@@HarleyLuna31 it's not that simple. You might believe things will change. You might love someone so much that you deny the reality. Not everyone is as tough as you, I'm afraid, especially when you just want love and peace.
Camilla is so brutal here. The way she treats Diana is unforgivable. Also, the scene very accurately portrays what an eating disorder looks like publicly versus privately (something that's hard to do on film).
Newsflash: what happens here, and in 100% of the non-public scenes is fiction. There may be elements of truth but it was written by people who weren’t there advised on by people who weren’t present.
I know this scene is a work of fiction, however the very public affair was most definitely a known fact before it made it to the papers. Diana's restraint is remarkable. I have suffered a bad breakup due to cheating, and while I behaved myself and overcame all the usual cheating-related emotions, if I ever saw or heard the arrogance and innuendos like seen here--real or perceived--I struggle to think of what I would have done. If my ex's new dog ever had an interaction with me like this...as a person not ruled by my emotions...I think I would have SNAPPED. Someone under so much pressure as Princess Diana was, and so much public scrutiny of her and her sons...what a STRONG and admirable person.
ˇin real life they probably didnt have a meeting like this...but Diana says on her tapes that when she confronted Camilla about the affair then Camilla didnt have any shame...just said that "what else do you wnat? You are a princess , everybody loves you and you have two cute kids" ...unbelievable
in real life they didnt have a meeting like this but Camilla was still shameless when Diana confronted her about the affair, she said " what else do you want? You are a princess and everybody loves you, you have two amazing kids, what else do you wnat?" ...thats even more unbelievable in my opinion
Camilla was really asserting her dominance here with a significantly younger Diana. Basically letting her know that you may have been approved to marry my man, but I have his heart, you're nothing but a pawn.
Yeah. I kinda understand her. She was deemed unsuitable by the Royals and banned from marrying her man. And Diana was deemed more than suitable, Camilla must have felt so jealous. And was afraid of losing Charles. Diana was young, gorgeous, fiery and chic. But Charles was already in love with Camilla. And Camilla had him first.

Camilla's being kind. She's bluntly letting Diana know that Charles knows her better and loves her better than he ever will Diana. Which was true. Camilla was warning her.
And Diana looked better than the actress, which most of the time is the other way around... But how could one find a second Diana for playing that part? Nowhere!

May be because Margaret has been there - A woman in love perhaps doesn't have a choice to 'give up' she simply can't - As much as i feel for Diana - I won't really blame Camila or any of them -May be she tried when she got married. Actually all of them paid price - and for what - Charles actually got a throne in his late 70s , something for which he had to pay such a huge price and then got cancer :(- Living in the moment - going by your gut is so so underrated - we are so future focused when the truth is we don't know where future is going to take us anyway - we might as well take decisions which feels right at this moment

I dunno why all are in support of Diana here. They are all pawns, they are all victims. Yes camila, charles and Diana. All of them. Imagine being in love with someone and not being able to marry them bcos you were born a royal!!? Royals are supposed to be powerful. Yet all of them didn't have a choice. Because of the rigid rules of royalty.
Diana was never queen; she was the Princess of Wales. Camilla is a queen twice over: of the United Kingdom and of the King's heart. Whether you like it or not, Camilla is and always has been the greatest love of Charles. Finally, they got married! G’d Save the King Charles and the Queen Camilla!
I loved this scene for so many reasons, we see the differences between them not just in how Camilla knows more but how she's presented as confident and mature compared to Diana. I'm pretty sure this scene is pure fiction but it sets up the issues in Diana's relationship with Charles even BEFORE their marriage. He would've been suited with an older woman (obvs we know its Camilla) but instead he chose a younger one, someone he thought he could mold to adapt to him. Great acting on everyone's part, but especially Emerald who gave Camilla a 'softer' side. The scene where she and Charles are telling the bear story stands out too.
Charles didn't choose anyone. Camilla was married off while he was abroad in his early 20s. Not able to have her, he became a bit of a playboy with frivolous dates and not committing to anyone for the rest of his 20s. By his 30s, it was decided he should settle down and mature, so it was orchestrated that he'd meet Diana, several times, because they thought she'd be a good match. The paparazzi got wind of it before the waters could be tested, so they followed through with the engagement etc. Of course Camilla had divorced by then, but he couldn't marry a divorcee, so Diana it was. Charles never chose Diana, she was deliberately chosen _for_ him.

