Welcome to Alaska! We are originally from the northeast as well 😊 thanks for watching! Coffee recipe is; Pumpkin Spice Latte 3 tbsp pumpkin puree 1 tsp chai spice 1/4 C milk raw honey to taste -mix all well and throw in with your coffee!
New subscriber here nice to meet you all . I love Alaska my hubby used to be stationed there long before we met . We are from Ohio the heart of it all .We live in the country and have chickens dogs and cats .
Greetings from New Hampshire! Like some of the others, just found your channel tonight. Looking forward to checking out your other videos and watching future ones! Thank you!
We do have plans for videos on foraging and stocking the home apothecary in the future! Next video is going to include a recipe for cough syrup & elderberry syrup!
So glad to have found you tonight and I am proud to say that I am subscriber #827. I look forward to seeing you get monetized. I realize that this is a very busy time and season as you are trying to get your feet on the ground. It would be so nice if you could introduce all of us, as the more we know about you, the more we can pray for and encourage you. You seem to have such a nice, supportive family. I pray for your safety and success in all of your adventures. Just a little about me; I was raised in Anchorage from 1946 to 1962, when I joined the USAF. I am now 80 living at the Veterans home in California. I am a proud conservative who loves the freedom that Alaska offers. Bill
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing Bill! We appreciate your support and prayers. In future videos, we will introduce ourselves a little better. Alaska is a special place. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Just subscribed. Looks kind of like our surroundings here in the Arrowhead of MN. Firewood all cut and stacked. Just waiting for snow and ice fishing here. I like how you two show different aspects of your day rolled together. Waiting on your next video.
Birch and Willow are both great for extracting and teas. The outer bark of birch is highly coveted as fire starter, too. Unfortunately it doesn’t get cold enough here for chaga to spawn on our birches. As far as native resources in your area, do you have access to cottonwood buds? They are phenomenal in so many ways.
@ The buds are one of the few things on my list worthy of sourcing externally. Don’t have them here. Every year I try to obtain five or so pounds of the late spring buds. I’ll macerate them 1-2 years before pulling. The finished oils are a staple in most every formulation due to their preservative properties.
Hey guys what a nice property you have you know what would make it even better it's got a shitload of small gravel two to three inches and then a compactor from your house out 20 ft or more will do is in the summer especially if you compact it right it'll be almost like concrete and when it rains it allow the water to perk right through it so you won't get any standing water the other nice thing is it keeps all the bush from growing back so I would suggest next year clear everything out really good break down the soil and have gravel brought in and compact it really really good and it'll make a big difference
I pray your channel moves on up. I really enjoyed the video and the music and scenery. You do an absolutely awesome job of editing.god bless and stay safe and keep on growing.
Hi new sub :) Just found you guy's, Beautiful little cabin you have there 👍, Yes mother nature gives us most things we need it's awesome to see people using what there for us :) Beautiful area stay warm take care
@@holdfastalaska Yes I've been off grid 11 years & slowly building a power system that works full time, A little gardening & gathering from mother nature , I just started my channel a couple years ago as all I watch is RUclips as my TV so my daughter helped me set it all up so I can share !
We came from the soil so I believe that everything that comes from the dirt can heal our body. Our Father has provided everything we need we just need to listen to people like you that has done her research ☺️
Hello from Queensland Australia. Alaska is so interesting to me. I have only seen snow once in my 70 years.. cant say i enjoyed the experience 🙄. Being isolated by snow would be my worst nightmare .. i live in the sub tropics.. winter for us is getting down to single figures in Celsius 9C (48F) and we are freezing and get the wool coats out.
Wish I livied closer to you I have about 4 different floor jacks and I would give you one so you don’t have to use that windup jack. Got to use what you got.
Hey guys.... just watched and liked all of your videos. Off to a great start! Consider putting in an intro for new subscribers with a summary of what you're doing, kind of like "Cabin River Outdoors," "Gettin Off Grid," and "Wild Homestead"...the 3 best off grid channels on RUclips, imo. Your channel could be just as big. Wishing you all the best!
Suggestion, maybe do a video on what you are doing for power. I assume you are currently using a generator. Also it looks like you might be using satellite internet. Have you looked at starlink?
Just found you and I love what you're doing! Wow! Just something that's a bit odd to someone from Finland, why don't you have a huge brick fireplace that stores the heat for hours/days for just a minimal of burning wood? Just wondering, no criticism here :)
A brick fireplace would be wonderful! I’m not sure why, but in Alaska I’ve seldom seen brick fireplaces. It may just be logistically getting all the bricks shipped up here. That’s a good question!
@@holdfastalaska that was a good video! Get your audience super curious if you!!! I liked it, it may not have been your intention but it got me curious of you tho!!!!! 😻😻😻❤️
Do you have a video about the things that birch is good for and how to do it. I have osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease with a fusion in the top and the clasps disc at the bottom so I have lots of pain, but I’m allergic to aspirin so what you were saying about birch wonderful to me. Please message me back and let me know what you have or if you have anything, tell me a book that has the information or something. Thank you y’all have a blessed day.

I think you meant the birch is equivalent to aspirin, not Advil (which is ibuprofen). Birch contains salicylic acid, which is a component of aspirin
You are absolutely correct!
Suggestion, maybe do a video on what you are doing for power. I assume you are currently using a generator. Also it looks like you might be using satellite internet. Have you looked at starlink?
We have looked into starlink! Plan to switch soon. A video on power is a good idea! Thanks for watching 😊

I really hate vinegar. Is it possible to infuse the birch in ethanol?
Yes it is! We also like to infuse in brandy, strain, then whip with some raw honey for an elixir.
Hello new here. May god be with you and keep you aafe

I think you are confusing Advil with Aspirin. Salicylic acid is a key ingredient in the production of acetylsalicylic acid and also known as aspirin
