I wish the creators of Avatar would explain how the second avatar knew he was the avatar... A story I would love to hear!
Yeah, I agree. I wish that the creators would do that.
Maybe raava was able to talk to side avatar and told them.
yeah, back then the sages didn't exist so there was nobody that could tell you that you were the avatar. but if i had to try and guess, i would say that like little kid Korra, he probably discovered he had the abilities by using them one day accidentally.
Well it's likely that the first 10 or so avater didn't know that they were it was probably when the four nations just started their founding when they realized that every 100 years or so I new person with all four elements (it's likely that the four nations didn't communicate a lot because of war) but they'd figure out the cycle and what the avater was
Same here. It would be a very interesting story in my opinion.
The first avatar: Wan, the second avatar: Tu
The third avatar: tre
The Fourth Avatar, Faux
7th avatar: sevn
The eight avatar: yet
Ninth avatar: nigh

I think everyone seems to forget that Wan isnt just the first avatar. He's the ONLY avatar. He was reborn again and again after his first life as Wan. He's Aang, Kyoshi, Korra and all the others. Though they all have their own memories and personalities. They are still one and the same.
Yeah, a reincarnation
Pretty weird to think about that aang is WAN
I look at them as different people no matter how hard I try XD
@@tonyyss3322 they technically are different people with the same soul lol they have their own memories and experiences, seperate personalities. But yes, Aang is technically Wan just reborn again...and again...and again. Until Korra ruined it.
they are still wan and the same
Imagine being the next avatar, some big villain comes up and you have no idea how to deal with him, you get told "Don't worry fam, you can just call up some of the previous avatars for help" And then you do, but the only one there is fucking korra

I know everyone is making fun of wan’s name, but did you know that “wan” means 10,000 in chinese? This seems suitable since harmonic convergence happens once every 10,000 years
Damn, that is pretty brilliant.
just like the giant owl guy was wan shi tong which means “he who knows 10,000” things!
Damn that's pretty big
@@honeydew311 It all makes sense now.
I know that. I'm a sinoboo
There NEEDS to be a series on the next avatar. This avatar should focused on regaining the past lives of the avatar
Doesn’t make sense that once the line has been severed it can be repaired
@@seary2416 but it's said somewhere that it's impossible to destroy the Avatar cycle. I might be too optimistic, but I don't think the creators are the type of people who would just end the story like that. They'll make a show about the next Avatar that regains the connection, mark my words. Plus, guru Pathik also told Aang that if he ran away to help Katara, he wouldn't be able to get into the Avatar state and boom! He actually did later. So yeah. It all depends on what the writers choose, everything's possible. I swear, sometimes people are literally trying to find logic in a cartoon where the only limit is whatever Bryke choose. 🙄
Emily E Part of me sincerely doubts that the writers would do that, but I really, really want them to. Spend a few episodes, if not a whole season fixing Korra’s mess and getting shit actually back on track instead of having to start over. Also think it has potential for some good comedy relief, like the link is built a little wrong and you end up with teenage Roku or teenage Kyoshi. Give us insight into what they were like younger while also leaving more conflict for the new avatar to solve. But yeah, we’ll likely just be stuck with bratty Korra who will tell the next avatar to not listen to common sense.
They prolly will make 2 more shows, 1 for earth avatar and 1 for fire avatar to complete the cycle
I only like the original show of Airbender
Can you imagine the 2nd avatar's reaction when they can bend more than one element then suddenly wan showed up as a ghost. That must have been one hell of a freak out
LOL I CAN IMAGINE THAT
I still can’t believe in The Legend of Korra the creators deleted Aang, Roku, Yangchen, Wan, and 10,000 years of avatars.
it was unaloq, not korra
Don't forget Avatar Kyoshi
Lapis Lazuli best girl kyoshi. You should check out the books
@UzumakiThinker Not going to lie Kyoshi is my favorite, Aang and Korra are tied for second in my heart
Did she ever get them back
I’m still so pissed that the avatar cycle was restarted.
Wait I haven’t watch LOK since it came out; can you explain to me what happened? So is there no such thing as the avatar anymore? Restarted? So does that mean no future avatar (if there’s a such thing as more avatars) can’t ever talk to Aang or Roku or kioshi, etc anymore?
Edit: I rewatched the show and I am very sad. Okay that’s all.
just pretend its not canon and hasn't been restarted
That ho dead ass killed everyone bro like wtf
Korra is not canon. Dont bother yourself. The original writers in avatar didnt write Korra. So Korea is just a trash story at best
ten tail madara I’ve never watched it but from what I’ve heard I’ll just pretend it doesn’t exist
A lot of people are saying that the reset of the avatar cycle doesn’t matter, but like, The Avatar State is extremely powerful because it combine all the knowledge of the past avatars, along with Raava’s power. But with Ravaa and all of the old avatars being killed, the avatar state is almost worthless.
Korra can easily circumvent that with her energybending and the next one will have easy access to her knowledge.
Raava is still there. Korra ripped her out of unavaatu. After raava was destroyed, she started growing immediately inside vaatu. It’s the past lives that are gone
True
I didn't even watch the entirety of Korra, but even I know you can't argue with this comment because that was literally the entire point of the writers doing that.
Korra lives in a world where they feel the avatar is no longer necessary. So they were like "let's prove it by restarting the avatar cycle" as if that was a good idea.
But as long as good exists, so will evil. Peace cannot and will not remain forever. So even if Korra's world doesn't currently need an avatar, sometime later in her current life or in one of her reincarnations, the world will need an Avatar again. And when future avatars look up to statues of Aang, Kyoshi, Roku, etc and go to call upon these past lives in times of need, they will not be there.
The next time an avatar needs to master all four elements in a few months time to prevent the world from destruction, Wan and Aang will not be there to provide guidance.
Remember when Aang was lost and stuck trying to decide how to handle the fire lord? He didn't just look to Roku for guidance. He went back multiple generations of avatars to seek out their guidance and their stories.
What if the next avatar is put in such a dire and desperate situation? What if violence breaks out between the humans and spirits again? If the next avatar has to live through that, the only person they will have left to call on will be the avatar who started that war by disrespecting the first true avatar whose wisdom in *this specific scenario created the avatar cycle in the first place*
Korra realising she f#cked up
15:52 the creators confirmed that the spirits of the Avatars aren't dead and that they're pretty much just chilling in the spirit world.

