Dom i know we dont know each other in person BUT i want to THANK YOU SO MUCH for everthing you do! Im an SAE Alumni myself and i still learn stuff every day and this channel is such a blessing!
It's a blessing!!!! For sure!!!!!!! I've learned so much here 🤯🤯🤯
Normally, because of my ADD I can't pay attention to other RUclipsrs because they make their videos too boring, but his videos are brilliant!!!
Also I advise everyone who makes music, to get a bass shaker and mount it to your seat! It's sooo helpful to have something that not only makes you hear the bass but also literally makes you feel it!
Well, I guess I am an advanced Cubase user ;) knew most of these except the first one (I never draw chords anyway).
Extra tip for the Step Designer:
Hit “randomize”, to generate a random sequence. Then insert the MIDI Modifiers plugin after the Step Designer and use “Scale Transpose” to force the random sequence to your favorite scale and key, and Boom!, your random sequence now plays in keys instead of some 12 tone music.
I'm going to give you a tip that I think few people know. If it helps, give it a like! In the sending channel when we are in the channel strip sometimes we add an FX and we want to modify that FX so the normal thing is that we look for the effect channel and open the plugin and modify it. but you can save this step by pressing ALT+double click on the submission and the plugin will open!
Every Dom Cubase video is a BOOM moment for me! 😂
Wonderful stuff - thank you 🎉
You asked if there were any "Boom" moments ... I was blown away with most of these features you showed ... I didn't know about them. Thank you for making this video!
Great tips! I did not know most.
TIP: to quickly copy a plugin to another track, in the mix window, hold ALT & click the plugin & drag & drop to the insert of a desired track = BOOM!
Thx Dom
I'm wondering if there's a way to copy the plugin settings to multiple instances in different channels - if there's a way of using the Q-link maybe...?
Thank you so much for making me aware of the Re-Record function. You have added 6 years to my life! And showing me how to copy and paste plugin settings has added another 2 years to my life!
Hahaha, that's a cool way of saying he saved you time haha! I'm going to use that, thanks haha!
🎵 Dom’s the best…all around…no one’s ever gonna keep him down! 🎵
Great tips Dom. I use most of the tips so it's great to see. I love also using the 'P' key when a clip or a group of clips are selected to set left and right locator around the clips. Makes recording or looping easier and faster.
Changing the color of your t shirt is also a boom moment for me :3
Another great thing I discovered a few years ago related to the last tip you gave -
You can hold the 'Alt' key while dragging a plugin from one channel to another, and it will copy it to the new channel with the exact same settings :)
Today I used some of your wisdom and I can boldly say..... You are an amazing teacher.
Great and informative as always! My own favourite tip is something I do when programming MIDI drums. First, I program all the drum parts to a grid - preferably 16ths. Then I use the MIDI Logical Editor to either 'Rockify' or 'Jazzify' (for lack of better phrases) the drums. Assuming about 120 BPM and starting with the kick, I randomize the kick from about -4 to +4 ticks. I do this to all the drums. Then, for 'Rockifying', I move all snare hits 4 ticks forward, so they fall a little bit later than the beat. Similarly, I move the hi-hat 6 ticks forward, and finally I move other cymbals and toms 8 ticks forward. This is an easy way to create the coveted 'pocket' which functions so well in rock and funk music. When 'Jazzifying', Instead I move the snare 4 ticks backwards making it fall a bit before the beat, hi-hat 6 ticks ahead and cymbals and toms 8 ticks ahead. As mentioned, this is easily done with the Midi Logical editor. This small trick can make even the stiffest, most boring beat danceable. Try it!
Awesome tip, thanks! Will sure check it out!
Thanks Dom for the tips, most I knew, some I forgot, some I wasn't aware of... Now, all I need is a colour-changing t-shirt... lol!
I just noticed that t-shirt when I was scrolling back through the video and wondered if anyone else had commented! 😁
Thanks so much for this! I only knew of about 4 of the 10, and forgot about 3 of the 4. The rest were totally new to me and I have been a Cubase user for almost 20 years.
Thank you Dom - "Rerecord" is most helpful new tip. Thanks
I wish there was a musician as good as you who gave tips for FL Studio! Your videos make me wanna change to Cubase, but I feel like it is a bit late for me to change DAWs, I've been using FL for years now
It’s worth the change for sure!
It's a learning curve but Cubase is a great all.rounder.
I started my musical journey back in 2007, with the FL Studio 8 demo. Stuck with FL all the way until December of last year when curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to give Cubase a try. Totally worth it! It's my main DAW now. I recommend trying it out if you're curious.
