Having raised 2 very capable daughters, I know for certain your mom and dad would be very proud of how you presented things here in such a precise clear way… Thank You!!!
Thank you, Lyn, from the bottom of my heart. I mean that--truly. Both of my parents have passed, but I like to think you're right. At least, I hope so. The kindness in you must make your two daughters awfully proud. I would be. ;)
Your video was excellent and very precise. I was able to change the belt on my dryer without a hitch. Without your video I would have called a repair center. Saved me about $200 to $250. Thank you.
Thank you, Rick, for your lovely comment. I truly appreciate that you took the time to write it. Given my terminally frugal self, I am thrilled to hear my video helped you save your hard-earned money. It's so rewarding to hear that. Happy DIYing!
I simply can’t thank you enough for this video, especially the motor/pulley shots. I followed it to install a repair kit *all by myself* and I’m hoping I’ll get a few more years out of this 22yo machine! I’m so grateful!
Mr. richterdfr, thank you, sincerely, for leaving this kind comment. It's funny--you must have been reading my mind at the exact moment I was thinking about just what your comment addressed. I was thinking maybe I talk too much in my videos and tire viewers out. So, sincerely, thank you for your timely and much needed words. And, of course, thank you for your support and encouragement. Now, off to read a leaking shower valve. :)
@@frugaldiy1Hello, you definitely do not talk too much. It's like that old cop show, "just the facts ma'am". Thank you! And....how was that dryer so clean inside before you took it apart? I'm guessing it was your dryer and you perform maintenance to it?
Concise yet thorough. And every tight shot was lit and in focus. Excellent tutorial! Thanks for making this… I was able to replace the belt on mine and probably save myself a $200 service call.
mrbonks 130, thank you for taking the time to write such a nice comment. It means a lot to me. It warms my DIY heart to hear my video saved you money. Happy Thanksgiving!
Well you're certainly very welcome, and thank you for your kind words. Glad to have helped. I LOVE my Kenmore 90 series dryer. They're going to have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. ;)
Its over $800 for a new dryer...I replaced the roller wheels (4), the pulley idler, belt along with motor for $150 (the motor had a noise bearing). Considering its 30yeart dryer...it can go on now for more years. Found change and lots of lint... thanks to your video, I was able to do it all.
Superb video. I've watched quite a few videos on this subject (and countless on other subjects), and this is as well explained and filmed as any I've seen. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to create such an excellent video.
This video is clear and made it so easy so we didn't have to guess. Bought this dryer December 2001 when I moved into my house and it is the only original appliance left. So happy I was able to easily replace a belt instead of buying a new one. Not only saved money but good for the environment too! Thanks again for making this video. ❤
I bought this 90 Series set with electric dryer in 1997 and have only replaced the heating element on the dryer and the motor coupler on the washer. They've run thousands of cycles with no problems. I only wish i had bought two sets, one set for when this set finally has to be replaced. Great video, thank you!!! Edit: the dryer belt broke so i bought the entire kit with belt rollers and idler...which is why i watched this video. The motor doesn't run so I'm hoping there's a sensor that told it the belt broke!
Excellent walk through with great tips. I wish I had this before I took mine apart. Also, bravo for such a clean unit. My dryer was like 90% lint inside! 😬
Thank you. I appreciate your comment. FYI--since cleaning all of the lint out of the dryer and exhaust, the dry time has reduced at least a third. Now my clothes never take more than 35-40 minutes to dry. :)
@@frugaldiy1 You're welcome! I had to revisit your video since I seemed to have replaced all the typical components *except* for the heater coil element. So glad you got good angles @ 1080p on looping the dryer belt around the motor & tension pulley. For some reason I always get stuck on that part- like it's a mind twister puzzle which took me several attempts before getting it. I also took screenshots. I'm hoping this fixes it. It turns on & will spin but there's no heat. I replaced the thermal fuses & thermistor in the first round, but that didn't fix it.
I'm sorry to hear the dryer doesn't work. It sounds like it may be the coils. I have a video for troubleshooting a gas dryer (includes testing various parts and the coils), and I think it may help you. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/OeNUChT4mzI/видео.html
Amazing video. Very helpful. Got the job done. Putting the belt around the pulley and motor was a bit tough. Everything else was very easy. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, Vir Bone. I feel the same way you do when I take on a new project I've never done before. But with patience, I know we can get through it. It's a lot of fun to learn new things. Happy DIYing!
Excellent demonstration and explanations. Thank you. My gas dryer has a loud knocking sound from the back, I think it may be the rollers. Can I also change the moisture and thermostat at the same time?
What a great video, very easy to follow. I replaced my broken belt by following your instruction but I have an issue when I start the dryer. It smell like something is burning in few seconds so I turn it off immediately. Is it normal after replacing a new belt? I already cleaned up whatever lint and dust I can find in the dryer.
Hi good afternoon have a quick question for you My belt is still intact on my dryer however when I spin the drum the belt does not move with the drum could it be because the belt has lost its grippingness? I've had the belt for about 4 years 5 years on a replaced once when I saw this video back then I appreciate your feedback Thank you -James
I don't know if it's because mine is 240 electric, or simply a design change. But the entire first step for me was not necessary. The entire top lifts off with the top panel on mine. I could've skipped to the point where she says "Remove the lint screen."

THAT is wonderful to hear, CTatCD! Thank you for telling me. This old lady is proud of you for fixing your dryer all by yourself. Respect! ;)

No, V Y, it's not normal to smell something burning when you start or use your dryer. I would not use the dryer until I locate and fixed the issue.
Thank you! This helped my Dad and me replace ours.
You're welcome!
Excellent video, very detailed and patiently explained. Very much appreciated!
Well thank you, cynthia, and you're certainly welcome. Happy DIYing! ;)