Im thinking maybe his half good half bad character is reference to the avatars duty to keep balance since you cant have good without bad
Yin and Yang
Exactly just like Yin-and-Yang and it's so sad that they took that away and replace with Westernized version of the polarity with Vaatu, and Raavu. I don't mind the first avatar but I don't like when they replace the idea of Yin-and-Yang like it's not there anymore. Although, one thing they both have in common are still considered to be balance of bad and good even though there are differences between the bad and good. Like for example, from personal experience I can be selfish, quite loud, moody, sound like I'm a dog or an animal, and careless.
My positives are actually too sensitive (I am an emotional empath and know when someone is lying), strong than I thought because I feel looked down by others from personal experiences I appear as emotionless being that I don't wanna hurt people, smart, creative, relaxed, and emotional. Although I'm not good at speaking up for myself I realize the compliments I get that I have strong argument or opinions.
FaunaRivers They reference to the yin and yang a lot and say that ravva and vattu are the living form of yin and yang but it isn’t very clear to see👍

Yea I’m passionate about atla but it’s not that serious
Who agrees that they need to have a series called Avater: The Cycle Begins or something like that cause seriously after watching this I think they need a series based of Wan alone.
I don't think a series on him would be needed because his life was well summarized but a prequel on avatar after him of few avatars after him that have seen the birth of individual nations would be very cool. Plus because only few avatars back there was Wan he might be a frequent spirit like Roku was for Aang.
I AGREE. I could care less if we were given a summary of his life. Going deeper into who he was, what he thought, what he felt, what he struggled with, what he achieved, what his bonds were like, etc. ALL OF THAT WOULD BE AWESOME TO SEE IN A SERIES. Expanding on what was said in the summary of his life we were given would be such an great thing to see. I’m just fascinated with how Wan just did his best for something he truly believed was the best option. Years later it’s seen it really didn’t help, but nonetheless seeing him grow and mature with Raava is a series I would definitely be willing to watch.
I'd say a movie. In the same style as korra or ATLA and not the live action bs movie
Ordinary kek I think you have
No, make a Serious where one episode is one Avatar. Maybe sometimes 2 or 3 Episodes for each one. Would be so interesting. The Avatars should all tell there own story.

