Street Fighter V - Championship Edition - Season 5 is here! Subscribe for more content around fighting games and the FGC.
way too underrated youtuber with this kind of quality in their content. mad respect, keep it up!
Thank you that makes me feel so happy!
I literally thought he had like 200k subs or something like the quality is rly good tbh
Bro finding this channel made me excited, been trying to get into fighting games so I like the simplicity and getting straight to the point politely. Thank you.
thank you so much! I aim to please
I have a video on corner control you might enjoy check it out
I love Ed he's great to start with and learn with easy inputs and is so fun.
I honestly think thats SO true. He has easy execution and can get you into playing SF pretty quickly in this iteration.
I play Ed, but I always click on any of these types of videos that I see. Never assume you know everything right? Good video, accurate info.
The constant pursuit of knowledge is so important, I also look for so much extra stuff since you never know what meaty or trade situation might yield crazy results in SFV.
As a beginner this is the type of quick information i’m looking for not a 10+plus minute video going through the whole kit from normals - combos. Not overwhelming and just enough to know
Appreciate that! I'm back to make more vids for 2021 especially with the new updates!
I love your commentary on these. Just wish I found you a year ago. Thanks for these!
I'm picking up Ed for another video so look out for that soon
>BLOCK
youre expecting a lot out of a silver player
I can only hope :)
So you're saying push buttons and try kill?
Thanks! I just jumped into a fighting league with like no sfv experience. I'll be using Ed lol. Oh I like G too. Hes something else
it's fun when you first start. I think Ed's options and buttons make him an easier start character. let me know how it goes
@@OneTimeHero will do thanks alot
I just picked up Ed and this has been very useful to get me on track fast. Thanks a lot 😊
I'm so happy to hear that! Be sure to check out other Ed stuff I posted and ask me any questions if you are interested!
Thx, i just started playing Street fighter again, never was able to even get out of rookie cuz i suck, Ed is a perfect character for me, i did box and he's easy enough for me, finally learning the game, thx again
Hey I appreciate that. I always wanted to learn how to box but I ended up just doing fighting games and playing boxing like characters as my main mains.
If you have questions as you go along, feel free to check back here or hit me up on twitter/twitch.
@@OneTimeHero i appreciate my dude, im gonna go back and try to learn my arcade stick again, if im able i'll definitely ask u some questions about G, Urien and Gill
Don’t forget to mention the jump bait. Using fireballs to bait the jump then using the anti air combos really makes Ed dominate the field, he’s one of the hardest character to learn so I wish everyone good luck on discovering this awesome character.
Does Ed even have Fireballs?
1:38 to anyone watching, don't do that combo to punish an uppercut; one ex bar, one v-trigger usage to do what, 250 damage?
st. MP, cr. MP x psycho upper deals similar damage for no meter and no v-trigger activation.
I love this format, really good content
thank you so much!! sorry for taking a while to respond!
Nice video, straight to the point, and very useful
thank you so muchhh more to come~
This video is perfect for a newcomers. I can't believe how hard it is just to find easily digestible character gameplans. I either find too much information or not enough when looking up a character. I'm brand new to the game, so I'm really just trying to get a basic understanding of what my goals should be when jumping online for the first time. Also, I can't believe you only have 803 subscribers!
Also, does any of this information change with the Feb patch?
I am revisiting this soon because Ed got better not worse. The info in this vid is still solid since the changes just make it so he has more pressure after a guard break vt2 vs. opponents v-reversalling you.
The only thing people can do for guides like this is recommend them on their social medias and I gotta do a better job of making more, literally more, videos to help newer players to characters or newer to the game. Love the feedback!
This video is so good! I learned so much, thanks!
I'm so glad! There's some advanced ideas found in the other comments you might find useful so check those out but if you have any specific questions feel free to ask me them here or on the socials!
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Ed is the best character for newcomers to start with.
I think he is! He's solid and now with his recent buffs he's even more accessible.
But in all honesty, I like Ed because I love just dancing through fireballs with his V Skill 2
I love it!
Great video!
thanks so much!
He messed up the stand HK crush counter combo. Makes me happy cause it’s the only combo I constantly drop.
I used to Main Guy in sf4, Ed seems to have a similar vibe. Is Ed a rushdown character like Guy?
I seem to like Ed because, he has moves similar to Guy to dash in and close in on the opponents
He uses chains like scorpion from mortal kombat to pull in opponents
And he has a fireball that doubles as a shield.
He is a very interesting character.
I can't wait until he is in af6!
SF6!
Some of these combos are not optimal in terms of damage and corner carry. For example: 1:42, after EX Splash into air VS2 into the VT2 cancel you can link ground VS2 into VT2 for max damage, or not for optimal corner carry. Otherwise, great video!
Appreciate the notes!
@@OneTimeHero No problem! ( I know this may've been annoying as people who are learning the character are probably not interested in optimisation, but I still thought I'd say it in-case anyone was interested. )
Is there any particular good or bad matchups for Ed that u need to watch out for?
I think some difficult matches for Ed are the ranged characters like Falke, Dhalsim, and G potentially. Ed's buttons are a little small so he has to make his way in. Characters like these can punish you for trying to fireball or whiff normals. I want to put Balrog on this list also because you have to learn vs2 and vt2 to fight him effectively while playing a bit passive until you can get in.
