      They have a really solid dynamic and I agree. He could easily have his own Podcast and I'm sure he saw enough in his time as a LEO to make it interesting. He's thoughtful, articulate, and reasonable. Both Andy and Suresh have a perspective that encourages entertaining dialogue. I can see Suresh being a great interviewer.

    Now I see how this episode went on for over 4 hours. Mr. Manhaven is an excellent storyteller. You started off with a couple questions and he took it from there, hardly ever deviating from the story of his life. I feel like he thoroughly prepared for this. So many interesting details. We haven't even gotten to his Law Enforcement career yet. Then there is what he is currently up to. I'm excite for part 2! Thank you Andy!!

  • @antcan25
    @antcan25 4 года назад +5

    Suresh Manhaven kudos brotha! I'm a retired police officer and an Army veteran. Those videos of officers getting shot by people walking away always have a tactical gap that the officers miss (i.e. you need close space and apply blunt force trauma, or prepare for deadly force). Maybe I'm jaded, but on a 2am traffic stop you better be mentally ready to clear that holster! Kudos to you Suresh!

    Thanks for having him on! 25 years on the job and He expresses what we are all feeling right now in LE. Everyone wants a better trained officer but they don't want to pay for it....in fact when budgets are cut (not by politicians) the first thing they cut is training. Can't wait for part 2.

    • @negativeionz

      I don't think people even really think this shit through @Juan Barrientes. They're reactionary and emotional with no long-term thinking about anything in the majority of cases. If the facts were laid out clearly in front of them of what would happen by a neutral expert, and it was gonna happen in their neighborhood, I think you'd find their politics as mercurial as their emotions. Thank you by the way. It's a hard fuckin' job and we've created an atmosphere where not many of the best candidates will want to do it.

    There are so many clips of this podcast that really need to be out there for people to hear. The reason I say this is because there are so many that will not slow down long enough to listen to the entire thing. So many thing's was I been saying for along time on here. I am not surprised we got to this point in time. So many things have not been addressed... Thing's have just been brushed to the side and not confronted head on. Also in this day when people cant sit down and compromise to get to a medium. To many has to have it "their" way and only their way. People have gotten soft too soft. And if this is not solved it WILL only get worse. It's a sad sad time and it sure dont need to be. Thank you for your time on this podcast and for your service.

    A lot of good points have been made in the video. Looking forward to the following episode(s). Seems like a good person/man that I would want as a partner. He seems very levelheaded to me. You’re doing good work. Keep rolling. Andy, I enjoy your content, and feel that you’re doing good stuff with getting interviews with people of different ethnicities. Considering everything that’s going on, it’s important to see and ear different sides of things. Forget the naysayers. No one can say something without pissing someone off. People upset with your content need to go pound sand. You, Joe, Mike, and a number of other podcasters do a damn good job of maintaining a concept of objective reasoning. It shows, and is liked by many. Love the show. -Jarrod-

Now we get to watch operators talk to other operators the way I grew up seeing that nobody else even knew about or understood. It's surreal. But the conversations are great. The guests are amazing. Andy is stellar at what he does. I believe this Podcast could aggressively grow in viewership quite easily. If more people knew about this, a lot more would watch it.

    • @negativeionz
      @negativeionz 3 года назад +1

      Well not all police critics are equal. Some are former special operations/military/PMCs, etc. and see the cracks in the system more evenhandedly. But typically their criticisms are of the really bad officers doing really bad things only and the lack of training/funding. I had a buddy get out of Scout Snipers where he ran security for his unit which had a pretty high kill count. He applied for DC PD and they really liked him, wanted to recruit him, and were taking him aside to tell him all his errors in interviewing to get him onboard ASAP. They saw him as "white" and began openly talking about their racism towards black Americans like he would understand. He withdrew his application for consideration and refused to apply to another precinct, having been already well-aware of racism in policing beforehand and having his taste in the industry so soured by the precinct leadership at our Nation's Capital.

      I'm the product of being a "millennial", raised by "boomers", and having my cousins, aunt's, uncle's, brothers, and sisters being "Gen-X'ers"
      My belief system was always. "Oh, that's what you believe, that's what you define yourself as, that's what you want?" I may disagree, but so long as you aren't hurting anyone else, I have no issues with it...
      I thought that things would get better as the left took more control but it's gone in the opposite direction. Now you are DEFINED by your race, religion, sexuality, and gender. Now you HAVE to vote/think/ behave a certain way if you have ANY defining characteristics...

    go outside the box and bring in Ice Cube, Snoop Dog or George Lopez or an Indigenous Native on the level of Russell Means (figuratively speaking) for an interview...I'm sure gerrymandering would be the common denominator and a different perspective.

    I have a right to speak on this subject and I can easily say the caliber of officer has fallen significantly and that fact gets ignored because of the "walk a day in my shoes" excuse. Point being the problem is multi-faceted and I don't see it getting fixed honestly. The problem is just too big and were not fixing 1 part if it much less all of em.
