I've been a subscriber for a long time. This was one of my favorites. It brought back so many memories of trips I took in my youth. Nothing says the North like a Pendleton shirt, bright sun, splitting wood with a well-worn axe, the smell of wood smoke, and working yourself into a sweat in the snow. I appreciate the immense work and patience it takes to capture these trips alone, and I thank you for allowing thousands of people like me to return to the moments in our lives when we were as rugged as the outdoors; days that lifted our spirits and instilled a lifelong love of nature. You are creating a legacy of which you can long be proud.

I can honestly say I NEVER been as ecstatic to see another person get BACK to the thing/life-style they love most.
My heart is so happy for you!
I hurt my knee last summer when a really bad current/wave at the beach pulled my 5 year old into the ocean. She wasn't even knee deep but the "under pull" was so BAD it just swept her into the ocean.
I almost drowned and twisted my knee tossing her back towards the shore to her dad.
Since then my knee has turned purple AND its been inflamed a few times.
Seeing your videos gives me hope that I will be able to walk miles and miles down the beach again someday.
Thank you for everything you and Erin do!

One thing I love about your trips is the amazing cooking. I watched this with my mouth watering. When I was young we ate a lot of pasta, baked beans, and bread on our trips. Of course augmented with fish when we could. Nothing like you do now. Wonderful wolf shots. I had a very similar experience on the Canadian side on the east end of Gunflint Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (Minnesota) on a snowy Christmas to New Years week, many years ago. I was taking a break sitting against my gear on a toboggan when 3 wolves came out of a cedar bottom. They saw this lump on the ice and came right out to me to see what it was. About 30 meters away they realized I was a human and turned and loped away. Magical. Keep them coming Jon. I am an old man now and live through your amazing adventures. All the best to you and Erin. Spring is coming. Life is stirring.

This is true genuine camping at its best . fully immersed in nature, not a technology or toys showing or advertising some type of RVs or items for bigger companies to make money off , no no this is true .
This young man actually goes in out on his own dragging everything on his back he goes through so much to produce and share this piece of heaven with us.. and for that he deserves a lot more acknowledgment than this as well as support

Being in IT, there is rarely something I enjoy more than machine processing time on a project that I'm working on; it allows me to let my mind wander and fully immerse myself into your adventures, Jon. What a great trip this was, even though it took me 4 sessions to make it through. Catching the pike was a highlight for me, but the morning of day 8 and the trio of wolves tied for the top spot events. Wolf #3 definitely had a "Stranger Danger" moment when it sensed you. I envy your ability to catch nature in all its glory. I don't have the eye, nor the right equipment, but you and Xander, and some others on YT, have inspired me to get myself a nice camera to try my hand at capturing moments as beautifully as you all do. Thanks for taking us along!! Cheers!

Sounds to me like you have the right attitude about it though. Don't need to walk around afraid, but keeping aware and exercising reasonable caution. Still loving your mix of beautiful cinematography, storytelling, and knowledge sharing 😊.

Echoing some previous comments, you are a superb videographer and storyteller. I so appreciate you being your authentic self including your sense of awe and respect as well as your sense of humour. I love wolves. Thrilled for you for the blessing of your experience and the bonus of being able to share it. I have been fortunate to have been privileged with a few sightings in Prince Albert National Park, nothing nearly as intimate as yours. I find their howl to be primal. After an evening of being serenaded by them while out solo camping, even knowing they are typically harmless, I , too, have slept with the axe nearby. Aren’t we lucky to be able be in such mildly uncomfortable situations on occasions. Thank you so much!

That was a social call, a deliberate appearance for your benefit. They had already smelled you for days. If they regarded you as a threat one of the pack would have circled around without you knowing it. When the alpha stepped out and eyed you briefly I knew it was to let you know they accepted your presence in *their* territory-for now. Very definitely a Farley Mowat moment.