When the writers decided to sever all the Avatar’s past lives and make Korra the new beginning of a new avatar cycle, that’s when they severely fucked up.
they severely fucked up when korra is a fucking child, and goes stomping in her ice hut firebending, earthbending, and waterbending at like 5 years fucking old, ala episode fucking 1.
@@VonDelacroix its not canon. not the original writers. LOK is a social politic pushing agenda propaganda. just like they did to star wars. erase the history and make the main character a women with unlimited power with zero training. They're also lgbqtkdjas alphabet .
Richmond Phan damn 😭😭😭😭
VonDelacroix the main reason why Korra was arrogant and boasted her skills from a young age is because (I think) each Avatar is gifted in areas the previous Avatar either lacked or saw as their regret. For example, Avatar Roku had deep bonds with those around him and cherished individuals deeply. This was his downfall though when he failed to bring down his childhood friend which could’ve made him regret being the avatar at all. His next life, Aang, runs away from the responsibility of being Avatar all together which encapsulates Roku’s regret at his end (That portion was explained to me and I hope it made sense lol) Within Aang’s life we see him be connected to his spiritual side more so than anything else. He was also trained very well in air bending because he wanted to live as a normal air nomad and live the rest of his life normally with his people. After Aang comes the next Avatar, Korra, and she is born without these two things. She is definitely not connected to her spiritual side and cannot seem to master air bending at all. She also does what Aang’s biggest regret was in his life. Korra runs headfirst into training to be the Avatar and takes pride in it. She doesn’t shy away form it like Aang did, but embraces it and becomes cocky. When Aang left the air nomads, the extinction of his people came along with that decision and therefore a lasting scar was etched onto his heart forever. So, instead of running away, Korra goes in with full confidence she will achieve great things because she’s good at three elements out of four. I’m not sure if Aang lowkey resented spending so much time trying to be a normal air nomad or if being good at air bending ever brought him mementoes of sorrow over what happened to his people. I do, however, think that Korra is a reflection of what Aang couldn’t be. Aang was definitely not arrogant from what I’ve seen. He was a kid who had to grow up to save people. His previous life as Roku gave him the ability to form deep relationships with those around him (I think) and this is why he’s able to affect those around him, but also be affected by those same people as well. He had to learn different elements quickly and struggled internally with himself and his morals for he didn’t want to kill anyone. I sometimes see parts of Aang in Korra when she hesitates to do things you’d expect her to do. Moments where she backs down, stays quiet, or reflects inwardly are all things I see Aang in. Anyways sorry this is long but I just felt like sharing this as it gives us a new perspective of how to see Korra’s character! (Also it’s super late for me and I should be sleeping so I’m sorry for any typos)
I have a question though. Korra lost her connection to her past lives, but happens to their spirits? Are they gone forever? What happened to Aangs spirit?
I believe that it is very fitting that Wan’s first element was fire. He definitely had a fire personality, he was cocky and arrogant, but as you mentioned, his selflessness was his redeeming quality.
The reason he’s isn’t like a classic avatar is as he was the first and didn’t know what he meant to be

I didn't watch korra because it was shit, and I watch this awesome origin story to further find that korra is shit.
I'm just watching the series again. Is it clearly said that the circle is back on track? Korra said she is the last avatar. Or should the fact she re-fused with Raava be enough to make clear that the circle is back again? I mean the avatars bevor her are definitely gone.
Korra has to find a way to get the past avatars to her and ravaa cause if not I’m saying goodbye to ATLA (I knew LOK was shit) so I never watched it but seriously her choice was stupid and she’s the avatar how the hell did she not defeat him is he or she stronger or something cause if not she could’ve Im just so pissed how korra can make that mistake now the new avatars if they’re gonna be some since she like ended it smh have to find them instead of mediate which is better honestly imma pretend korra never existed and think aang is still the avatar cause in my opinion he was the best out of all korra never heard of her
Karen Orellana she didn’t choose. She lost because Vatuu had more influence on the world than Ravaa. Which meant Vatuu was more powerful. If she didn’t fight the past loves would’ve been lost regardless. Vatuu fused with the antagonist and ravaa fused with korra and Vatuu was too powerful. But despite this she powered on and won at the end of the day. But she lost the connections of her past lives. No other avatar after her will be able to contact their past lives. What happened on harmonic convergence brought back many air benders which aang wanted the most, and it rebuilt the air nomads. And Korra is attempting to make up for what happened by writing about every single avatar that was lost she can do the next avatar can have access to the books be able to get advice. She trusted someone who was family and it cost her and others a lot. she developed issues with trust afterwards. But in the end overcame it, trying to be the symbol of peace she is supposed to be.
Wan reminds me of Aladdin. I know that seems odd but he is cocky, clever, fast, a thief but very selfless in the end.

