Avatar Aang was friends with Katara wich would go on to train the next avatar in the cycle (Korra) with her first element. Wich leaves us with Bolin. He is going to train the avatar after Korra. Wich means Avatar Rokus firebending teacher was friends with Avatar Kyoshi.
To be fair if I was Roku I'd give the same advice to Aang... Imagine being betrayed by your friend after spareing his life only to see your reincarnation make the same mistake all over again
Literally at the end of EVERY single Avatar background story it ends with “Unfortunately They ended because Rava was killed in Korra book 2 severing the next Avatar from their past lives”
She failed more than once. It's also due to her annoying personality, her belligerence, and her lack of anything resembling emotional or mental maturity. She also failed colossally by losing the past lives. It doesn't help that her story is disjointed, her character being one of reversion (her comics took any progression and shit on them), and she proves she isn't all hot shit frequently. She literally proves Amon's point in Season 1 when a Non-Bender is protesting Benders as being oppressors via megaphone. She then proceeds to toss him into a shop, thereby oppressing and infringing upon his rights. Instead of hearing him out she assaults his ass. This was to show progression later, but it's just one example. There are plenty more.

@@tylerdembo5953 I just found it a tad boring. I came to watch bending and cool shit. If I wanted to watch Power Rangers or Godzilla I would watch them. The biggest part of Book 2 I liked was Avatar Wan's backstory. I admittedly enjoyed Zuko's 5 minute return as well and Unalaq had some cool fight scenes. I just feel that of the four 2 was the weakest and was the least interesting of all of them. 1 and 3 were the most interesting of the bunch and 4 had quite a few cool moments. I think the biggest problem was they weren't given almost 2 years to plan everything out like with Avatar, so they just had to make stuff up as they went along. And it didn't pay off in my mind. If they do a new series I'm cool with it. But if they don't have time to plan for it and don't get a clear message on when they're done, I just won't be as confident in it. I think that Roku had another reason for sparing Sozin. Back then, Sozin had no heirs. If Sozin had died back then, the Fire Nation would be left without the royal family and without a leader. Sozin didn't have an heir until the same year the Hundred Year War started. Roku wasn't just sparing his old friend, he was sparing the Fire Nation from a power struggle.

Xman34 Less unpopular opinion: LOK would have been better if it had a different MC. There was some good/interesting characters, but Korra wasn’t one of them.
Braedon knott There were aspects of LOK that I liked, but many, many more that I didn’t like. For instance: I liked how the bending (especially metal bending) evolved and changed; It was interesting and felt like something that would believably happen. However I didn’t like the way the technology advanced so much. In ATLA it was a relatively small plot point to assist whichever side was using it, but bending was still the real power in the world. In LOK technology completely overshadowed everything else and the bending took a back seat (the most blatant example being in season four. I mean, who watched ATLA and thought “This needs a 50 ft tall mecha suit destroying a city”). And with Korra, I liked that she was an anti-Aang. That could be a really interesting idea if it’s done well. I like the idea of an Avatar that loves being the Avatar and can be rash and impulsive at times, but I feel like Korra’s character can be summed up by her first line. “I’m the Avatar, you gotta deal with it,” she is just so spoiled and entitled and rarely gets corrected for it. That just doesn’t make a likable protagonist that we should root for. There is more I could talk about but I have a feeling you don’t wanna read too long of a rant, if that’s something you feel like debating about though let me know. And, obviously, these are just my opinions, feel free to debate them or present your own views about either show.
Hugo Batista I get that it’s realistic, I just liked how technology was just a small part of ATLA and wasn’t a huge fan of how much of a focus it became in LOK.

