSL40C. I could see it being used for a more modern sound. Still a great little amp though, just a different animal than the Studio series. As far as the DSL100, Gary Holt used them in SLAYER. I saw them 3 times with Gary, the last time on their farewell tour and the live sound of the DSL100 was brutal.

    Amazing demo! The intro jam reminds me of Zakk and Sykes. My settings for ultra channel to get a hard rock tone like VH1 are: Treble: 6 Middle: 10 Bass: 0.5-1 Presence: 10 Resonance: 0. Resonance pot is highly unusable in my case, couldn't get a nice sound, always flubs it out the low end. I'm using Celestion G12H anniversary

    Very good video once again. I'm having a DSL20H and the DSL1HR and they are both fine. I prefer the DSL20 probably as it has a bit body and also the DSL1 lacks the resonance and presence the DSL20 has. However, it's true the voicing is slightly different to the first JCM2000s. The DSLs are fine and very similar but have a bit of a different tone and feel than the JCM2000s. However, both are fine though and everyone has a different taste, of course. I like pretty much all Marshalls and have worked with a lot of different ones over the years. Have a nice week, buddy.

    the emulated out is bad on 90% of the amps .... they should instead just have a line out without a cab emulation so you can at least apply your own IR. The way they are doing it just ruins the line out alltogether and you still have to use a loadbox in the end to get a clean line out to your audio interface.

    Question about the Emulated Out: So I'm thinking about get a DSL5CR (I know this is a DSL20CR, but I believe they use the same technology for their emulated output). From the sound I hear in your video, is it that the treble is low, or does the Emulated Out sound a bit muffled? Is the sound you're getting at 15:53 (Ultra gain channel #4 section) coming from the Emulated Output? Great playing by the way!

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it’s really muffled like, in my experience, usually on all amps which have this feature.
      I don’t know why eveyone puts this really dark & muffled sounding IR in there and why they don’t use something that actually sounds good right out of the box? But like I said it could be eq’d in the post to be usable but I’d actually prefer just a direct out and then you could use an IR that you like and sounds good right out of the box like the Jens Bogren IRs I use 😎👌.
      It’s the Suhr Reactive Load with the Bogren IR. I believe I mention that in the video? 😊

    How does a JVM 410h compare to a JCM 800 or JMP MkII 2203? Have you tried one? Somebody has listed one cheap here in NZ and it has been recently serviced by a tech I know and trust. Hard to pass over, even though I do not need an amp and I am supposed to be saving for another guitar. I am thinking the recording feature would be good to use as a valve preamp with IRs, because I am wary of cranking my Plexi replica with a load box due to having killed a few amps in the past.
    Edit. I just found you have a video on it. I'll watch it now. Cheers.