@@stevesoucy5932 I'll give it a try then! Thank you
Fantastic Dom, I learned some cool moves :)
The Chords tip is cool , I didn’t know about it. The other tips are not new for me but when you put them in the context they became more powerful and want to use them.
I wish if you do more videos about the SuperVision, I’m sure when you explain it with a real examples we will appreciate it even more.
As a Cubase user for some time this is OUTSTANDING. Zillion thanks Dom.
Thanks Dom! ❤️
Can you make a vid to show how to “glide” an 808 sample - like people do in FL STUDIO? I love cubase and dont want to retoll daw!
Boom! Re-record. Can’t believe I’ve only just heard about this!
Same with me. How could I not know, its so useful.
When it comes to copying inserts between channels, I use the combination of Alt+Shift in Win, Command+Shift in Mac.
when I hold these keys, the tab at the top "Q-Link" lights up, and when I grab a specific plug-in, still holding the keys, I simply grab it and drop it on the target channel, or in the same way, when I hold these two keys, I grab the "inserts" tab and drop the entire chain of inserts on specific channel.
Also, the same Q-Link option is helpful when I have several channels and I want to remove several decibels at the same time or add them on specific channels.
I mark the channels that interest me (also groups and midi)
I hold Alt+Shift all the time and use the cursor to select one fader and adjust the entire selected section.
Finally...Thanx Dom, I always feel motivated and inspired after watching your video's. I think learning how your DAW works streamlines the creative process! There were a few tips I instantly tried out. My "BooM" moment was the hidden controles. Never could figure out how to customise my controles. Thanks Dom.
You’re a saviour!!!
i havent know them till now but they are boom for me tenx Dom
This channel is absolute GOLD ❤
Dom bringing the pure gold!
Those videos are really helpful … and I wonder if anybody has started creating some kind of searchable index for them. More often than not, I find myself thinking: Dom sure has a video with a hint on this - I sure watched it, but which one was it? 😅 Anyway, thank you very much for investing the time to create these videos!
That chord editing tip is a real beauty! Thank you so much
Those visual zooms to the right and left Cubase zones are EXTREMELY cool! And seeing your screen that closely is also wonderfully helpful for my aging eyes! 👀😁 Thank you 😎
What about his T-shirt. Did you notice it change color? That was syck!🔥
@@mgmthegrand syck? Just an easy video filter, cool, but not very impressive or hard to pull off, as long as the color of your t-shirt doesn't have the same color of the thing behind you. It's a nice touch, shows he's also a video editor as well!!!
BOOM for the re-record fonction 👍🏻😯
BOOM for DOM 🩷🩵
BOOM for Cubase 💕
Thanks ! I didn't know: re-record and the alt key + moving cursor to change the chord type
Hi Dom - "Re-Record" was absolutely a BOOM for me. I'll be using it during my very next track session, and beyond.
Re: "Constrain Delay Compensation" - - I never took time to understand that it's less complicated than I thought. It's mostly a nice convenience tool for live tracking/recording when a project is already full. Nice :-)
The copying of a plug-in setting is handy, and I'm sure many will like it a lot. I still prefer to save any good setting as a preset, then launch the plug-in and select the preset. GREAT video once again! Keep them coming.
Step Designer is an interesting tool. All tips are very valuable to do the job easer. Thanks a lot.
you are THE BEST thank you again and again for all your Cubase videos
Since I started following you last week, I get better at Cubase in a few days, after months of struggling 😅
Fantastically helpful, Dom! Thank you so much!
Since I am not a keyboard player, using the chord options is great timesaver for me. For this, I no longer have to use step entry and I can adjust the chords to the rhythmic value I want. Thank you for the great idea.
While I am well aware of chord creation feature (and I keep forgetting to use it 😆) I didn't know that you can change chord types with and Alt key and mouse drag. Thank You Sir for this tip!!
I've been using Nuendo (Cubase's big brother) for over 20 years, and every time I watch Dom, I learn something new. . . . thanks Dom!
Dom is secretly an octopus! He changes colour to green from light blue when he gets excited!
Dom's t-shirt changing to blue from time to time. 7:36 and at the end.👕
Honestly I did not know any of them!. thanks Dom!
booom moment! I've been searching for that for years!
Amazing tips! Thank you Dom❤️
Great tips, and the versicolor T-shirt is a nice touch...
Thank you, Dom. After 20 years with Cubase, I'm still a learner, and always appreciate what you do!
Rerecord is definitely a boom moment. Thank you
Thanks for the useful tips Don. New to me were the chord input function (although I'm a midi head from the eigthies, so I knew the midi step sequencer already from SX). New to me was also the Pulteq EQ curve in the standard EQ, also with curve IV. And Rerecord is a time saver, although Ctrl + Z worked a lot quicker already, compared to stop, delete, go the start en hit Record again. The . button for bars/seconds is new to me and copy plugin settings by right clicking in the mixer slot. So it was an educating video. Keep up the good work 🙂
The icon tip is amazing. Thanks Dom!
