    Wambui, you are remarkable. You are perhaps the best You Tube Instructors on the Web, but for certain you are one of the prettiest. You are a blessing to all. Many thanks from this 80 yr old who has loom knitted and donated to the Salvation Army over 600 hats and scarves over the last couple of years. But, now I'll be able to provide lovely, comfortable socks.
    Blessings from Idaho...

    Oh Wambui! I just finished making my first house sock. Instead of #5 weight yarn, I used 2 strands of worsted weight held together - one green, one red - because these are Christmas socks for my granddaughter. I’ ve been knitting socks on four needles for years, but I’m new to loom knitting. (Broken thumb, I can loom with one hand) and I have to say that the toe on these is just the cleverest thing!! I had no idea you could make socks on a loom! Thank you so much. I love all your videos, Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow …. But the reason I enjoy them the most if because your warmth and enthusiasm shines through. I think you must be a lovely human being.

      Greetings! Thank you so very much for watching. Thank you for the lovely comment. It means a lot to me. When I first started loom knitting, I always used 2 strands of worsted weight yarn. For a long time I thought that was the only way to do loom knitting🤗.
      I am sorry to hear about your broken thumb. - but happy you have found a way to still be creative. I wish you continued success on your loom knitting journey. All the best to you!

    Oh my goodness I’m so pleased with this tutorial. I was always very intimidated by sock patterns. Your tutorials are always so clear and easy to follow. I messed up a bit on my first heel but it still looks ok. A lady in a nursing home commissioned e to make her (boot socks as she called it). I tried to decline her request. Stating I wasn’t very good additionally I was really slow at loom knitting. She insisted that didn’t matter and gave me $20. (Which I will return) Her issue is her feet are swollen and arthritic so conventional socks/slippers don’t fit and her feet are always cold. I added 3 additional rows to the foot section. We shall see if it fits. However if not I will use them myself and make a bigger pair for her. But the point is you and her challenged me to move out of my comfort level and try. I did it! Thank you! Thank you! 😊

    • @WambuiMadeIt
      @WambuiMadeIt  Год назад +1

      What a wonderful story! Thank you so very much for sharing this with everyone. Because the sock is so stretchy, I think it will fit well for swollen feet. However, if she is a very large woman, you might want to go from 24 to 26 pegs and from 20 rows to 25 rows. A 26 peg loom is hard to find - Unless you have the Flexee Loom and can make your own. --With all of that said, I believe the 24 pegs will work fine and that she will love the socks and find that they are stretchy enough for swollen feet and ankles. She is going to love them! And, God loves you!

    So I picked up loom knitting about a year ago and tried making a sock pretty early on with the assistance of someone else’s video. I hated it! I didn’t enjoy making the sock, it was stressful! I also wasn’t pleased with the end project as it had so many holes it didn’t seem like a practical sock. So fast forward to now I have made more the just hats like I had made before sock attempt 1, I have made Easter baskets, chicks, teddy bears, scarfs, but still I was so pleased with the process of making a sock with the assistance of your video! I was shocked I pulled off a sock with a heel and toe! Your video made it so easy! I am very pleased with the end product! I do have a question about changing colors from band to body of sock leg to heel to body of the sock foot and toe. I watched one of your other videos about changing colors, but wasn’t sure what you did with the tails and if changing colors is even something you recommend with socks?

    I am very irritated at YT for not alerting me regarding new videos from you. I could rant on but I would lose any sense of dignity I nay have left. I just love the house socks! As usual, the instructions and video are absolutely excellent. Your heel and toe looming method is so much easier than any I have seen, made so by your step-by-step verbal and visual instructions. I'm starting one right now. Yay! I think of you often and am so glad I checked your channel for myself. And now, I am off to mark my loom for my stunning, to be envied by all house socks! Take very good care and thank you so much for an excellent video. Peace and love💞

I start toe on opposite side of the heel this way when I am sewing toe closed from loom my stitches are at bottom of foot. The top of the toe is nice and smooth. Hi, thank you so much for your video and instructions, they are so clear, with both the written and the video itself, that I was actually able to easily understand what I was supposed to do without having to rerun like I have done to other posters videos. So thank you so much for that.
    I was thinking that as you use chunky wool/yarn for these socks to be a woman's size 8, I m presuming that to get smaller sizes, I just change the weight of the wool, so small ladies would be maybe Aran or equivalent (I'm in the UK), teens would be double knit, young children would be like 4 ply, babies 3 ply. Or if I wanted to make a man's size, just go to the bulky or the sport type wool.
    Would my thinking be correct?

    • @WambuiMadeIt
      @WambuiMadeIt  2 года назад

      Greetings to Enquire in the UK! First of all, thank you so very much for watching. I am glad that you find a video easy to follow.
      Regarding the size, you want to focus on CHANGING THE NUMBER OF ROWS. I suggest you make one sock using the number of rows I use in the tutorial. Once you see the size of the finished sock, then you can decide if you want it smaller or larger. For instance, for a child, you might want only to loom knit 12 rows for the foot instead of 22.
      Instead of changing the yarn weight, I would change the number of rows.🧶🧶🌻
