Well in the legend of korra, in the past people rely on the lion turtles to give them bending abilities but i dont know if those are the same lion turtles as the one that Aang encountered.

I just realised something, when Toph sees Korra in LOK she’s like ‘nice to see you again twinkle toes’ but Guatso and Roku knew each other too so when Gyatso realised Aang was the Avatar he was probably like, ‘nice to see you again sparkles’
See, this is why I have a few issues with Korra's story. Avatar Roku was such a prominent character in the roll of Aang's mentor, and was there to help and guide Aang all throughout the Last Airbender's journey. With Korra, even after she successfully awakened her Avatar state, still had little to no interaction with her previous lives whatsoever. It's like Aang was supposed to be her spirit guide, but instead just said 'eh. I've got living descendants that can give her advice instead. I'm sure she'll figure it out.' 😑
She wasn't raised spiritually and was constantly being watched by her (then) mentors. From her pov I could see how she could want some independence. But I more so sympathize with the fact that she didn't have any spiritual role models or monks like aang did. Not to mention she never trains with tenzin until she's 17. That's 17 years of that way of life that hasn't been shown to her so honestly can't blame her.
Is Roku had killed Sozin that day, he would have risked permanently destabilizing the fire nation and plunged it into an era of decline. This is exactly what happened to the earth kingdom when Avatar Kyoshi killed Chin the conqueror and threatened to do the same to the earth king of that time if the threatened to get out of line too. It was simply a no win situation for both of them...
It would've balanced the 4 nations, though as the Water Tribe wasn't doing too hot either iirc. While the Air Nomads are predominantly peaceful. However, it would just result in a world in which each has internal problems.

Which is basically what happens later at the volcano. Shows that Sozin isn't trustworthy, but Roku is blind to that/too forgiving. Really excellent writing.

Despite the fact he didn't prevent a Hundred Years War, Avatar Roku is my favorite of The Avatar Cycle by far. He is from the Fire Nation, my favorite. And he makes an example that not all firebenders are evil or cruel like Sozin, Ozai, or Azula. Like and give your favorite Avatar.

Avatar roku was a great avatar and I wish it didn’t end like that and if it never ended like that then sozin and roku would still be great friends and their would have been no war and no enemies between the four nations
I get the feeling Sozin had the right idea but the wrong execution, especially considering Avatar Wan's mission to end war so that the spirits and humans could be reunited.
Sozin should have invented capitalism and sell fire nation technology to the other nations (mainly the earth kingdoms and the water tribes) so they can destroy each other more easily.
Couldn't Avatar Roku airbend and earthbend the poisonous gases he inhaled to save himself, then fly away? (I included earthbend in there since there are particles of dust and other elements in the periodic table that are found underground)
You forgot the part that he did came back to the Fire Temple to master the Avatar State, he struggled, he tried to use the Winter Solstice sun to help, but he got stuck in the Avatar State.
Perhaps a hot take but Sozin's intent at least when he first pitched the idea to roku was not bad per se and could have been very prosperous for all parties involved had he just adopted the route of diplomacy rather than war

The voice actor of Roku was so perfect when he was combined with the writing. You could hear the wisdom and power in the voice of Roku!

I get the feeling Sozin had the right idea but the wrong execution, especially considering Avatar Wan's mission to end war so that the spirits and humans could be reunited.
Sozin should have invented capitalism and sell fire nation technology to the other nations (mainly the earth kingdoms and the water tribes) so they can destroy each other more easily.

You forgot the part that he did came back to the Fire Temple to master the Avatar State, he struggled, he tried to use the Winter Solstice sun to help, but he got stuck in the Avatar State.
Perhaps a hot take but Sozin's intent at least when he first pitched the idea to roku was not bad per se and could have been very prosperous for all parties involved had he just adopted the route of diplomacy rather than war
