I so deeply related to what James said about being self sufficient to a fault. Being an immigrant child with two busy working parents, I also grew up having to fend for myself most of the time. I also moved around so much that I taught myself to be okay with losing relationships. Now that I'm older, I'm really seeing the repurcussions of being so self reliant especially in how my dynamic is with my boyfriend. Sometimes it's good to show someone you need them. I actually heard somewhere that one of the best gifts you can give someone is the gift of making them feel needed. Let people help you. It's something I'm actively trying to do now ❤
that's so well stated! I definitely realized I can come off "colder" than I sometimes intend as a result of my hyper-independent mindset. so now I'm trying to correct back towards being more community-minded and also allowing myself to depend on sarah more sometimes :) - james
surprise!! 👻 we had to end this halloween month with a special halloween episode so please enjoy this first-time SOJU THURSDAY 🎃 hope everyone’s having a fun and safe halloween 🫶
“I didn’t wanna brag” 😭🤣 y’all are so cute, but I completely agree being on the receiving end of people cleanly distancing (removing friends on socials etc) can hurt but to be honest when I look back I slowly distanced them first because they were not the type of people I wanted to be (going out partying & drinking) just like you mentioned I’d rather be at home having good energy with my bf and focusing on work and my health! 🤍
i would actually love to hear more discussions about money, cause i have issues with it too, and hearing other people's situations/perspective is necessary to not feel like you're stuck in your particular worldview and there's no alternative.
I know exactly what your talking about with having to unlearn money spending habits. I'm 24 now and its still kind of tough for me to spend money on things even simple groceries if there isn't a discount because of the way I grew up. But I'm working on trying to unlearn it.
