I remember that Baf called a future patch giving Ryu a st. hp that always special cancels, back in his video on one of the previous patches when they added that to VT2. Ryu getting his season 1 cr. hp animation back in his target combo is hilarious. VS2 potentially being better than VS1 now is _really_ hilarious.

Ryu in 3s is mad fucking fun. Especially super 3 denjin hadouken. It gives him unlockable set ups and shit. His other two supers are really viable and fun as well. That said, sfv season 5 ryu is definitely the most fun hes been since third strike.
As a spectator, I can already tell this patch is gonna be a treat. I've been on Twitter all morning seeing tons of new stuff that the characters can do. What a time to be alive

So: VT1: You turn into SFIV Ryu having ridiculous links VT2: You get either 2 instant Focus attacks that deal 100 damage, or 1 Focus Crumple that can link into max damage combos without issue Ryu's V Triggers are essentially Ryu going back to SFIV tactics and winning with them

Very good! Glad to see this series. It's important to note that V-Shift makes all frame traps and obvious offense potentially weaker, but Ryu's always been about precision (and these days, solid defense), so they should jive with his gameplan.
Because of the extra juggle on ex donkey kick, Ryu's optimal 1 and 2 bar combos can now be used more often. Before Ryu could only use them while he was in the corner and when your opponent was stunned. Now he can use them as long as his opponent is not near the corner. Without a jump in or VT2, the one bar combo does 505 stun which is almost half of the stun bar for most of the cast. Ryu already had big damage, but now he can dizzy people easier too
The changes to EX donkey kick mean you almost always get b+HK mid-screen. Ryu seems insanely fun right now, but I guess we'll see when the meta settles.
Ryu can now target combo into Vskill 2 then cancel into Either VTrigger 1 OR 2 and get a light Tatsu after. If he's midscreen and does this. He's +20 in your face at corner.