I carry bear spray out here in BC in the winter. Chances of needing it are maybe crazy slim, but it'll stop a desperate wolf or cougar just as well and they dont hibernate. having it on me could save my life and it is proven to work well below freezing still having said that, what an absolutely amazing encounter. I hear them howling all the time when Im out and see some huge tracks but never do i see them. not like that. Truly majestic.
Jon, your journey's truly are the best. among other things, what sets you apart from other you tube bush campers is the time you spend focusing on nature and soaking up the atmosphere. not just filming camping chores and cooking. Love that too but your videos are so much more complete and literally fulfilling. Im sure you hear everyone say you are the best, and its true. :) now we just need to get you back in your canoe . :)

I live in a small town in the black country, UK. Surrounded by concrete and industry.
Thank you for taking me along with you on these epic journeys!
One of my favourite videos in a long while, as for the wolves.....WOW.....

Your eye for the tiniest details, the delicate beauty of the natural world...very enjoyable. Happy chickadees and nuthatches, reading the tracks in the snow, the moods of the north country. So much good stuff in this video...I'll be watching it over and over. Your videos have become my 6 month old grandson's favorite thing for settling into naptime!

Man there is nothing to say short of amazing!!! Funny that I am on down time due to a torn meniscus and waiting for surgery on May 2nd. You transported me from my house in south Louisiana to one of the most beautiful place. Your photography is awesome. I felt as though i was on the trip with you. The fishing catch and cook was awesome. You had me a little nervous when you were on the ice that was cracking. You had me in such a tranquil place. Thank you so much man for the experience. I wait on your next video. God bless you and your family. And as always safe travels.

Thank you my friend! I was in the exact same boat this time last year. You've likely had it recommended many times, as I had, but the Knees Over Toes program seems to be the way to go. My knee is feeling great these days (most days) and I have no cartilage left in that knee after the surgery (it was too torn to be repaired). Walking backwards can be a great start. Stationary bike has also been good

What an incredible experience to see the pack like that! I believe that we generally won't see wolves unless they allow it. They can smell us and hear us from far away. Of course they are very smart and curious. What an experience!! 😍 Thank you for sharing another adventure! 💜

Just watched the last 25 minutes of this fantastic adventure video! Bravo. The Wolves are freaking amazing and you did a fine job focusing in on them and sharing your excitement. The wolf remains an icon of wilderness. Thank you for all the effort that went into this video. It was kind of a rollercoaster of weather and trails...but you survived and thrived. Brilliant work.

Nice Video. I love what you said about being the coziest man alive. I felt the way you felt many times. Love the Temress gloves. those are the best out there. I couple that with a pair of Possum down liners from Enlightened Equipment.
Looks like you can beef up your harness. Mine came from an Army -Navy store and goes over the shoulders and around the waist. No more arm strain.
Love that tent. What kind? I have a Tigris Hammock hot tent.

Every minute of this video was incredible. Sounds of nature that gave way to the close encounter of the snow hare, otter to the pack of wolves. Oscar winning video ❤. Thank you for this opportunity from a armchair on a cold NW IA winters night.

What a phenomenal trip! Some of the most beautiful shots you’ve ever taken in this video. I know it feels like winter is ending early, but I couldn’t help but think it kind of feels like you’ve made it past the injury now. It was one thing to tackle a few trips in the canoe post surgery, but to conquer the next winter after injury… just felt like the official end to that chapter. It will impact you the rest of your life, but not quite like it did this last year both physically and psychologically. Well done, man. Well done. A toast to you with a glass of Talisker in hand!

This is truly an incredible documentary. Your filming, expression, presentation style is interesting, informative, humorous, and full of the natural wonderment of nature that we all have found in watching this Incredible Journey. Perhaps the Wolves found the trout, trailed you giving honor. As you mentioned they understand Power, yes, as we do. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, for listening to your inner voice. There are no accidents in life; chance and destiny collide to provide what YOU WILL. You are an Explorer. Good on ya!