Regarding how Wan is almost the opposite of what an avatar is expected to be, I think it's very similar to the difference between conquerors and kings. Someone who is good at forming nations or defining positions is not necessarily good at sustaining them. It took very un-avatar like qualities to acquire the power of the four elements, but when someone inherits that power they have a different responsibility to not let it go to their head -- especially since they did nothing to earn it in the first place. Humility has little place in the acquisition of power, but goes far in the handling of it.
That is probably the greatest thing I've ever read in a RUclips comments section. Hit the nail on the head. It probably took many, many tries in order to get the humble, level headed, wise Avatar we now have. I wish the series would dive deep into these other characters. There's so much lore we haven't uncovered.

yeah, Wan story was really good; the only flaw was that it should have happened many thousand of years ago, not just a few ( in "Legend of Aang" we see thousands of Avatar's statues" so, unless all of them lived less than 10 years, Wan Story should have happened many thousands of years ago).

They rarely talk to their past lives so they thought it was good idea to get rid of the past reincarnations.
Hopefully the creators denounces Korra, and makes a better avatar.
Blue Green
Why would they denounce Korra?
She is a perfectly fine Avatar.
And how the fuck would they ‘denounce’ her?
TLOK is based around her, to denounce her is to denounce the show which is absolutely stupid.
Just be glad that we are getting more seasons of ATLA, and that the next Avatar in the cycle would be an Earth bender which is gonna be awesome.

Because her whole identity and entitlement was based on being the avatar and she barely had character development.
So it's no wonder that people don't like her as a protagonist.

No he doesn't
Which trait
Lol
Every time when an avatar dies: “Alright past lives move on another row for the new dead avatar to help the new avatar.”
The way they destroyed the past connections remind me of a quote I heard somewhere.
The Father builds
The Son continues
The Grandson destroys
In the case the Avatar, Wan built the foundation, Aang continued bringing balance, Korra destroyed the balance when the connections were destroyed.
And I’m still furious.
Korra didn’t destroy the past avatars. It was Unalaq and Vaatu, you know, the villains? I really don’t get this weird thing with the fan base acting like Korra went out of her way to break the connection to the past avatars. She was defeated by the villain, outside of killing the main character which would just not happen, Vaatu “killing” past avatars shows how powerful he is and his level of threat. Korra also loses something real and valuable. It’s called stakes. You are supposed to be furious, at the villain, and therefore hope the villain is defeated.
@@flameheadshero Let's all not forget that while Korra had her connection the past avatars severed, Aang ALMOST got the entire Avatar Cycle destroyed because he decided to use the Avatar State in an area where Azula can zap him casually. Vii X Of course it’s not as good as ATLA and I am no fan of the WOKE vagina power type stuff but nevertheless it is still part of the story. And there were definitely some good story arcs in it.
It seems like there’s an interplay with personality and destiny. The other avatars were born knowing it was their job to keep peace and they had no choice being born as the avatar. So they were born and raised to be humble and take on the weight of the world. Wan, himself, needed that extra cocky attitude to achieve what the other avatars were born into. And he made it his personal goal to protect the world

I’ve always thought characters like Wan are the ideal of how humans really should be.
Good & Evil are both extremes, and neither are balance, instead being one way or the other.
Meanwhile characters with traits of both are the ideal balance.
It takes being cocky to seek power for oneself, but it takes humility to use that power for others.
Very true, if more sought power like Wan for others while not being corrupted by It or being irrational with the shares, maybe life would be dream.

It suffers from the same branch of problems the prequels to Star Wars did, and everyone called George Lucas out on his shit back then.
