The song Sin City was written by Gram Parsons & Chris Hillman. Dwight and kd recorded it for Dwight's album Looking For A Hit.

I'm a huge fan of hers . Her music got me through some tough times. Her country albums are awesome. Shadow land is one of my favorites. Also torch and twang. Let's not forget angel with a lariat . All three are timeless.

Whenever k.d. lang does a duet with someone, she never tries to outshine them. This was a great duet with Dwight Yoakam.
And then proceeds to completely outshine them but to be fair she cant help it
she can sing a variety of music.

@@AnthonyBurrito1313she chose not to record Crying solo, out of respect for the duet she did with Roy, but also I am sure because she had to know she would have received accolades for her performance if she had, and I think she felt the duet was a gift from Roy. She didn’t want to take attention away from his version, or the duet. I feel k.d. Is a very decent human being, no ego, very considerate. Having watched videos of her mother, who seemed so kind and caring, Audrey Lang certainly taught her exceptionally talented daughter how to be respectful.

Her ability to blend her INSANELY powerful voice to perfection when she sings harmony cannot be overstated as EPIC. Harmonizing is like being a good lover. It's all about being present while giving yourself fully to the one taking the lead.

Well said. I noticed how her mic technique varied from when she sang lead to when she was harmonizing, which showed how much quieter she was was with the harmony. Also how focussed she was on Dwight. A real class act.

...kd lang's voice DID stop me in my tracks when I heard this video for the very first time. I heard her first few notes and my head whipped around to the youtube - and the rest is history. Ive heard some of her work, and have enjoyed it - and I really like Dwight Yokam.... but this song started a whole new appreciation within me. Thank you, artists all, for sharing your beauty and your gifts with us all.💜💙🙏

Hearing Dwight sing a Graham Parsons song just made 2020 a bit more bearable.

@@margaretross9150 2021 gas been pretty piss-poor, too....but, thanks, Margaret! That's a really cool "Hillman insight" because he was the voice of sanity/reason around Gram... There's even the old tale of Gram being too pissed to stand up at a Stone's Rec recording session and Chris Hillman came to pick him up to go work with the Byrds or Burritos, but Mick Jagger had to slap/talk some sense into him.

@@briankelly5432 According to a book on kd, it was originally going to be performed at Buffalo Tavern in Red Deer, where kd used to hang out with friends. However, it was too run down so they filmed the special in Quality Inn, just down the road. It was filmed in 1989.

Dwight would love that bar. Too much of everything down there though Well no parking For the gang and the load out . Working mans bar Big. Low and slow. Around 17 yrs old we played shuffleboard and watched the World Series there. The Rock bar. The Windsor was half a block away. Too awesome. Wished I'd a caught Dwight and KD. I've always said that it's not KD's rang or pitch or 'technically perfect' voice that makes her great, it's the feeling and soul that she delivers that makes her great.
But what about when she has all of them--range, pitch, technically perfect voice and feeling and soul? She's the real deal, the absolute package.

If you think Nashville rejected KD Lang, you're badly warped. KD stuck her homosexuality into the faces of the fans and said, take it or leave it. At that point in time, people left it. Nashville goes where the money is. They didn't reject her. The fans did. Their loss, but put the blame where it lies. And KD owns a part of the blame. If she wanted to be there, she could have softened her approach but that wasn't the way she wanted to do it. You may not be old enough to remember it.

She wasn't out .. to the public.. she created a personality for her music, her gigs and interviews.. but she didn't 'stick her homosexuality' in her music, her interviews, her VOICE, nowhere.
