Love this very helpful since i am new to looms. :) My sister got my round looms and my brother got me long loom's , i hope to get some thick yarn to make blanket's soon. :) It sounds like i need to use the kb looms for him and her set to make hubby and i a set of cool sock with thin yarn. :) Keep up great video's you are very helpful thank you for sharing your great knowledge of looms love all the help i can get . :) Hug's have a great week and lovely weekend toni g.:)
Do you have a suggestion for what loom would be best for making a wide calf sock? Normal winter socks fit fine on my foot but they're always so tight on my calf. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
What do you think about making open toe socks? Can you make ribbing at the end of the foot rather than decreasing and Kitchener closure? I have a hard time with pressure on my toes.
I recently found you and subscribed. I am very new to loom knitting. I have purchased the Cindwood universal loom (1/4 130 pegs). Do you have any videos showing you do 2 socks at a time? In the meantime I am playing with the his/her kb sock loom for now. Thank you! 🙂
@LopsidedCrafter Thanks! I am watching/following the one you did with the KB Loom. I made a mistake and couldn't figure out how to fix it so I pulled it all off. LOL I will try again.
Great video, I also had one question for you, what sock pattern would you use for the KB orange sock loom? I am trying to figure out an easy beginner pattern.
I have one I'm working on for the channel. But You could, actually, use any sock pattern made for needle knitting. Since knitting in the round has no turning ( like on the loom) any pattern with a 56 stitch count would work. I have a video on my channel that shows how to do the Kitchener cast on for toe up. However, I do have one I'm working on for that particular loom that I should, hopefully have ready soon!
I decided just today that I'm buying a sock loom and the his/her is my choice due to your recommendation, thank you. I'm a 54 year old male that finds himself with lots of free time between calls at work. I'm gonna make socks. Can I use a cashmere blend with that one, I forget if you said. If so, how much you think a pair would cost to make in material? Listen to me, I sound like a pro already ! I wanna make a pair for my ma. Thanks and I'm gonna sub so I can get caught up on some learning.
Wonderful! Sorry it took so long to get back to you! RUclips doesn't always show when I get messages/ I recommend a wool, nylon blend for socks. As for the yarn it can vary in price. If you have a Michaels or Joann's near you they should have sock yarn, Typically it takes around 100g for a good pair of socks
I have the his and her looms I made one sock and started the second one and froged it because I lost my count so I had one lonely sock so I frogged it also. But I did like it and will try it again. Thanks for the review. Do you have a sock pattern and video I am a visual person?
No problem 😊I still use all of them!!! I find that I use the CinDwood Crafts one more often than KB looms. But it's not due to issues with one over the other. They just seem to be the ones I grab more often
Measuring distance between centres of pegs is tricky to be exact. I felt so stupid when I realised I could also measure from a point on one side of a peg to the same point on the next peg. Same measurement!
Do you have a video with your recommendation for a good all around beginner loom? I was thinking about getting the 2 different flexee loom sizes. I'm a crochet girl who used to loom knit a little bit but never got as into it as I did crochet but now my kids want to make stuff and they do not have the patience for crochet yet lol! I bust out the looms and they went nuts. Loom knitting together is a lot of fun though and I want to encourage them to keep it up by getting them some looms of their own 😁 And maybe some sock looms for me hence why I'm here lol
Sorry! RUclips doesn't always tell me when I get posts! The flexure looms are good. I can't use them very well because of my arthritis. The all-in-one loom and the s looms are great through KbLomms.....I also like the looms from CinDwood. I think the lest option for starting is the all in one!
I saw a video where the person was using a holder for the yarn, not a hook, and she put the yarn in this holder and it looked like it would be easier to use than the hook. Have you seen or know where I could get one?
Love your video!! Always do!! May I ask about the KB sock loom you show the #2 but you can get the original fir a smaller gauge and it does work very well. I also must suggest you try the newest small X loom for socks by Cindiwood. I like to make 2 socks at once so that allows us to do that and it's compact. I have all the looms you shiw and have tried them. I do use 2 sets of the KB sock set I use 2 orange at the same time. Great suggestion is to use reinforcement thread for socks!! It makes a huge difference!! I honestly like the smallest gauge 1 smaller than 1/4". I need another one but have 1 for now. Keep up the loom videos!!
sheryl katz I actually have the new x sock loom - I didn’t have it at the time of the video( it was in the mail lolol) . I didn’t care much for the KB efg sock loom and gave it to a friend who is learning to loom. Thank you for your kind words!❤️
Not yet, I’ve been working on one for a while now. I’ve just not been happy with the outcome of it! I’m finding the stitches are a little tight. Once I get one that I feel is good enough I’ll definitely be releasing it
I tried the orange his and hers sock loom The pattern I found is easy but found the stitches too tight The knit stitch makes it tight I think So I was wondering if could use a ewrap instead of the u knit stitch?
Thanks for the overview! I'm brand new to loom knitting, and would have loved to be able to follow your advice and get the His and Hers looms to start on. My partner's feet are too big for the His loom, though! I settled on getting the Loom a Pair from Cottage Looms, which looks like it will work just like your 1/4" universal hat and scarf loom. (I was actually going to buy that one, but I liked Cottage Looms's price/materials better.)
This is EXACTLY the information I have been searching for! Thank you!
You’re welcome! 😊❤️
Oh wow, I didnt know there were so many! I'm just learning about all this. Hope all is well your way. Met you last night in 3C live!!
Very informative. I can't wait to see your ideas and tho work on a sock loom!
this is tottallly new to me....loved this videeooo...thz for the upload dear frrnd
Lots of help I want to learn to loom socks. I crochet but not a fan of crochet socks
I hope to do a tutorial, next month some time!
I picked up a adjustable sock loom at a garage sale for a few bucks . I haven't used it yet for socks.
My daughter made a scarf with it .
yay!! Was it the Sock 2?
@@LopsidedCrafter it is a KB sock loom with metal pegs . The pamphlet just says KB sock Loom

I would suggest a loom that you can increase on such as the sock X loom from CinDwood Looms
I am looking for a loom that will work with fingering weight, or dk for wraps, etc. Which would you recommend?
I am starting a series about looms that will cover all of that information, in the coming weeks.
What do you think about making open toe socks? Can you make ribbing at the end of the foot rather than decreasing and Kitchener closure? I have a hard time with pressure on my toes.
Absolutley! I don't see why not! Just treat it like a cuff, work the foot, the heel and leg!

Froggy Day Crochet I look forward to seeing it. I watched the Kitchener cast on, just wasn’t sure how to wrap it on the kB sock loom the orange one.

Not yet. But it is in the works!
I need it reading a pattern is hard for me lol lol lol
@@angieprescott1567 I do find that some of the looming patterns are harder to read.
I got my KB rectangular loom from Amazon.
can you use regular yarn for socks on these looms? do you have any videos on that as well. Thanks!😊
You can use any yarn on these looms….. BUT making socks without nylon will stretch out and not stay up
How do you know what size (length) sock you need to make.
There are a lot of resources online for measuring you foot. I have a few other sock videos on my channel that may help
what sock loom are you using today? Thank you...just want to make the right purchase😁

@@LopsidedCrafter round or the long one
@@debraraiche3327 Both lol! The only difference is the round one is for one at a time and the universal is for 2 at a time
Have you done a two sock video on the rectangle 1/4” CinDWood? I always use the round CinDWood 60 peg toe up.
I have! I like to switch back and forth from doing one at a time to two at a time
Can I make miniature doll clothes with these looms, if so where to find tutorials?
I am not sure about this. I would imagine that you can. Have you tried looking on google or Pinterest ?