As far as I understood, the Roku's island is practically Kyoshi-island of the fire nation. They are technically a part of the main kingdom but due to the Roku's conflict with the fire lord, they were probably pretty much independent. I guess Roku's main concern was that the people, wont find the new home and won't be very welcomed on the mainland.
I don’t know if anyone noticed but aang and Zuko lives are basically the reverse of avatar Roku and fire lord Sozin’s lives Roku and Sozin’s started out as friends and slowly became enemies over the years and Sozin spent his elderly years searching for aang, and Zuko spent over 3 years searching and hunting for aang and became friends with aang at the end of the series
Wasn't Roku's family part of the Fire Nation nobility? If so, that could explain how he knew Sozin, since Sozin's a prince, and how they became friends, since princes need friends as well.
No one: Roku: YOU MUST KILL HIM! ... Comics: Connection with past lives is important TLOK: YEET Just tells me that the authors of the literature beyond ATLA don't really communicate. Consequently, the writing is kinda all over the place, pretty bad and in contrast with the series...
Seeing Rava getting 'killed' was the most painful thing for me in the Avatar franchise. I hope they retcon this and have Korra meditate for a x amount of years, to regain the connection. If Korra pulls this through, and sacrifices a big chunk of her lifespan for the Avatar cycle, then that would be the biggest sacrifice she would have made, and could earn her great respect.
Mqw Mqwe that would be pretty interesting too like what would happen if a member of a royal family is the avatar- are they going to abuse their power even more or-

Omg guys check this out,
Avatar Roku was Friends with Gyatso wich would go on to train the next avatar in the cycle (Aang), to master his first element.

It is understandable that Roku things that way. After all he TRIED to be disciplined and nice to Sozin and Sozin betrayed him in the end.

the fact that his dragon died with him speaks thousands
Literally at the end of EVERY single Avatar background story it ends with “Unfortunately They ended because Rava was killed in Korra book 2 severing the next Avatar from their past lives”
FairyWings Korra failed once. ONCE!
Why are you so all over her!!!

And no Megazords this time. That said I apologize if I came across as hostile, I was a bit peeved when I wrote the comment.

I've always found it a bit disappointing how Zuko nearly started another war because he decided to ask his father's advice, it's bit weird that he would ask that
people aren't all good and bad, and old habits are hard to die. I think being compared to his father really messed with him since deep down, I don't think he ever really got over looking for his approval yet at that point. I was disappointed in him but I actually liked it as a plot point!
But zuko was right at the end of the day. It’s just his father convinced him to take it to the extreme
Okay sure but Zika asking him Ozai for advice is Aangs fault because Ozai should be dead as oppose to simply rotting in jail then dying
@@alexandrocorona9283 not really. There’s no mandate that a living Ozai must be sought out for advice. Zuko still chose to seek out the advice.

Aang really only has two really impressive feats, which are
Ending the 100 year war, and creating republic city
Korra has saved republic city twice so that's at least as impressive as aang, and she stopped vaatu which is just a better version of aang's feat of ending the 100 year war
I know when the Roku/Sozin episode came out and it was revealed Zuko was Roku's great grandson, it finally clicked why Roku let Zuko go as well as Aang in the temple. That was actually well thought out.

Also Zuko is the last surviving male member of the OG Team Avatar, so jokes on you Sozin!

Unpopular opinion: Korra on it's own is okay. It just pales in comparison to ATLA.
Xman34 Less unpopular opinion: LOK would have been better if it had a different MC. There was some good/interesting characters, but Korra wasn’t one of them.
Corey Klaustermeier it could’ve been better but it was just trying to be ATLA and failed, becoming a show without its own identity
@@coreyklaustermeier7329 I honestly hoped I'd start a rant
What I always wondered is why did he even bother fighting the volcano? Like couldn't he just left with the other people?
Why didn't he just bend all the water over them, or make the both flow in the same direction

True, roku was stupid
@@adam91876 You're dumb, volcanic eruptions could devastate far more than just the island they're on. It causes population in the air and water, affecting global warming. Plus, someone had to do something about it, it was home too.
3:01 one thing that confuses me is that Korra was able to teach herself fire bending as a child, struggled like a slave to learn air bending
I love the Avatar TLAB content, keep it up!
I just realized that learning a new element is like learning a new language fluently
Wasn't Roku's family part of the Fire Nation nobility? If so, that could explain how he knew Sozin, since Sozin's a prince, and how they became friends, since princes need friends as well.