In this scene, Camilla puts on an air of casual indifference on purpose, while she very calculatingly ensures that Princess Diana knows just how close of a relationship she has with HER husband. Extremely cruel and vindictive behavior. Typical "F.R.A". (female relational aggression) displayed and all with a smile on her face, to show that she is really her "friend". Diana was so young, naive and impressionable. She was like a deer in the headlights. It's painful to watch. I'm a 60 year old woman now and have gained much life experience. Yet, this reminds me of my 19 year old self and getting "eaten alive" by older women who had an agenda to destroy me emotionally. I wish this had never happened to Princess Diana. The marriage was doomed right from the very beginning. Her husband was in love with Camilla and remained so, during the entire marriage. No woman deserves this.

@@deadahead7996 Yes, it's all Diana's fault and Charles is the innocent who got caught with his hands around Camilla's tampon. He's the real victim while being married to someone who actually did love him but didn't know he didn't love her until it was too late. He called her crazy, and she ran to those she also loved to try to get help, then she had to play to her public strengths and run to the media. But, yes, Charles is the victim. He is the victim of an institution that dehumanizes people, inside and out. But, when you are on the out, then well, we all know what happens.
@outinsider oh boy, you lot only like the love stories when they're in books, Charles is a cheater and a dick, but he loved a women from the start and proved it by being married to her since, he was forced into that marriage and I very very much doubt Diana didn't know how distant he was from the start, but Diana showed signs of being a narcissist and jerk herself, she loved and manipulated media attention and people by playing an innocent persona, she cheated with a married man supposedly and didn't give a crap that she was doing the same thing to another women that was done to her? Worst of all is Charles was uncomfortable with the people's obsession with Diana, enough that he let it slip publicly, but was that because of him knowing her true personality? Which shows her narcissism, envy, shallowness, attention seeking, childish and fake? Why does the Queen not only condone her son but also allude to Diana's behaviour being unacceptable. Stop being ignorant and blind and consider the relationships happening behind closed doors, just because she was pretty infront of people doesn't mean she was pretty inside. Now I could be wrong, but I know that the innocence and victimhood given to Diana isn't warranted.
Do you say that because Saltburn is her movie or did the association come independently? Makes me curious about whether Emerald Fennell infused her role as Camilla into Pike’s character
So sad that it is clearly obvious that Camilla is both trying to intimidate Diana, and pump her for information in this scene, “bragging about her intimate knowledge about the prince concurrently learning about Diana’s likes and dislikes so she can maneuver accordingly. More experienced and older people would have “grey-rocked” Camilla immediately, but poor Diana was just a naive 19 year old girl with little world knowledge. Now the master manipulator is on the throne and the poor, naive girl is dead. This scene almost foreshadows it.RIP, Diana.
I just don't see how a marriage between a 19 year old and a 36(?) year old was so okay.. I am happy that they let Charles "sow his wild oats" before getting married, but that didn't stop him from wanting to marry a specific person. It's funny that they were hoping this would be the way that they can avoid a divorce or an unhappy marriage. The fact that the Princess of Wales had to be this young Cinderella looking innocent virgin, while he was a 36 year old man already tied to another person is just so SO wrong. Edit: And Camilla is slightly older than Charles, so yeah, definitely has more life experience than Diana

@@amyb1344That's revisionism from Charles's supporters. If his mother would've let him marry Camilla from the start she would probably still be alive. The Queen wanted someone with a better image and could give grand kids. She didn't think that the public would love Diana so much and she would be the 2nd favorite of the royals.
Diana never eclipsed the Queen. Diana was only popular among young and celebrity worshippers. Queen had respect and love from people of all ages. Diana only had the talent of making headlines and manipulating media bosses. Camilla is so brutal here. The way she treats Diana is unforgivable. Also, the scene very accurately portrays what an eating disorder looks like publicly versus privately (something that's hard to do on film).
lol, this scene does not at all accurately reflect bulimia.
One of the best scenes of The Crown. “Golly. He obviously tells you everything”. Perfectly delivered.
@sandyduncan2927 I agree that line stuck out to me also
Camilla was really asserting her dominance here with a significantly younger Diana. Basically letting her know that you may have been approved to marry my man, but I have his heart, you're nothing but a pawn.
Diana was a descendant of the Stuarts but, yes, she was a pawn.
How pathetic.
Charles was never a prize. NEVER!
Her non-stop assertion that she knew Charles better was so rude. Scene does a great job of that.

When Diana offers to pay for the entire dinner, it was an attempt to reclaim her power of this terrible situation :'(
I loved this scene for so many reasons, we see the differences between them not just in how Camilla knows more but how she's presented as confident and mature compared to Diana.

