Loved Gram Parsons. What a great tribute to him that such a successful artist has covered his songs and celebrated this founder of “Americana”. He and Emmylou were great together. Bravo Dwight. Makes me love you more.
The wife and I went to Monmouth in Wales last week to see Albert Lee in concert (Albert has played with Eric Clapton and the Everly's) He said he was going to do a Gram Parsons song, this was it. wonderful.
I don't see the Marijuana, etc.on the suit like grams I an low vision but when I zoom,I don't see everything gram has on his suit. But very thankful Dwight honored Gram
Dwight has graced nearly any cover he's ever attempted and made them better in ways. From Lefty to Elvis to Buck to Emmylou. He is in that lineage of unforgettable talent and a true scholar of this and so many other genres.
Thank-you, Mr. Yoakam. You got it, and you do Gram Parsons justice. Please come out east sometime, the Towne Crier Beacon NY. I think that Phil would really like to have you there. Anyway, thanks a a lot. Dan Berendt
I want this song played at my funeral. I dreamed I was reunited with Brandy and she met me at the gates of Heaven and in my dream I saw Gram just a few feet from us singing Love Hurts.
I am huge fan of both Dwight and Gram (actually probably my top two of all time) so I couldn't possibly compare...they are both extremely special and talented artists...,,if I had a serious bucket list...a date with Dwight wld be at number 1..probably best I'm not serious bout the list...given the odds of it happening.
I agree entirely .. and I've got Dwight doing this song on that great album 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken Vol 3" .. he does a fantastic job .. the production mix on that version is awesome ...
In my opinion, when an artist covers a song, I think it comes out better when the person DOESN'T try to sound like the original artist. I like to hear a singer 'bring it' and 'own' the song. When listening to a cover version, please listen for the integrity and emotion, which Dwight never fails to deliver.
I wish SOMEBODY would re-upload this video which GLITCHES right in the middle of an AWESOME B-Bender solo by Keith Gattis. No excuse for that - the song is too good ...
@superfluppy1 .....Keith Gattis has been playing with Dwight this summer. Have to agree that he about the itch......maybe that's where his B-bender is attached......
As this is a tribute to Gram, I think all the naysayers should just STFU!!! Dwight is special in his own way and Gram was very special in his own way. I love them both.
I don't really understand why this would be disrespectful to anyone or anything? It's a piece of music that anyone can sing/play/perform to their liking. If for some reason you don't like the emotion it arises in you it's no ones fault. If you like some other version better that's great but why to bash something you don't like since you can stick to the one you like and listen to that. In my opinion it rolled nicely as whole, the singer was a bit too much all over the place to my liking, maybe he's listening Mariah Carey too much. Both lead and background singer have great voices and the el-guitar guy was awesome! He pretty much proved he can do a job of a lap steelist with a telecaster and I guess quite thin set of strings.
Dwight is great and always has a great band.... this doesn't compare to the Burrito Brothers.... no Sneaky Pete or Chris Ethridge the guys who added the unique drive to the great songwriting of the Burrito's.
Escept that Gram couldn't sing as great as Dwight Yoakam,God rest his soul. However,Gram could write like few others and him as well as Chris Hilllman are right up there with Jagger-Richards as well as McCartney-Lennon in terms of elite songwriting duos in my opinion.
Sorry, but very few people other than die hard Gram Parsons and Flying Burrito Brothers fans would agree with you,but it is your opinion that you're entitled to.
Kieth Gattis... is a great lead guitarist. ..but I think Dwight replaced him because when Kieth performs he acts like he's got a terrible itch on his balls but can't scratch at the time....lmao!!....seriously.
Man, they butchered all the emotion of the song for their own egos. His vocals are inappropriate and the guitar solo didn't even bother with the original melody with the tremolo and I think he actually screwed up at the end. Such a great song at a tribute should be performed properly and any additions should be kept to a minimum because ppl don't want to hear your version .
Don't get me wrong, I like DY, but he is way over singing the song. He's being a bit disrespectful with the liberties he's taking vocally and that guitarists solo was shit (great tone tho). Of course, I'm one who thinks Gram is one of the best to ever write a song, so take that for what its worth.

ANY Artist that pays tribute to Gram Parsons is going to sing their ass off!Great job brother DY
I don't see the Marijuana, etc.on the suit like grams I an low vision but when I zoom,I don't see everything gram has on his suit. But very thankful Dwight honored Gram
its good to see someone pay tribute to a legend that not to many people have heard about
I love what ever Dwight sings! He is absolutely THE BEST! Love love love this man!
Dwight does everything in his own style ,that's why he is so popular. Love him to the moon and back.
Too much vibrato, too much lilt, too slow, sounds like an anti Gram, basically like all modern country- crappy.
@@andygossard4293 Sucks to be you....
Nobody and i mean nobody shift's gears like Dwight. He covers all genres of music masterfully.. Check out his Under the Covers 1997..

