  • Remi Adeleke was born in Western Africa and moved to New York City with his mother and brother following the death of his father. In 2002 he joined the U.S. Navy, ultimately completing the grueling training to become a member of the select U.S. Navy SEALs. Since completing his military service, Remi has had successful careers in writing, speaking, and films. He appeared in the 2017 franchise film Transformers: The Last Knight, and served as the lead technical advisor on the Netflix production 6 Underground. Remi also partners with City Hope in La Mesa, California, where he mentors at-risk and inner-city youth.

      Absolutely! His mom's an amazing woman! And there are so many single mothers out there across the country who are incredible human beings.
      But how about that female recruiter? That's such an incredible story how she saw something in Remi and went out of her way to help him and went before not one but TWO judges to help him get his record expunged,get the warrants against him dropped and to get him into the Navy.It's a good thing that Remi is working in film because the dude's life and backstory reads like the plot for a movie!

    I got way too excited when Remi started referencing the production on a story about Harriet Jacobs. I read her biography, “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl” 15 years ago and wondered how no one had made a movie about her life. Her story is pretty amazing. I look forward to seeing this come to life on the screen. Normally, I would be leery of adaptations of books-turned-movies, but I’m hoping you do it justice. 😁

      @JR-ju3kj 4 года назад +5

      @@charliemike13 Agreed,she helped give him another chance.And when the poster said that Remi was a drug dealer,a thief and a white collar criminal,let's be brutally honest here,the military has saved so MANY people from going to prison and has given so many people a chance to start fresh, that it's not even funny. As Jocko said on his podcast to former SEAL Mike Day(who survived being shot 27 times in combat) when Day said that if it weren't for the Navy he probably would have been in MS-13,there's a bunch of guys who joined the Navy(and the other Service branches),who if it weren't for the military giving them that chance,they would have been in criminal activity-selling drugs or in a street gang or a Biker gang or in prison or dead because of living that criminal life.
      Remi has an amazing and inspirational story-it's an inspirational story to people,IN GENERAL but specifically,I hope it can help motivate,influence and inspire young people in inner city neighborhoods across America.He's showing them that it's not too late turn things around and get on the right track and he's showing them that they can rewrite their history,which as one former SEAL John Allen said that joining the military did for him. Obviously,if you have a criminal record and depending on what the nature of the crime is,it's pretty unlikely that you'll get in and not everyone will have an amazing recruiter that goes out of their way and above and beyond their job to help you like what Remi had with the female recruiter who changed his life but I agree with former Marine Nate Fick that a lot of people can benefit from giving the military a shot.

    This is a brilliant episode ! I already knew Remi was awesome, and this takes it to another level. There is such a rapport between you two, and so much pure joy at times - it's great how you both just laugh out loud ! There are some really deep issues, discussed in a very mature way, and overall I found it to be truly uplifting. Immediately one of my favourite episodes, and thank you both for that

    Remi, please do a full auto. And keep on doing it, it’s great

      I was being a smart ass.. Nigerian Americans (new arrivals) are one of the most successful sub groups ...by race... in the entire country. All because of hard work. There is a whole movement going on right now say that because of the color of their skin they can’t be successful .

    Inspirational story. I heard him on Ritlands podcast a year ago but he didn’t go in depth on the story about his father, what an incredible story his father has, and I’m sure that’s just the abbreviated version or at least the version he knows. I’m sure there’s so much more to his dads story coming up that we’ll never know about.