If the family had just let him marry whom he wanted, Diana would be married to some other man so she could get constant attention. Oh well.
omg just looked it up 😂😂😂
Charles didnt want to commit until he was 30 and Camilla didnt want to wait that long to have kids.
And Diana would still be alive
real Camila is an SHREK
this one is gorgeous
Emerald Fennell MUST play Stevie Nicks if they ever make a Fleetwood Mac movie
Diana had a photo of Charles over her bed at boarding school, she wanted to be Princess of Wales. In the engagement interview she says "it's what I wanted, what I want", people give her no credit. She was a lot stronger than this fiction implies.
Charles was an obsession for her the way Camilla was an obsession for Charles. Maybe call it stubbornness not to give in, but she was fragile in the sense that she was very insecure and sensitive and easily got hurt deeply
She had pictures of Andrew, not Charles.
Diana was pure light. God bless her
Absolutely. They killed her. She was to good for them.
@@songbird19210she was a marriage wrecker.
Emma Corrin said in an interview that to add tension, the director had Josh O'Connor sit in between them through the scene and instructed them to hold his hand, but only one of them could hold his hand at a time. Apparently Emerald held on firmly the entire time 😅. I love thinking about this fact while rewatching this scene. How frustrating for Emma and boastful for Emerald it must have felt. A clever way to have the actresses feel the desired emotions.
Prince chucky will NEVER live this down. He is a horrible man, and he ruined a beautiful girl.
Diana accepted his proposal very quiclky she had her ambition.
@@maryk3458she was 19 accepting a marriage proposal. She wasn’t the one making a mistake.
@@maryk3458 at 19. Who of us has any sense at 19. WHEN she accepted his proposal, she did not know about Camilla. When she found out she wanted to break it off but was not allowed because of the embarrassment to him. Plus, Charles did propose to Camila and his family reluctantly agreed. Camilla though chose Parker Bowles over him. She had only used Charles to make Parker Bowles jealous. After Camila's first husband repeatedly cheated, she started thing back up with Charles. Which is why Mountbatten's granddaughter did not want to marry Charles. After the Camila breakup and her marriage to Parker Bowles, Mountbatten arranged for Charles to marry his granddaughter who was Charles's second cousin. She decided not to go through with it said no in 1976. After that it was quickly arranged for Charles to date Sarah Spencer by the queen mother and Lady Roche, Daina's maternal grandmother. the story was told he broke it off with her because she talked to the press. who knows if that is true. Lady Jane Spencer was engaged to Fellowes ( I am sure she later thanked her lucky stars) so then Charles had to wait until Diana turned 18 to keep it from looking creepy. I still l found it creepy she being so young and him almost 13 years older. I also believe the virgin bride requirement was crappola, invented by the press to make it not seem creepy he was marrying someone so much younger. William and Kate proved that by living together almost 10 years and it being well known William was not her first "serious" boyfriend. (translation, she was not a virgin when they got together)
He loved Camila but wasn’t allowed to marry her. Their love stood the test of time.
@@victoriamorgan2261 wasn’t allowed? Who forbid him? Camilla’s husband?
The 4th season was the most highly praised of the whole series, largely because of its emotional honesty for everyone portrayed. After this, the final two seasons dove head-first into one-sided, not-always-subtle rear-kissing, the 6th/final one even more so than the 5th. (3/7/2024)
season 2 was the best, season 1 was the second best, season 4 was the third best, perhaps the fourth
Claire was my favorite Elizabeth. But Season 4 was pretty good. I feel in Seasons 5 and 6 they a) tried to rush through a really long timeframe in a short period of time, which made it seem disjointed and lacking emotional depth. And b) they were really playing to the American audience who love the royal family fantasy story without having experienced or knowing much about a constitutional monarchy, given how popular Diana, Meghan and Harry were there.
It looks like they are eating poached eggs with cake frosting .
With seaweed flakes
I really want to know what they're eating, it really looks good lol