Dwight always puts his own interpretation on songs and this one sounds great. Love his twang. Thanks for the video.

Awesome song and awesome singer. Dwight Yoakam ❤️
Dwight Yoakam great singer and best since 1986
Thank-you, Mr. Yoakam. You got it, and you do Gram Parsons justice. Please come out east sometime, the Towne Crier Beacon NY. I think that Phil would really like to have you there. Anyway, thanks a a lot. Dan Berendt

Well said,Tina, and I agree 100%.Dwight pays homage to Gram Parsons and yet stands out on his own unique merit at the same time.
Thanks for uploading this! He just gets better and better. Dwight's like a long, cool drink.
The Flying Burrito's original can't be beaten.
That’s a fact!
Great song, thanks Chris & Gram for all the good music !!
Best version IMO...Emmylou Harris and Seldom Scene.
Pretty simple Dwight does the best of every song. Love you Dwight always will ❤️🎸🎼❤️
My god that is the best upright bass tone I’ve ever heard in a live setting - jazz included, Pederson,
Its Dave Roe.
I agree entirely .. and I've got Dwight doing this song on that great album 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken Vol 3" .. he does a fantastic job .. the production mix on that version is awesome ...
Love Dwight I listen to him everyday 💕💕💕💕
The divine and sublime Dwight almighty Yoakam,I adore him.
The B-Bender sounds great!
Who is the guitar player?
nice tribute, Dwight! GP RIP.
So frickin good. The song and this version. Dwight and the Band 🔔🔔🔔

i think dwight may be the last to incorporate that sad lonesome twang to the music
And the lead player is wearing a "Sweet heart of the rodeo" shirt. How Fucking sweet!
Who's better than Dwight Yoakum? Absolutely nobody
I wish SOMEBODY would re-upload this video which GLITCHES right in the middle of an AWESOME B-Bender solo by Keith Gattis. No excuse for that - the song is too good ...
Got stage passes to Marty Stewart and got to hold (Clarence)
wow❤@@PaulDeBoer-xj9lt
Are you the real Dwight yoakam are you the imposter that asked for $500 in gift
Here I am a year later ... Still wishing - Someone? Anyone ?
Here !❤ I only knew about those song from planes, trains and automobiles. Rip John candy
And Keith Gattis. Almost Alone.
South Dakota.
Just u and him. Awesome
GREAT SUIT! GREAT SINGER!
Bad suit doesn’t have the mushroom spores on it like Gram’s original Nudie suit
The B Bender sounds GREAT!
Great song, thanks.
Who is the guitar player with the "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" T-Shirt, playing the B string bender.
Whooo Hoooo! I also have this on Nitty Gritty Dirt Band vol 3 or 4(??)
Thank you x2009 so very much for posting this great vid!
But understand that I love both Gram and Dwight... and no one can make Gram songs like Gram, and no one can make Dwight songs like Dwight,,,
Nice suit Dwight. Look might handsome
mighty handsome
Gram-esque
you gotta love the B bender!
Good guitar player but looked like he was dislocating his shoulder with the B bender!
@@davidshakespeare9529 that is Keith Gattis..a true bad ass on guitar..that display was nothing compared to what his capabilities are.
@superfluppy1 .....Keith Gattis has been playing with Dwight this summer. Have to agree that he about the itch......maybe that's where his B-bender is attached......
i love
Truly a person of good character!
As this is a tribute to Gram, I think all the naysayers should just STFU!!! Dwight is special in his own way and Gram was very special in his own way. I love them both.
You didn't piss me off because I agree 100%.I would listen to either Dwight Yoakam or Emmlou Harris' version before the original for sure.
The lead player has a 'Sweetheart of the Rodeo" Shirt...Sweet!
Dwight took Gram into the 90\s, problem now is that we have no Gram and no Dwight....
i would really like to hear dwight and the band play wild horses
LOVE it
excelente!!!! ;)
That Tele player is a hoss. Who is he? Keith Gattis? He overplays, but what the hell.
Awesome!!

Not to mention that he played all over his vocal line...a Nashville NONO..
Great, just like Clarence White, samen style.
The guitar player should see someone about that nervous disorder.
I have no idea who he is. He isn't Dwight's regular guitar player.
?

Country picking is so basic and slow compared to bluegrass. Once upon a time I thought otherwise.

How I WISH - SOMEONE would repost this song without the GLITCH in the tremendous B-Bender Guitar solo. What a waste ...
Asking for $500 in gift cards
Straight up butchered it.
Melodramatic mistreatment of a great song by a lesser interpreter.

I love Dwight Yoakam but have to agree. Gram had a great knack to get the best out of every song he sang. Therefore best to follow his path.
Not worth a lot in my book. Dwight is the best and always does great covers .
Guitar solo shit that's how you play a country Telecaster with attitude I'll like to see you try it.
