    I love Los Feliz. It’s definitely a quirky and creepy little town in LA. They used to do haunted tours at the murder house about 10-15 years ago. I don’t know if they still do them but it would be a really cool to experience that tour. Griffith Park is also haunted. If you look up “Hauntings at Griffith Park”, you would find a bunch of haunted stories and investigations.

    I lived in Los Feliz for 14 years. A neighbor and I would regularly walk all over. Funny about that house, we did not know the story behind it, but got creepy vibes whenever we walked by. I think we even talked to a neighbor outside of it but no mention of the murders. Didn't recognize many of the businesses you highlighted, but back in the day there were several Italian restaurants, all very good including Sarno’s Caffe Dell’Opera which was on Vermont just off of Hollywood Blvd. in 1987 the proprietor, Alberto Sarno was murdered one night in the driveway of his home on Los Feliz Blvd. I don't think they ever found out who murdered him. The police were always eating there. Across the street also on Vermont was Luigi's. Luigi shot his lover before shooting himself. He died, she lived but was hurt badly. Then one night, late 80s I think, a young girl stumbled up the walk into our courtyard and collapsed. She had been stabbed by a guy trying to rob her. I did not know she had been staying with a neighbor. Police said it was a random robbery committed by some guy who had previously robbed another and stolen their car. Legend has it that Los Feliz was cursed by the wife of Griffith J Griffith, a mining mogul who donated the land to the City of Los Angeles for Griffith Park. Griffith shot her in the eye after accusing her of conspiring with the Pope to poison him. You know, I loved living there and being able to walk to the restaurants and shops but upon writing this it seems a terrible place. It did kind of have like a noir undertone to it. Doesn't Los Feliz mean the happy ones? 🤨

    I loved the Vista theater when I lived in LA. So cool on the inside. Your videos keep getting better Michael. I'm saving to move back to California. I'm really missing it. I will certainly miss the beaches of NJ (totally different vibe than the west coast especially in the off season) and NYC but...I guess I can always visit.

      Welcome to downtown! There are three groups all squashed together: The wealthy in their ivory towers, the zombie apocalypse of homeless and the rest of us on the knife edge in between. I've lived here for twelve years exactly (Feb 14th is my tenant-versary!) It is intense. Outdoors is almost completely lawless now. Even if you live in a very nice building, you'll hear fireworks, screaming mentally ill folks, macho youths doing donuts/burnouts, loud motorcycles setting off car alarms, occasional shootings, etc. And the near-CONSTANT sirens.
      And yet, here I am. Everyday life could hardly be more convenient. I love being able to walk to food stores, department stores, Grand Central Library, Metro bus/train/subway, the cute little grassy park at FIDM which, unlike every other square foot of downtown, is not coated in smears of dog poo.

    I’m laying in bed in Los Feliz now and it is a creepy old energy filled neighborhood. Earlier this week I needed a drive through the hills to soothe my soul. I eventually ended up back in my neighborhood and decided I needed to see the Ennis house again after a few years of forgetting all about it. The Ennis house and some of the surrounding area gives me the majorest creeps. Also the hill above Hyperion over by Trader Joes always gives me weird vibes. Love this video! There is absolutely a noir undertone here. #AmericanGothic

    “Sally Menke, director Quentin Tarantino’s longtime editor on films such as “ Pulp Fiction,” “Jackie Brown” and the two-volume “Kill Bill,” was found dead early Tuesday morning by searchers in Bronson Canyon after she went hiking with her dog in the severe heat Monday, authorities said. She was 56.

    Hey Michael. If you're ever looking for video ideas, I'd be really interested in hearing your thoughts on LA coffee shops. LA-only, your usual, "must-try"s, famous or unique coffee shops. You've been great at mentioning some, but it was never the topic of a whole video.

      The original pictorial pictures sent around the world. From Los Angeles were from silver Lake looking down into the basin. At the turn of the last century. All you could see, across the landscape were groves. Groves translated into Spanish is Filez. Pronounced FEE lez. If you switch the I and E around. It has a different meaning. Otherwise, Feliz means 'happy'; like Feliz Navidad.

    I love Los Feliz, particularly all the outdoor restaurants and bars from which one can enjoy the cars passing by and the city. The houses are particularly interesting architecturally and the hills right next door to Silver Lake are beautiful. The only thing I didn't like about this video was you saying Los Feeeliz because that is just way too off from the real pronunciation, and none of my friends living there have ever said anything but Los Felííz (the accent is just to point out how much it's supposed to be emphasized). I understand that the"g" in Los Angeles is usually pronounced more like Italian than Spanish, but at least it's not Los Angeelis. I'm really not trying to be difficult about this but that detail just bugs the crap out of me.

    Feliz pronounced 'Felees'

    • @gabrielgarcia7554
      @gabrielgarcia7554 Год назад

      A lot of güeros say it that way and honestly I can’t blame them too much because even the announcer on the Metro pronounces Los Feliz incorrectly too. If he took public transit, then he probably heard it said like “Los Fellas” and thought that is how Angelenos say it. To be fair they say San Pedro like San Peedro or Los Ángeles like Laws Anj-uh-lus so I can’t blame him too much for thinking Los Feliz was similar. Although my god it hurts my ears every time he says it like that haha.
