Man I really appreciate how much more better both ed's v-triggers has become. Ed's one of my favorite characters to play with but his tech with both triggers was so underwhelming due to v-reversal and didn't hit too hard for damage.
2:40 You can microwalk to hit that 2nd Upper. Very strict Timing! Also after crossup, MP > cr. MP > Upper > VT2 > Microwalk Upper works too, and the timing for the Microwalk is less strict.
These videos are absolutely awesome, thank you so much for them! Not only do they tell me what is different but the actual aplications and implication of those changes, that as someone that has never played SF V before except for the trials in the demo (and is super interested to properly play) it is amazing. Ed was one of the characters that really caught my attention, so it's great to see him stronger
I know I'm thousand years late, but After upper into vtrigger 2 activation on-hit, you can, consistently, from any range, do a dash up into flicker, which will work, where upper or j.mp would not work. Gives good corner carry and okizeme too.
Also! After hitting with vt2 snatcher, Ed can now combo cr.mp into Rising, for better combo routes, more meter usability and better corner carry and okizeme. This ups Eds 1 bar damage after vt2 snatcher too. The only tricky part about this is, you HAVE to delay the divepunch after Rising for it to connect, but this is merely a timing issue, which can be learned very quickly. on that note, the more juggle oppoturnities of flicker enable Ed to do a cornerswitch combo into okizeme after Rising > EX divepunch with a dash into flicker.
some nice quality of life stuff but the real big thing is VT1 is kinda insane now... you can activate it much more carelessly and still get a lot of mileage out of it. a funny thing about this VT is that it was and still is almost better to be activated on block than on hit... on block you get so much carry and mixup, and a lot of characters can't v-reversal it due to its lingering effect... they did a good job making this VT1 more competitive with VT2
Is it just me or do most of Ed's buttons feel different now? I haven't played him in a while, but i always felt like his s lp and s mp were kinda sluggish but now they're not in the slightest. I dont know he just feels a lot less awkward and sluggish between movement and move speed. The quick release of hp is nice too.
I see more Cody players than Ed. Not sure if these buff are enough to make people played them though, not when poster boy and Alex got a lot of buff...
Psycho rising Ex -> VT1 -> VS2(no hold) -> psycho knuckle -> Psycho flicker. Quote me if if wrong but the extra hits on VT1 is what makes this possible right? I’m not sure if it was possible before.
I always kinda wished the devs would have taken more inspiration from Roy Jones Jr. in Ed's moveset, and over-all gameplay. When I first saw his idle stances I got SUPER excited because that's who it reminded me of and then... eh. Just kinda seemed like Doodley would ahve been a better pick instead of Ed. :\
Some good stuff but it's still feels a bit difficult to get in I think he could have: - overhead - cancelable charged VS1 - aerial VS1 - VS2 nullify fireballs, reflects during VT2
I really like his story and his relationship with Balrog and the fact that only Ed can give more depth to Balrog, but they really messed up his design in this game
loving thd videos, still waiting for the zeku one to see if i get the game on ps4 for like 10$, also, if anyone knows, is there a way to get fightmoney without going online? cause fuck me, this internet will not handle sfv or anything that need a stable connection
Ed and Ryu were the only characters I didn't want them to buff and they both got buffed. Ryu and Ed are the only characters I ever run into online and people only ever spam as them. It makes the already terrible online environment even less fun, I'm really not enjoying this patch.
@Sbeve nine Actually Infiltration and Trashbox used Ed in tournaments. Infil used him a couple of times at Red Bull Kumite 2019 and Trashbox used him at EVO Japan 2020 where he beat Gachikun Rashid.
@@thepuppetmaster9284 Oh nice I didn't know that, Ed was considered trash back then so no one really learned the matchup because a lot of people thought no one is gonna use him
"'This is a special Guard Break, where the opponent can still block." Nice.
LMAO 😭
If it always guard breaks and give you a free combo, that would be so stupid
Ironically Ed would absolutely rather have the +3 to frame trap with than st LK into hands at 60% scaling lmao
Oh shit, I didn't think of that, thx for telling us
@@Bafael at the cost of V-Reversal being a hard counter?
That little tweak they did with keeping the frame data after hit was a very useful addition!!
One small thing you missed is that you can now do psycho flicker after a crush counter st.hp in the corner and even cancel it into CA after
Ed actually looks pretty fun this season. I might have to dabble.
it won't take you long to realize he is trash vs the rest of the cast.

An additional perk to the 10f on hit to stMP is that it allows for micro walk combos like stMP stMP crMK
Good shit as always. I didn't think to look at Ed's changes but it looks like they took more care with him this time around than I would have assumed.

I fucking love these videos and I don't even play 5.
Damn you're coming out with these fast. Good shit.

One more combo he can do from Upper into VT2 is J.MP Down VS1. The timing is pretty precise and you have to be kind of close to do it but it's there
