  • Video showing you how to replace the belt on a Kenmore 70 series dryer. Very simple to do, there is not a whole lot to taking off the front of the dryer so you can slip the new belt over the drum.
Once you have the front off and the new belt on, it's just a matter of knowing how to place the new belt over the motor pulley and idler pulley.
Here is a link to order a new belt for your Kenmore Dryer - amzn.to/1R2jNKm
If you have any questions feel free to post them in the comment section.
Also be sure to subscribe to my channel for more appliance repair videos!
I know the dryer is plugged in, lol - The breaker is off to those outlets during the video.
Be sure you unplug your dryer, or turn the breaker off when you replace the belt on your Kenmore Dryer!

The first time I replaced a belt on a dryer was about 35 years ago. I bought the belt, took it home, and it was waaaay too big, I took it back and the guy at the appliance store drew me a diagram on paper how to install it. Worked like a charm. Thanks for this, I knew it was like a serpentine belt and need to replace one now.

Awesome video, nice to see someone that takes it slow and straight forward for people that aren't as inclined to already know some of this stuff. This would enable someone that had never been inside a dryer to complete the job the first time.

Thank you SO much for this excellent video! My husband and I are O.L.D and we were able to repair our dryer with your video, for $12.49 and lots of grunting, groaning, multiple catch-our-breath breaks and helping each other up off the floor (probably would have been comical to watch😁)
So our repair went slow, but worked like a charm!

Thanks for this. Really helped me out, I got it done in about 15 minutes thanks to this video instead of trying to figure it out for myself. One tip for anybody following this, the switch wires on the door that you have to disconnect are a little fiddly, I think you are supposed to squeeze it to bend the plastic over the stops and disconnect the wires, but I couldn't get it to work that way. I finally just slipped two small, flat head screwdrivers in on each side to let the coupling slide over the parts of the plastic that stick up and lock the coupling together, that worked to get the wires apart.
I also used a paint can to hold the end of the drum up while the the front was removed, that made it a little easier to get the belt running true as I spun the drum around a few times to make sure it was in the right place across the entire drum.
Works like a charm now and I just scored big points with the wife.

Bill, great video. And you're correct - it is a lot easier watching someone else do it.
I have worked on cars, boats, plumbing, HVAC, etc and I always look for a video on how to resolve issues. Although I have done brakes on many cars, I will look at a video when working on a different model as they all have different nuances.
Again, great video - the best online tutorials.

This is great, Thank you! I'm just about ready to trouble shoot our Kenmore 70 series and this makes it very clear where and how to look to see why we hear the motor spinning but, not tumble rotation. Whether its a fallen belt or a broken belt replacement it appears to be the same approach. and I'm very glad the 70 series mechanics are all accessible from the front. that makes a world of difference in our tiny, small, and cramped washer/dryer room. Thanks again, this is indeed very, very helpful!!!

I installed a belt a few weeks ago, wish I had seen this video then. Much better than other videos! You took the time to explain how the clips work. I have enough play that I don't need to un-do the door switch. You had a great view of the idler pulley and I'm glad it fell off for you, because on my first belt replacement I wasted a half hour figuring out where it came from when I opened up the dryer. I'm wondering if I ordered the wrong belt (I bought #341241)on line, or I'm thinking I just did not align the belt properly like you showed, and I never rotated the drum backwards to set it straight. The flat side of my new belt got chewed up. This replacement was so easy.

Great video I was not sure how to thread the belt through the tensioner but your video showed it perfectly! Now won't have to drive to laundromat to use the dryer again!

Thanks, these things always come apart fast and easy, but if you don't know how, you are out of luck! You saved me a lot of time and aggravation.:)

I was ready to toss my 30+ year old Kenmore gas dryer until i discovered that the belt was probably broken and it would be simple to change.
Saved $$$!!! My old Kenmore still runs and is HOTTT!

Thanks. I am totally unmechanical, but with your video was able to replace the belt on the 70 series dryer.

Thanks!!! I managed to replace mine about ten years ago, but it will be a lot easier this time having seen it done by a pro.
