Was Camilla a villain or misunderstood?

@MovingPicsOfficial I think the times made her a villain. I think she's misunderstood, but caged in a circumstance I don't think she actually wanted. I am less of a fan of Charles than I am of her. She made choices from his coercion.

A little bit of both, I'd say. Sure, hooking up with a married man was definitely the false course - although I do believe that Charles was the person mainly responsible here. We gotta stop blaming the affair partners more than the cheaters themselves.
But both Charles and Camilla were definitely victims of court politics. Charles should've never married Diana. It should've been Camilla from the very start. They were eachothers true loves from the start, and the court didn't allow them to be together and instead brought Diana into the game. As for Diana, although many people say Charles was the villain of her story, I also see her as more of a victim of court politics than as a victim of Charles. The courtiers lured an unsuspecting young girl into a marriage with a man who could never love her because he loved another, just to get rid of that other woman, and it terribly backfired because Charles and Camilla never lost their love for on another despite court politics.
As much as everyone wants to villainize them, they were star-crossed lovers, and Diana just a victim who was sacrificed by the court as collateral damage.

@@shimanopetermann9068 Yeah if Charles hadn't been who he was he would have always been with Camilla and would have never pulled someone like Diana. He wouldn't have even tried. Diana's family should have been looking out for her but didn't.

but that's the condition or consequences of being a royal. they are not considered normal individuals like us. they are kings and queens. they are the rulers and as a ruler, you think about the benefit of the people, you cannot involve your personal feelings. royals do not have that freedom. queen elizabeth is right in a way because she thought about the country and its people. she made that decision as a queen, not as a mother. and she is right. that's how she should be.
diana was worthy to be the queen, more deserving than charles could ever be. and that camilla is nowhere near as good as diana. diana was way better than camilla in every way. as a royal, charles has to make the decisions for the country and make sacrifices. charles, a king who can't even sacrifice that camilla girl, for his country and it's people, .... that is not a good king. if he can't sacrifice and take the responsibility he should take, then he is unworthy to be the king. if he wanted that camilla that much, then he should have left royalty and married her instead. if he chose to stick with royalty, then he should have not cheated on diana.

@@JoanMorrison-vq2jc I think Diana was so unhappy at the state of her life and marriage due to the infidelity of Charles and Camilla - which was flaunted in front of her from day 1 - that she sought happiness and intimacy from wherever she could find it, often in people working in her household or security. Not excusing the behavior - her sleeping with married men is no less damaging to their marriages as was Camilla sleeping with Charles. Not all of her rumored affair partners were married , and I don't know what the men who were told Diana about the state of their marriages. However, I think she was so damaged emotionally by Charles and Camilla that she may have mentally minimized the damage she was doing in her desperation to find some semblance of happiness in the arms of others.

To the people commenting that this is just a TV show:
While it was dramatized, it was true that Louis Mountbatten told Charles that Camilla "cannot happen" and he wanted Charles to marry his granddaughter, Amanda Knatchbull. When Charles did propose to her, however, she not only lost her grandfather in the assassination, but her brother as well, and she didn't like the idea of being the Royal Family under all that scrutiny.
Meanwhile, the Queen Mother did want Charles to consider the Spencer girls, whose grandmother was her lady in waiting. She got her way with him dating Sara until he set his eyes on Diana.
As far as Camilla, they got into it not knowing how deep it could get and when they realized they were right for each other, it was too late.

And Diana had the blood of Charles II lost in generations. Elizabeth's ancestor wasn't supposed to be king but the crown fell on his head due to Queen Anne being unable to have heirs despite many, many efforts. So Charles was doomed for the sake of the family. Good thing divorce was an option in his time.

Charles and Camilla hadn't been exclusive though. She married another man while Charles was looking for a wife and continued cheating on her husband. They became a proper item YEARS afterwards. Wdym they "didn't know how deep it would get"? They both made choices to betray people who loved them, and Charles made it clear on several occasions that Camilla is just suitable for him, she pampers him and does anything he says, that's why he chose her in the end. There is no grand love here. Not to mention how many other mistresses he had during all this time. It's just a story of two incredibly selfish people, who got everything by destroying others🤷

But then Charles foolishly outed Camilla as his mistress during the Dimbleby interview. Andrew Parker Bowles was then compelled to divorce Camilla to save his social reputation.

@@Kate-lk6tw it may be in an opinion but it is based in logic. If you are in love with someone that you can’t be without, especially in this case if they are the prince of wales, you aren’t going off to marry someone else. You only do that if you love the other person more. Camilla loved Andrew more, but when Andrew became unfaithful Camilla went back to Charles because he loved her more than Andrew did.

@tarawrr20 what? Camilla wasn't some 20 year old girl working in a coffee shop in New Jersey in 2024, she was still part of the Aristocratic elite of England in the late 20. century. You best believe that you had to get married, whether you liked it or not.
Besides, when Camilla and Charles met, Camilla was no virgin - which was a requirement to marry into the royal family. So marrying Charles was pretty much off the table from the get go. She married another man later on, yes, but everything else would've been like waiting on a miracle.

@@tarawrr20Camilla knew Princess Anne had a thing for Andrew PB. I think that's her nature to take something that belongs to another woman, someone she regards as above her socially and it feeds her narcissistic personality and self-esteem. She has a lot of internalized misogyny and was ruthless especially when she rode in the local hunt for decades. It's a barbaric sport where a fox is chased by dogs and horses and torn apart. That's what gave Camilla a thrill although now she's imitating Diana as patron of the royal ballet. As Oscar Wilde said "Imitation is the sikcerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness". Camilla being a low rent Diana in her old age. Disgraceful.

Everyone needs to remember, Camilla and Charles could have married each other, they just would have lost titles. And it was her that married while he was away, breaking his heart. So he tried to move on but she wanted her cake and to eat it too. She liked having the sheltered royal wrapped around her finger.
It's all her narcissism. And the Queen raised submissives, in order to control them. She loved her power too,,,it's all she had in the end. And she raised pathetic boys. Her daughter realising early to be immovable like a rock so her mother magnified her control over her boys and left Anne to herself.
Ps. The royals didnt delete Diana,,,the zionist foundation did. Diana was speaking for Palestine and was marrying a Muslim. Her baby removed without consent in France. And that's when the royals realised they don't run Britain and they need to behave.
And their legacy is worth nothing now. So why not make Camilla Queen. There's no further down

I love how Peter Morgan captured history in these scenes. And, if we are being fair, Camilla wasn't Charles' only mistress. But apologists go after Diana, who only pursued affairs as a response to Charles' intentional distance from her and mistreatment of her. Charles spotted dick left markings all over England.
Getting back to the scene, what is emotionally true is that Camilla knew she wouldn't be as loved as Diana, and tried to get out, but Charles wouldn't let her go.
    Charles sold her out too.

Charles had an affair with Camille, way before he got married to Diana.
Camille divorced her husband. The Queen didn't want Charles, the heir, to be married off to a divorced lady, as per rules.
If Charles had married Camille, not only would that have saved him from Diana and Diana herself but also lose the Royal titles.
They may seem happy now but it should be kept in mind that their love didn't have enough respect and courage to lose Royal titles for their love to stay strong.
