    • @RMMomma4Eva
      @RMMomma4Eva Месяц назад

      This thinking is probably what the woman has engaged in except for the college money not being lost so not factoring in to her reasoning.
      Because why indeed should she give up guaranteed benefits to get married. Especially military widows' benefits after all she's been through with her family being in the military. And since she's been married before and knows that most marriages either end in divorce or don't work out and the spouses are miserable. To marry a guy who's 10 years younger, with all of her obligations, who also currently makes a lower than average salary.
      No, she just lied to dude to spare his feelings and keep him around. She might respect and enjoy him immensely. But for financial reasons has no intention of marrying him right now. Because it wouldn't make sense.
      Maybe she will reconsider if his earning capacity significantly increases. But why would he want to put his life on hold. Why would he shack up for years and also not have kids since this lady is almost too old now to have any more.
      No, if he can't quickly secure a much higher salary somehow, he's too young to get saddled with this situation and needs to move on. They're incompatible.

      Then she shouldn't string the guy along. Sounds like he wants to marry her, but she keeps saying, no I'll lose the money. Which is fine, if she is seeing that as security that's her right But she and boy toy here need to be on the same page and eh needs to see that they can get married, but she doesn't feel they are in a place FINANCIALLY where they can keep up their lifestyle without her widow's benefits. And in the 10+ years it will take before the youngest is out of school and potentially in high school, they coudl work on things. But this guy needs to look at it as a roommate situation because they are, in the eyes of the law and governments, roommates if they are living together and he should not be trying to put their monies together. That sounds like what he was actually calling about, how to combine their finances to work on debt repayment and wealth rebuilding, but it's nto a good idea when you are just living together becasue, as Judge Judy says, "we don't have courts for almost-marrieds, we have courts for married people. He needs to work on his debt and let her work on her debt, as single people. And when she feels stable enough or whatever, then they can get married.

Easier to be on your own schedule when you not messing up their sleep or your sleep is impacted because they got people in the house. It's too much. I disagree with Dave here. If deferring legal marriage puts the kids through college, make sure the kids are well off. Get rid of your debt and have the money to replace the lost college help before marrying. That’s the responsible thing. There’s nothing wrong with shacking up.

    I am just going to say it....I would stay unmarried. I think she is smart.

    Well, it's obvious why she doesn't want to marry him - she makes 45k without working and he makes just 35k 'on a good year', so realistically less. If they marry, they either live on 30k/yr (not realistic) or she gets a job. So she'd be significantly worse off. Not shocking that she doesn't want to marry in those circumstances.

    dude run. dont marry single moms. Dave’s still living in the 50s. Tradition doesn’t work anymore, ESPECIALLY in this situation

    Basically, she doesn’t want to get remarried because if they break up, he would go after whatever money she has. I wouldn’t marry him neither. Plus she’s his sugar mama, not his “girlfriend” so um NO! She needs to find someone on her level. We don’t know if it’s an emotional thing neither.
    If my husband passed away, I definitely wouldn’t get remarried. I wouldn’t even want to talk to anyone.

    If you adopt the kids they lose. But marrying her just makes her lose her benefits

    Or you can just not sign a paper and keep receiving great benefits for your family.
    A signed paper and a ring doesn't mean you love each other any more than before.

      Completely agree. If getting married is just going to hurt your family and add increased stress I don't see the need. Especially if it is going to make it harder to provide for the kids and get them an education.

    Marry someone else. Closer to your age and with no kids.

    Same for social security survivor benefits for the kids. They do not go away with remarriage