Those are some quick thoughts for you.
As a noob i have no idea what cr.fp means. Would be helpful to explain what it means or show button inputs.
sorry about that. I'll think about having a definition guide in the description or pinned comment
cr = Crouching
FP = Fierce Punch 👊
In the game there are 6 common 'normal' attacks or buttons.
LP MP HP [punches]
LK MK HK [kicks]
These can be mapped to any control scheme. I'll try to find ways to further improve my videos this year going into the SF6. Thank you for the support.
@@OneTimeHero other than that I like the guide. Is fierce punch when you press the button that uses LP, MP AND HP?
@@sw8carbon yes if you press all three that one will come out but typically on a controller this might be r1
Nice video
But as an ed main
There is flaws in your methods
St hk shouldn't be use on oki like that ... it's minus 4
And u shouldn't spent your vt2 like that after v trigger cancellation ... it's wasting of meter and the damage isn't good due to scaling * I'd recommend one vt2 after vt cancellation for oki
And opponents don't always mash on wakeup...
U can make a part 2 covering different typical.wake up options like tech 3framer back walk etc.
I love the using of v trigger after your Dragon punch to neglect the crush counter
Its a good option if the opponent reacts with a heavy normal... but it can be punish heavily still because they gonna get a counter hit confirm combo
And characters like rashid and lucia can chc into their heavy normals which does alot of damage as well .. so just be mindful of that
Peace dude
Totally love the comments man. I think that this is very good for people starting out with Ed. For players in Bronze/Silver trying out Ed this might be a good starting place.
That said! Love the comments! Appreciate any feedback I can get.
@@OneTimeHero no scene bro
The SFV rollback when the ultra silver Ed player pressed every button on his stick at once:
This is a thing. :)
Okay i have not watched this video
As a fellow ed player.... Do you know you can whiff cancel jab into hands to give it more range?
Ed players please do this in neutral
I did know that you can do some of that its an interesting way to poke while threatening cr.mk. I'll think about using that some more in neutral in my next round table.
Nice vid bro..
Thanks so much! Hopefully it was helpful! If you have other questions i'd love to answer them
I think I might be too basic because I didn't understand any of the words on screen.
ill try to do better
I'm new to sfv. And I was a ryu main as a rookie player. Then everything change when I encountered Ed on a rank match. I beat every Ed player though. But there's something about Eds Move that I like. So I tried playing Ed on casual match. It didn't go well. I always lose. May opponents are too aggressive and I have nothing to do but block. Tell I watch this videos. I now have 55wins on Ed. And the losses. Let's just say. It is part of my experience.
I'm glad! check out the full Playlist as I have some helpful Ed tips
I know I'm late as fuck to the party but I have a question: What about VT1? Just worse? Cause it's fun af
VT1 is super fun. I don't talk about it much here because it requires more explanation than 2 minutes to get the most out of it.
VT1 has mix ups and situations where you can switch sides and confuse the opponent for big damage and or resets.
Often where people go wrong with VT1 is doing it on block and then they get v-reversal'd so its not a good VT for new players (in my opinion).
I could make a video about it and highlight a player using it in the future if you are interested.
@@OneTimeHero I am Indeed. A friend of mine preached VT2 to me but I always found VT1 to be more fun. Chasing your opponent with it and pushing them once they lay on the ground to be pressured again or what the real good players manage to accomplish in the videos you find on YT regardin the resets you mentioned.
I have no one to show or demonstrate the applications of VT1 so I'd be interested and happy if you were so kind to do so^^
@@bildschirmschnorrer2722 I'll put it on my project list ;)
@@OneTimeHero I am happy to hear that^^ have a great evening and I'll be following your planned and ongoing projects with great interest^^
Thoughts on Winter Update changes?
I am actually really excited about Ed! I saw some NASTY set ups on Twitter where he's resetting them before they hit the ground. VT2 guard breaking is nice since everyone v-reversals it. He has some new conversions with hands so I think that might be good also.
note for me📝 : meaty button is StMp
How TF do you connect cr.mk after spark...
it might depend on spacing but you cancel the cr.mk into forward+P,P at the right spacing
all u need to know is
123 123 123!
I think thats a pretty fun tactic too :)
do more
another video coming this week and someone wants Ed info so I'll do that also
It's funny cause 2 minutes is literally all you need to know Ed, he's easy and is pretty safe to play even in high ranked games, kinda annoying tbh.
Why would anyone want to learn Ed
now that Luke is here, hard to say but Ed's execution requires less practice by far
00:38 my cousin chooses this colour
You expect me, a rushdown main in literally every single fighting game I've played, to ever even CONSIDER blocking as an option? Blocking is for weak keep-away/zoning players. Real players keep spamming attacks 24/7 and stay in bronze because why not?
you gotta do what you gotta do! as long as you decided
Your instructions on screen are appearing and disappearing way too fast. You should slow down. Like the "VT Activation" at 0:45 doesnt even stay up for a full second. It's hard to follow.
I'll take that in consideration for the next one. I'm always thinking people might just pause it but I can look into changing my timing for sure.
@@OneTimeHero Like if you could do a slow-mo when you are explaining the combo section, that would be super helpful, because through a new player's eyes it happens really fast. Thanks, and over all I did find this video helpful and now I am playing Ed.
let me know how it goes!
