One of the reasons I am slowly moving from Cubase to Nuendo is the ability to create markers from selection, which you can't do in Cubase. Brilliant feature.
Two things regarding markes. I tried using them again and again until I came up with a kind of similar approach. Instead of using marker-tracks, I create audiotracks and put in events. One for Form, one for parts, one for ideas. I then use the markers to jump around in my timeline. Let's say I want to edit a drumfill from another take into my mastertake. I cmd + 4 my current location, go to the fill and cmd + 5 that. Now I can quickly jump back and forth between those two point. This has worked for me for years. When I produce, I want to move fast, and I find Cubase's approach a bit convoluted at times. Still loyal for 17 years now. :) cheers, and thanks for your videos. they help.
Great video, thanks, with your ideas I did a macro that copy the global copy, then go to the end of the selection and then time paste it, then with just one command or a button do all the trick!
Brilliant workflow and tips!!! Brian, do you still use Lemur? Sadly its not on the market, so i started using Metagrid Pro ,which is the super alternative one to Lemur. Yes, more tutorials for PLE would be nice, from dummy to advance level ! always confused what is what on PLE editor window✌
Great video, def will use some of these tips. On an offtopic side note: what hair products do you use? Your hair is glorious and im growing mine out but i suck at styling... Anyways, keep the vids coming 👍
Enjoyed…felt yu were a Rocky n bullwinkle fan…..my fave addition to cubase 12 would be the implementation of Vu meters as an option in meter bridge….the snap point section high value….setting up the arranger track very early means you don’t have to work in linear mode and can work in sections…..aka session view in ableton….just that cubase does it better.
Some really good advice - but the first one you really don't need to set up (unless I misunderstood). If you use the Space Bar - the play head restarts from current position. But if you use the keypad - Tap zero once to stop the project, then enter to continue... Or double tap Zero to bring you back to the original start point then Enter to start playing. It's kinda already set up. So, day to day, when I'm recording/overdubbing, I use the keypad. But when I'm editing, I tend to use the Space Bar and B & N to shove between edits. It's why laptops without keypads are a pain!
It's one of the features I really miss when I end up having to edit in PT. So much fiddling to change the play head behaviour ;) - though I'm a passing PT user (only when I have to...)
@@TheButtonMan In Pro Tools, press N to make the playhead keep going from where you stopped. It will stay that way until you press N again. It's one of the most frustrating shortcuts if you DON'T want that behavior, because when you fat finger the spacebar, it's so easy to hit the N key...
@@ethanhenleymusic6341 I've always struggled a bit with the PT transport system - but to be fair, I only use PT on specific projects where it's required - so I'm by no means an expert there :). Mind you, working with a PT colleague in Nuendo atm, and he's not having a world of laughs either XD Mashing keys is always fun!
Thanks Brian! This was an awesome video! I've definitely been under-utilising the markers! I've been using for about 15 years now and I've tried other DAWs, but none of them could do what Cubase can.
Ok, WOW..I knew that with the range tool you can add/delete time, but I was using the range tool. So that I combination with the marker tool, I see that it's similar to the arranger track in Studio one (rather than how the arranger track works in Cubase) So I can create macros and key commands to replicate that work flow! YES YES YES!!!
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. : ) PLEASE can you make a PLE tutorial in relation to visibilty, which takes account of the fact that most of us will have split screen enabled and will always want the upper tracks showing regardless of what bottom tracks are showing. This would be great. Kind regards, Darren (Wales, UK)

9:47 this works very badly if you write songs with synchopations that accents before the first bar, because you gotta go zoom in and be super careful about where you global cut/copy, and it gets even worse if your song switches between sychopations and not having them
Why are you using Cubase in 2024? 😆 I don't mind waiting a few months for Reaper to ripoff new features from Cubase. It's more important to me that it just works without crashing.
@BrianRivlin Ah that's fair, just seems to be the go to for noobs who want to be the next Zimmer, despite much cheaper and more stable options. If you're going to be spending that kind of money, best to be at a stage where you're going to get some professional value out of it, rather than dropping the hobby and regretting the purchase.
Lol the key command window open instantly on pc... Who tf would use cubase on mac anyway it's a subpar version.... Just a port.... Use logic if you're on mac 🤦♂️

My fav feature is command + S ^^
My fav is ALT+F4 so I can install Reaper 😁
Thank you.
Project logical editor deep dive!
Mixer zones! FANTASTIC thing to learn today.
great tips, thank you!

really cool! that cycle markers are so handy!
im a cubase user and a ableton user. both have pro,s and cons. using cubase for 14 years now. ableton for 1. love these videos
Brilliant brilliant brilliant...you answered most of the queries I had in one video!! Fantastic, thank you!

great Video Brian, what is keyboard master, or thats what I thought you said to open close the various mixers in Cubase12,
Great tutorial and tips! Thank you!
Silly question, what are you doing to move the curser to the next or previous bar?
Amazing stuff ido. Are you willing to assist with a Lemur/osc setup with an ipad and windows cubase 10.5 macros?

Oh and with the arranger track in Cubase you can flatten the aragment to a new project automatically

🤔 I like to see everything. But the idea of not seeing everything is interesting. Because then you don't get distracted.

Been using it for 23 years now. It’s hard to switch after all that time.
Plus it does everything I need it to do for my work (when it doesn’t crash 😂)

you dont understand it
