The very last concert i did at that venue. I met and hung with keef at the hilton. The stories he told me are not fit for youtube. I wont tell themwith total respect.
I really think Emmylou & Chris Hillman should be there, but I love Lucinda, Dwight, especially love Kieth and Wild Horses, love Nora, Steve Jim, and all the great singers, what a great tribute to the one and only Gram Parsons ❤
I've owned this DVD for some years and I really love it. I was reading some of the comments made by nitpickers. and it makes me laugh. Particularly the guy the who said Keith Richards just showed up. He obviously has no clue of the fight and help this wonderful man had to get to be there. Did you know that every woman from performers to secretaries received a dozen roses from Keith just for honoring his o!d friend?

We've got a music show called Rockwiz here in Australia. For anyone interested search for the version of Ooh Las Vegas Sarah Lee Guthrie, Chris Wilson and Johnny Irion performed on the show. It was awesome.
Thanks so much for posting this, super fun. One correction, this show took place on July 10th 2004, not November 15th. The first show was at the Santa Barbara Bowl the day before.
Dwight Yoakam and his band set the standard for me for interpretation, lighting it up and class. Talk about B bender heaven ,,,, I will leave it to the audience reaction to sum it up.
No failure.....Pure Brilliance at its finest.....Grahm would of been thoroughly impressed by Yoakam and how he flat out rocked up his song.....what sends this cover over the top was Keith Gattis and his pure domination of the B-Bender......Phenomenal!!!!!
The only thing I don't hear is the scratches on my LP Records. RIP - Gram Parsons Does anyone remember of the pizza restaurant on NorthGate in College Station TX (AGGIELAND) in the 80-90's? It always made me think of "The Flying Burrito Brothers"!!!!!
How in the world can you have anything to do with Gram and not include Emma Lou and Chris Hillman. These were the two that were probably the most closely related to Gram.
Emmy had a concert in New York that day. Stfu. Not only she was she my ex, we loved gram. I went. She couldn't. I met keef. We got shit faced with Norah Jones, who is ravi Shankar daughter. You can live that experience through me only on youtubeironic the pik here are keef and Norah Jones. They hung out with me. I didn't hang out. I made out with Norah. I was too drunk to hold my part of the bargain up. Damn alcohol ...
very nicely done.. it’s a Emmy Lou Harris , sneaky Pete weren’t there. I would have to question the taste from this having flames in the background, since he was set on fire with gasoline by his friend Val in the coffin. He left the BYRDS just said just as he taught them. All of his country and folk songs Fired from the band because he refused tour in South Africa. had a big record. Then put together the burrito Brothers, but instead of up playing Woodstock. a train trip across the country, taking so many drugs and alcohol. They were rusty when the shows came around.. He could’ve done so much more
Wow! Thank you so much! I've been looking for this performance of Kathleen Edwards and John Doe for so long! What a great show! Thank you for sharing this tribute to Gram and for the trouble of re-uploaded it!
Actually, stayed at the Chateau in France where they recorded Exile on Main Street...with Keith and Bobby Keys, everyone else came and went to record, but those three wrote the bulk of the songs... In Klaus Barbie's house ...very bad vibes in that place, but the music they wrote there. Well, it's amazing..
She did a project honouring Gram in 1999 called Return of the Grievous Angel: A Tribute to Gram Parsons. As far as I know Emmylou and Polly are on good terms.
Realy frustrated. I am a 73 year old Brit with hearing problems as a result of playing in rock bands for 50 years. Have always loved Gram Parsons. THIS VID HAS NO SUBTITLES!
This is the music that British Badgers sing to their sweet cubs at bedtime. Quite right too! May HS2 and other stupid Stasi City dude government ideas sink into the Grimpen Mire!!!!!!!
I saw the Santa Barbara County Bowl version the night before... marvelous... everyone! And a special shout out to my musical crush Kristin Mooney killing the backup vocals!
Gram Parsons and Keith Richards were very close friends during the last few years of Gram's life. Keith always loved Country Music, but Gram taught Keith more about it than Keith ever knew. I'm sort of suspicious that Gram actually wrote "Wild Horses," (with Keith's help), although it was credited to Jagger/Richards.
I’ve heard this before. Gram was so complimented that he was happy to give it to The Stones, didn’t care about the origin. I think that is probably true. He wasn’t in it for the money, as he was already , you know, rich. He did this only for the music and his own enjoyment. I’ve enjoyed all of the contributions on his album .
Good but the other tribute to Gram Parsons tops this one... Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Steve Earle, Chris Hilman, Ryan Adams and a host of others totally awesome .
Well, he never liked the terminology “country rock” to describe his music and preferred everything from “white gospel” to “cosmic American music.” He felt “country rock” was redundant as “country” is part of the amalgamation that makes rock.
Keith Richards owes a whole lot to Gram. He thanked him by introducing him to heroin or feeding his habit depends who you believe but in any event Richards was not good for him but Gram was a big factor in his guitar playing.
@@martyconroy3786 That's just straight bullshit, dude. Gram Parsons was many things, but a prolific songwriter he was not. He had enormous trouble even coming up with two or three tracks on any record he was on. I don't know or care who fed you this story but it is complete nonsense.
@antoniodelrey164 WTF makes you say that Parsons influenced Richards' playing? That's just dumb. I guess you're assumption is that any trace of country music influence in Keith RIchards or the Stones just HAD to come from Parsons and nowhere else, because, you know, Keef and Gram spent a couple months in the south of France shooting up heroin together.
@@chuckschillingvideos you must be a drunkard like your idol Keith was. Read and learn if you can read…he taught him more than I’m willing to waste my time with you on. Read his autobiography if you can read…what an idiot you are to call him Keef! He hates that name but you don’t know that either!
Great show. I had to laugh watching Keith sing Love Hurts with Norah Jones. Kudos to Norah for staying on key with Keith singing so incredibly out of tune.

That's beautiful. In his biography Keith called Gram very, very special.
A great duet, Keith Richards and Nora Jones! Who would have guessed? LOL!
Sure glad they got Al Perkins for this gig. And a good drummer 🥁
Keef's singing is really good! He and Nora were a great match!
