How we get the dryer to this point

  • @nitalientz5135

I got the belt off before I could see how it was routed around idler pulley, motor pulley and drum. Belt wasn't broken but the idler was screaming! Didn't have a clue how to install the new one until you showed how to route the belt around the "invisible" drum and pull the idler pulley up. That demonstration made the job oh so easy. Thanks alot. Great video!

Thank you. Am saving your video, my 60 year old brother would not watch it however, but I did. And he has been down in my basement for over four in half hours trying to still figure out how to replace my dryer belt. God have mercy.

Thank you!! This is my fourth time changing a dryer belt but without this video and the one showing how to take the cabinet apart I could not have done this. All of the dryers have been Kenmores but this one is quite different in design than the others. Threading the belt blind was to say the least an interesting experience. I will NEVER again put a wet sneaker in the dryer. I padded everything and I thought it would be okay. It broke the belt. By the way I am 73 years old and have had back surgery so if I could do this anyone can. Thanks again for the help.

We never would have figured this out--watched how you looped the belt a couple times, practiced without the drum and then and got it on the first try! My model (Kenmore elite--an old one) did not have enough clearance on the sides to reach around ... but there was a knock-out panel on the side for access (in case anyone else has that issue). Saved us a ton of time, frustration and money, of course! Thanks so much!!

Excellent! Thank you for these videos. Thorough, but nothing extraneous, well lit, and well edited. My old and well cared for 90 series dryer stopped heating and thanks to you and a multimeter, I isolated the problem to the heating element and it's now replaced and I'm putting everything back together. Just had to watch how to reinstall the drum. Thank you so much. I do not want to buy any of today's washers and dryers.

Thanks for the video! Just replaced the belt on my Kenmore 970 dryer - $15 instead of a whole new dryer. Can't beat that.
Just an FYI for those with the same dryer as me: the drum in the 970 doesn't sit on / have rollers but instead a single ball coming off the center of the rear of the drum and you have to give it a good tug UP and the ball will pop out of its seating. And just reverse to replace, a firm push down at the rear. This had me confused because i thought the drum would just slide out.
Also, there is a removable panel to access the pulley / tensioner... which made it a whole lot simpler once the drum was back in place.
Again... thanks so much for the video. Huge help!

good job on the video! This model makes it a lot easier to work on ,the air flow box holds the drum up for you. I had a wirlpool where the drum needed a crutch or an extra set of hands, very frustrating for an every once in a while repair. after having belt and pulley issues on separate occasions, I was on a mission to make this easier and decided cut a 1x1 ft sq port hole by the motor transforming the cutout to a removable door. Later on I ran across a machine that had this factory feature.

We just finished replacing the belt on our Kenmore dryer. Your video was the key to getting the belt around the idler pulley correctly. The toughest part was getting the drum reinstalled after the belt was replaced. We found that tipping the entire machine back to about a 45 degree angle allowed us to get all the parts lined up before securing all the screws. The price of the new belt was $30 and it took us about two hours. The cost of a service call would have been much, much more! Thank you.
