Michael, You are the sweetest guy on RUclips. Love your videos. I like your relaxed and informative style. I almost want to get on a plane and drop in on L.A. I was last there in 1970, yikes. OMG, you deserve an award for climbing those stairs.
Can totally agree- as someone from NJ on the outskirts of NYC- I loved visiting Silver Lake when I lived in LA- felt like a mix of NYC and LA combined.
Can't believe I missed this video!!! Silver Lake is one of my favorite Jackson Brown songs. Don't know about the comparison to sheep meadow but I do love the shops and walkability score. Love the stair streets and would definitely have climbed them too.🍎💚💯
I moved here to LA (right by silver lake actually hehe) back in May and I've been watching your videos a couple months PRIOR to moving bc they gave me insight on what to expect, and I really hope I see you out vlogging one day so I can give you a big thank you lol
Silver Lake is cool, but I prefer the Eagle Rock/Highland Park area as my hipster destination. It's getting a bit too gentrified, but it still has a really cool vibe. Perhaps Portland is a good comparison.
Longer video on West Hollywood please :) Loving your content so far and been conflicted between Culver City (based on your recommendation) and West Hollywood now.
West Hollywood..yes Michael please! After 30 years we are determined to move back to Calif, just figuring out how to make it happen . Michael your videos help so much - thanks!
@@larguello1 100%. @Michael nobody else on RUclips is keeping it real like you. Your channel is a gem for getting a genuine "feel" for how things are in LA. Been binging every video :)
I like your videos..Informative and funny ... Your videos have very good aerial views. Do you have a drone ? If not, where do you find these aerial views?
Thank you for fact finding and resorcing information. Yeah... In the late 60's early 70's. As outer suburbs in LA looked more appealing. People started moving. Just like other cities. ie.. Dupont Circle, French Quarter, Castro District, Downtown Palm Springs, Greenwich Village. This new bohemian artsy enclave moved in. It was predominantly gay men. In the early 80's, silver Lake was destined to be LA's gay community. But by 1983. The unincorporated area of LA west, became West Hollywood (WeHo). Taking the title of gay district LA. In the early days, WeHo had more gay business. With Silverlake still having more gay residents.
Sunset Junction is NOT the heart of Silverlake. Its a border area that's the most crap area of silverlake that's Slake on one side and Hollywood on the other and gets the spill over from crap Echo Park. And the Music Box stair are technically part of E. Hollywood and the freaking pedestrian stairs which not hidden, but very common in that hilly area are NOT connected with the gay rights movement! They were there when there weren't so many streets in the area so people could quickly get to the Red Car lines.
I think people would appreciate Los Angeles more if they stopped comparing it to New York City and vice versa. It’s like comparing apples and oranges.
As a resident of LA who doesn't get outside enough, your channel gives me ideas for new places to explore!

I grew up there in Silverlake, you did it justice. Thanks.

And yes sir there is a HUGE park!! It’s called Griffith Park it’s beautiful
Random fact: Silversun pickups (the band) was named after Sunset Junction. "Silversun" being Silver Lake - Sunset. They'd go there to pickup alcohol.
O sure did enjoy it ❤❤❤!! Three hearts. More on Silver Lake please.

One of my favorites as well MICHAEL,
Nice video seeing this side of LA also we love your edit hope your well? Thank you for sharing 💙💪🏼
Any white guy that brags about a neighborhood or area being "diverse" to other white people, instantly makes me bored.
Are you a full time RUclipsr? Do you work as well can you make a video on how to afford the cost of living in LA
Part time, that’s a good idea 👍🏻
I like your videos..Informative and funny ... Your videos have very good aerial views. Do you have a drone ? If not, where do you find these aerial views?
Thanks Nevin! I’m a drone pilot so they’re mine 🙂

How bad is the crime in L.A? Have you been personally affected by it?
There were many nice neighborhoods in LA years ago. Illegal immigration turned them into crap.
Big nothing
