    I repaired my dryer by myself for $8.99 thanks to this video! All it needed was a new belt. Once the dryer was disassembled it was easy to spot the problem, order a new belt & put the dryer back to gather again. I also did a deep cleaning & de-linting of the whole thing while it was taken apart. Dryer up & running as beautifully as always once again! Videos like these are the best thing about social media - Thank you!

    • @alext8828
      @alext8828 5 месяцев назад

      @@arturoibarra1148 I really don't know. My problem was that the heating element would shut off and it was an element that would overheat and pop. I did two things. #1 I saw in a video how to reset it by smacking it or dropping it on a tile or cement floor. Check it each time with a meter to make sure it resets.
      #2 Set the dryer for half the time you really need. I set mine for between 15 and 20. Not sure those are really minutes or what. When it shuts off, pull and clean the filter. Nothing overheats a dryer faster than lint stuck somewhere. Clean the filter and start it for the 2nd half of the cycle.
      #3 let me know how you did. I really know nothing of what goes on at the circuit board. Good luck.

I put a too heavy Costco Detergent tub on top of my dryer, it bent the top down without me knowing, that created friction with drum, therefore it would not turn. After watching your video I could take it apart and diagnose this is what had happened, thank you. The manufactures should put a sticker on these dryers not to put heavy things on top of them.

    Thanks Ken...I needed the refresher....Worked on many, semi retired now, HVAC by trade and Appliances....Did the coin ops for years too....Apartment basements, dorms, other locations...Almost identical, except they eat money....I remember the buy out and when they first mingled the Kenmore/Whirlpool dryer with the Maytag....I hated it....The washers needed improvement, I'll admit, the dryers, especially the WP, should have been left alone...In my opinion the best that ever was, but they just had to screw with it....I have worked them all, The older WP/KM, still my favorite, GE, Hotpoint, Ropers, Speed Queen, (a tank), the old Norge, remember them, what a pain....WP/KM is still easiest to service, saves the customer bucks on the time and still a money maker for the service co. and/or man, and/or woman doing the job....Have to be inclusive now a days....Just more crap, being politically correct....It's SERVICE MAN, NOT SERVICE LADY.....lol...Thanks again for the video, doing one later today and I think it's the KM Elite.

      On this style dryer, yes you can. Be sure to unplug it first though, some of those wires are live all the time inside the dryer. You can also remove the lint filter, and then remove the lint filter housing to clean it out, it has two screws, one on each side up close to the top of the housing. There also might be one screw attaching it to the face of the blower box where the blower wheel is located.
      Good Luck!

    Do the other type of end caps remove or do they rotate upward with the rest of the panel?

    We did opened up our dryer because the belt needed to be replaced, my husband and I cleaned everything inside and outside the dryer and put them back together and turned on to dry my clothes, on high cotton for 50 minutes. After the drying cycle was over the clothes out were not dry and were still damp.
    There is heat coming But not to dry the clothes 🤔😞
    Do you know what reason cases this issue?

    • @kensappliancerepair9971
      @kensappliancerepair9971  3 года назад

      If it has heat but doesnt dry, it usually means there is a blockage of the air flow, either at the blower housing, blower wheel being caked with lint, or a build up in the duct out the dryer and to the wall. It can also be blocked in the wall duct or at the outside air vent. You have to have good air flow for it to dry properly.

    I can feel a small something drop into one of the plastic fins when I spin the drum by hand. Your video reveals there are very small holes in the exterior of the drum aligned with the fin, so is tipping the drum back and forth with that fin at 6 o'clock once the drum is removed the best way to stop that noise? How could something get in there? Thanks Ken.

    • @kensappliancerepair9971
      @kensappliancerepair9971  2 года назад

      Actually, I see coins in those fins all the time. They can slide in under the edge of the fin where it meets the drum. Easiest way to fix the noise once happens is to remove the screws on the outer drum where the noise making fin is located. They hold the fin to the drum. Once removed the fin drops off and can be cleaned out, then hold the fin in place with one hand and replace the screws from the outer drum to reattach it. hope this helps!

    Apologies for commenting on such an old video, but what exactly is the yellow/red wire and green/light green ground wire that you run into when pulling the door panel off? Mine is missing the entire metal strip and spade in the inside of the of the lint trap for that yellow/red wire to connect to yet it has the wire for it

    This is a helpful and accurate video. Do you have one that shows how the light bulb socket is wired? One wire from it goes to the door switch. Where does the other wire go? (I have a machine where the second wire is missing.)

    • @kensappliancerepair9971
      @kensappliancerepair9971  4 года назад +1

      No, I dont have one that shows the wiring on the bulb socket. There should be a wiring diagram tucked inside the control panel up top, if it is still there you can get it out and use the wiring diagram to see where each wire goes. Hope this helps!

    • @stephentashiro5177
      @stephentashiro5177 4 года назад +1

      I figured it out. One wire from the light socket goes to the door switch. The other wire from the light ocket connects to a wire from the body of the dryer. You disconnect 3 wires coming from the body of the dryer at 6:50 in the video. Two of them go to the door switch. The third wire ( black with a cylindrical connector) from the body of the dryer is disconnected from a black wire that comes from the light socket. That leaves one wire from the light socket still connected to the door switch..

    Is it recommended to disassemble like this to clean inside? Or only the duct outside the unit requires cleaning?

    • @kensappliancerepair9971
      @kensappliancerepair9971  2 года назад +1

      Anywhere you have lint build up will need to be cleaned out, including inside the dryer as needed. Lint build up reduces air flow, which increases drying time and also can lead to a complete blockage, which would severely increase drying time and could cause thermal fuse to blow.

      @@kensappliancerepair9971 you were right. the insides of that dryer were full of lint. the gap between each fan blade was clogged too. and the heater tube was full with blackened lint. I don't know how it didn't catch fire. Running like new now, and only one finger needed a band-aid. Thanks so much!