The Rottweiler is bullying the innocent puppy
You know Camilla is so grateful for Meghan Markle joining the Royal family, as she's no longer anywhere near the least favorite Royal. Then again, Prince Andrew also helped Camilla out there as well.
I suspect that Camilla's PR people are responsible for the daily barrage of hit piece articles on Harry and Meghan so people don't dwell on her. Harry called her a villain in his book Spare - that she was willing to throw them under the bus to advance herself.
Camilla is also wearing a green blazer. 👀
So?
@@britishroyalfamilyvideos Camilla told Diana that Charles’ favorite color is green, so her wearing his favorite color further rubs the fact that she knows him better in Diana’s face.
the fact that emerald is also the one behind saltburn is crazy to me. because here, you’ll see her with the great acting chops and she literally makes a whole new generation hate camilla without most of them being born during this time. she is just so talented, in scenes and behind the scenes.
emerald isn’t talked about enough in the crown. just her work on saltburn, promising and her little role in barbie. but here, she plays a beautifully pathetic character just right. she deserves to get awards for supporting role just for this clip.
both actresses are beautiful..
3:53 love the acting in this scene 👌😩
My heart cries for Diana... Camilla knew Charles more😢😢
I think it's sad that so many people confuse truth with fiction. This is a tv drama. It's not a documentary.
He still had an affair with her so what’s the difference if they make it more melodramatic?
@@ascent8487the difference is that real people are portrayed here that are actually still alive. Would you like a partially made up and not factually true drama about YOU AND YOUR FAMILY to be airing around the globe?!?!
@@Swan.princess My past is so boring I would have nothing to embarrass me, so bring it on.
Not that anyone would watch though.
Yes I highly doubt it happened like this
Excellent direction. It's a perfect scene - very engaging even when you're watching it for the fourth time.
Diana used to refer to her as "the Rottweiler. " Enough said.
I can't look at Emerald Fennell the same way anymore. haha.
Diana dealing with bulimia disorder... My heart got so heavy for her when she started to stress eat when camilla went off...
There are starving children in the world, and you sympathize with a foolish girl who never went hungry and wasted food?
She should have been in therapy, diagnosed, and the results given to the Queen. Prince Charles would have married someone suited to a Royal life.
Diana should have called it of after this, she should have said to this one Camilla, you know what, you marry him and walked away. Yeah there would have been a sensation for a few weeks but it would have blown over . Parker Bowles was there all the time she said here they speak every day. I didnt realise how bad Parker Bowles was.
Camilla was married to Andrew parker Bowles by then

How rude to smoke at the table with a non smoker.
❤
This was what? 1980ish? That was unfortunately very normal then.
This was 1981
Normal back then. The whole restaurant probably smelled of smoke.
How rude of someone to eat will someone is smoking.
I remember the night Diana died and how horrible, awful, it felt. I don't think I'll feel that way when Camilla passes.
Her impression of his voice is pretty funny, not gonna lie.
I thought so too! Spot on 😂
I found myself wishing I had a large cream cake I could decorate Camilla’s face with.
I don’t really care for the drama, but I’d really like this restaurant and that menu to be real!
I have never seen anyone eat a desert more aggressively.
You can cut the atmosphere with a knife.
I'm sure it didn't ever happen this way. I'm sure it was awkward, and I'm sure words were exchanged, but I doubt that Camilla was as condescending as the actress portrays her here. It makes for excellent TV drama, though.
Agree
Everybody talk about Diana or Camilla, I am here for the dessert. Looks so yummy.
They played poor Diana. She was sooo young She never stood a chance. Camilla. We will never forget. 🇨🇦
Long Live the Queen of Hearts
"I'm all for sharing" ugh !! That woman !!
Diana says that she's more of a townie here but in Scotland she says she's a country girl.
She grew up in the country, but she likes living in town
it's the language Camilla uses that takes her point across
sad she had so many people throwing red flags at her and she didn't know
I believe this was to rub her face into the relationship that she carried on with Charles not a friendly lunch at all.
It was so inappropriate for them to even talk/ be in the same place let alone have lunch together.
Camilla got the ultimate ego stroke knowing the prince loved her more than the most beautiful and beloved woman in the world, I can’t stand her. She should have known her place and backed up.
Diana was a CHILD. She was only 19, Camilla was 34-35 here. If not older.
Manipulating a 19 year old girl. What a piece of work…. And now she’s wearing the late Queen’s favorite crowns, one of which was worn by Queen Victoria. It’s despicable and so inappropriate. I can’t stand it.
Diana was not the most beautiful and beloved woman in the world at this time before the wedding. She was a shy Sloane ranger teenaged daughter of an Earl that was just debuting in the press. She was called Shy Di at this point and was even a little pudgy--hence the bulimia.
After her huge wedding, she became the most beautiful and beloved celebrity in the world. She became Princess Diana or Princess Di after the wedding and went on some massive tours with Charles and the rest they say is history.
@@lillybart-s9i Diana was never pudgy. Weight usually has nothing to do with eating disorders; they are about control. And I was a kid when the wedding happened. Diana was on every magazine cover the second they started dating and she WAS beloved by the public.
One had the heart of one man, the other had the heart of the people
It is a dramatised television show. Not a documentary.
I was born after lady Diana passed away. I don't know I feel her pain terribly. I don't know I just want to meet her and hug her. Whenever I see her eyes I feel I have met her. I wish I could meet u in person lady Diana. You have influenced people who were born after u passed away. Maybe I will meet u in heaven 🌹
Awesome scene. Keep it coming with the crown videos.
the fact this relationship was allowed to go on so publicly for so long before they were even married during and after to the point that she’s now the QUEEN of england really shows the respect the monarchy has for women