Another nice one Dom! Cubase has almost as many hidden gems as 3DS Max... almost.
Very useful video, I learned a lot!
It seems "expand routing" and "copy/paste settings" are the only tricks here that I knew about. :D I use copy/paste settings all the time since Cubase 10. I've been using Cubase since early 2006.
I bought Cubase Pro 13 when it came out, I have never seen or heard of D.A.W.S before, so I am so fresh and new like a baby!! I watched the video tutorial how to get around in 14 minutes.. . And the whole set up screen was different!
Can you please please do a NOOB video using Cubase Pro 13? From the basics up! So we are seeing the same thing and dont get lost!
Super, merci Dom, encore du temps et de l'énergie de gagnée en technique pour mieux me concentrer sur l'artistique :)
Hi Dom ! Thanks for these tips. The re-record I am already using since years constantly 🙂
Thank you very much! Not only for this content but for everything you do. I learned a lot from your content and you always transmit such good vibes! Take care.
Thank you so much for the support my friend ❤️
There is a hidden feature in Cubase that I discovered recently, which was making me upset about my mixing in cubase and this is the “sends follow pan” on the top right settings of the channel window. I dont know if maybe this was added in cubase 13 or It was before but… life saver!!!🎉🎉
Constrain delay compensation! Sheesh. I was using this in sort of a hacky, random way. Thanks for clarifying. The copy setting tip will also be useful. Great video.
Hey Dom. I just bought my first Cubase 13 Pro, so I am watching all your terrific videos on the amazing features Cubase provides. One comment on the MIDI Step Sequencer that maybe you can suggest to Steinberg is that Cakewalk has a step sequencer that does some amazing things that I wish Cubase could emulate. The Cakewalk step sequencer allows you to create ""flam" hits for drums like snares, and it allows you to set a probability for any particular note to be played (or not). That allows you to create some beats that are dynamic in the sense that some notes are there some of the time only, giving a stiff drum pattern some random variations. An even better feature would be to make the Velocity of any note, a random value between 2 set values. Please consider feeding this suggestion to Steinberg. Thank you for the great videos.
Awesome video Dom!!!
Love these kind of videos.............THANKS Dom
Pure GOLD. Thanks Dom.
Amazing stuff!!! Thank you!!!
Always so much helpful information! THANK YOU!!!
Dom you are awesome ❤❤❤ you changed me a lot, I became a good producer because of you. Million Thanks 🎉🎉🎉
This makes me so happy to hear ❤️
Seriously, I always go into a video titled like this with a food in my hand just playing in the backround and end up sitting down wit a notepad.
Cheers Dom
👍👍👍
Great stuff!
very nice, thanks !!!
Great video Dom
Thanks :-)
Thanks a lot for great tips!
Dom...the cubase jedi ❤
Excellent tips!
Thanks Dom! Always useful to watch your videos💥
Thanks again Don!!
Thank you Dom!!!!
The "Re-Record" is definitely a BOOM! tip!
Awsome!!
Excelente video!!! Felicitaciones!!!
Amazing channel 🙏🏽⚡️
I did NOT know about the re-record option, and heck yes it's a BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! moment! Thanks so much!
Dom one love!
Tack!
This video is BOOM!!!
Thank you Dom great tips 👍
the last one, yessssssss thanks a lot
I liked all the booms!! Excellent thanks a bunch
Great Tips
Thanks so match, Dom! Your tips videos always is very useful ! Cool! Keep going!
thank you Dom
This is one of your best! So much useful information in so short a time. I knew most of these but have gotten out of the practice of using them, thanks for bringing them back to the front of my brain!
Thanks Dom!!!!!!!!!!
I can't work without Selected track enlarge setting on. VERY useful to easy workflow and follow at what track am I at the moment. Same as "locate when clicked in empty space. :)
Most people use a mouse to put chords in?? Man, I am WAY out of the "Most" then. I am not being dumb, but don't "most" people who use things like cubase just PLAY a D min7 ? I don't understand. I swear to God I'm not trying to be oblivious to what musicians do, but since the 80s, if I have ever wanted to record a chord, I recorded the MIDI notes of me playing a chord progression. But aside from that, Dom kicks serious ass with Cubase tips. ALways love what you do brother.
For a home recording musician like myself you have been a Godsend. Thank you!
Thanks for all your content, pure gold!
thanks!
best teacher DOM BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Re-record! That’s a boom!!! Thanks Dom
Thank you so much🙏
