Thank you Mr. Turner! It is engineers like you who create beginners in the trade. I love your brand of clamps, worth 1000 likes from me only if that was possible. Automatically one of your ardent subscribers/followers
“Scratching about with a welding rod” such a true statement that anyone that’s arc welded can fully understand. My first welding experience was oxy-acetylene welding in Highschool welding class over 40 years ago. Very few people back then would have had a MIG welder so any other welding was done with a stick welder. Once I had the chance to use a MIG welder I was amazed at how well it worked with very little if any to clean up. I by no means am a great welder but if the welding gods are smiling then I can lay down some great looking beads. I don’t have a welder of my own but after seeing this video I can see that an arc welder (wish I had my Dad’s old Lincoln tombstone) is still a viable alternative for a lot of work at a more affordable price.
Scott, super nice tight tutorial for making squares 👍😎👍 - I can't wait for you and the Pask-man to get together again. I get so excited when you both post some new content. Joel.....
I was looking for a fun and useful welding project. This is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for posting this. More videos on show figures and jigs would be great.
Thank you for posting so usefull video Scott... I've just arrived into this great hobby, though rather old to start in it.. pushing 67😅. I found your presentation very inspiring in many ways!! Best regards from Argentina!
Those are great. Like a poor man's Fireball square. I have to make some for sure. How lazy are we when it's really just that simple. Ha Thanks for the inspiration, Scott.
Who said old dogs can't learn new tricks. I am going to build 4 of the first jig then you can build frames complete with out tacking check your measurements and adjust if you have to. I make wall brackets out 2in. x1/4 flatbar and do not need to remove the jig to weld that is great you can flip the parts and weld in any position. You need a vice on a pedestal. I made two for myself and made a trailer rotisserie. I built two trailers using it. I Showed my boss where I worked a picture of the vice he liked it so much he built 6 for the shop, great for cleaning parts any place in the shop. I have used jigs for many years and are great for repeatable parts so this video impressed me greatly. Keep up the great videos and play safe Cheers.
Gret video Scott! For those of you that don"t have that chop saw, the ear protectors Scott is wearing at 10:40 are an absolute must. These freekin' things are loud!!
Thank you, Scott! You and Neil Paskin have given us hope and inspiration over the years with building and making things on our own. I’ve been a woodworker for years and have always been interested in getting into welding. This video inspires me to get started! Love your project videos and designs as well! 👍🏼
The opening piece of advice are so great, and well told. The mening of effort. Practice. Learning. And getting better, getting skills. Thank you, some people forget this.
You and Neil make the best content! Your coffee tables have been a huge inspiration for me. I also built a welding table based off of his design with a couple of modifications. Appreciate the videos!
Bonjour Monsieur Turner, très bonne idée ces équerres pour le maintient des pièces avant soudure !!! Je vais donc faire les mêmes, merci et bonne continuation .
Excellent video. Thank you for posting. The arc welder is a very versatile piece of equipment and not an expensive purchase. Great for outdoor work. I always enjoy your videos and you're a great teacher. Looking forward to the next one. All the best. 👍
I enjoyed the video. I would have liked to see you use angle iron on the hypotenuse brace instead of flat, so that you could use the 45-degree angles for clamping as well.
Hello, I've been watching you for some time now, and I take great pleasure in seeing and reviewing your videos. Your fabrications are just amazing and really very beautiful. You have a real talent ! Thank you for your channel !
Great video Scott. You could spend hundreds on commercially available welding squares but these will work also plus give you some practice welding and making things square.
Love your videos. I "watch later" on a lot of other videos, but yours get watched as soon as I see see them get uploaded. Thanks a bunch. There is one thing way worse than scratching about and making poopy welds... Not welding at all. Keep up the great work!
Very nicely done. Great video brother. Very informative and pretty entertaining. Your video was very well put together with great editing. Much appreciation for explaining how the two fixtures are properly made and used. Having the best tools in the world means nothing if you can't use them properly. Having that in your video is extremely helpful to those who are lacking in experience with such tools. Lastly, thank you for plugging Pask Makes. I just took a quick look and his library is full of extremely useful information and project how to's. So again, great video and project. Much respect 🙏.
Bonjour scott, très pratique ces équerres, je vais certainement te copier et me faire les mêmes😂 beau boulot (Hello scott, very practical these squares, I will definitely copy you and do the same for me😂 great job)
Great welding project. I couldn't agree with you more. If you want to start welding pick up a stick welder and start padding beads. Get a piece of 3" x 3" flat bar and lay one bead after another. When you have covered up the surface turn the piece of flat bar 90 degrees and fill it up again.
Those are very nice. Fixtures make a lot of jobs easier to do. I always have lots of sheet metal scraps from laser cutting and make various clamps and fixtures from those.
Well if you treat the leafs and process with a healthy respect you’ll be safe. Give it a go my friend and just be safe. Then practice and it’ll come to you. Hope you give it a try. I love welding.
Don’t sell yourself short Scott. Yourself and Neil Paskin are both very accomplished makers that have done many incredible projects. Hopefully if there isn’t a lot of overlap (I think there is) in your subscriber lists then you will both benefit from the cross promotion like when you “dropped in” on Neil when he made his cog wheel. Hopefully the 2 of you can get together again since you’re both in Australia afterall. 😉
Great video been meaning to have a go at something like these. Jealously coveting the fireball squares commonly seen on other channels but their shipping to Australia is astronomical.
Scott it's nice to see u in the lab again.. miss all those cool projects.. Hey there's a guy from your neck of the woods name Gavin..can't remember his last name, but he does some beautiful stuff with rebar.. I was wondering if he was close to you.. I'll ck out the guys channel u mentioned in your video.. Scott keep up the great work my friend and God Bless you and your family...
9:28 to eliminate distortion, or cancel the forces Do 4 corner tacks, fully weld the closest side to camera, then the opposite furthest, then the left outside joint, then finally the right inside joint.
The more heat you put into it, the more it will warp. Clamp and tack at all corners and even heat through each weld moving from the outside edge/corner of the piece in. Always worked for me.
I found your channel from Pask Makes, so hopefully your shout out will send some viewers his way. Keep the tips and tricks coming, thanks
You and Neil are a huge inspiration to a lot of us
Thank you so much, really appreciate the feedback!
Excellent video. I have spent hundreds of dollars in squares, and I do not have enough. I will be making these for sure.
Forme Industrious and Pask makes are my 2 favourite makers channels . Cheers mate. :)
Always appreciated Douglas!
Both extraordinary Queenslanders!
Another Brilliant video! Awesome from beginning to end! I always look forward to seeing your newest projects!

Thank you so much Edmund!!
A light to shine on the welding is so underrated, ha?! I use it for every weld i do and it makes a huuuuge difference in what you're able to see!
Anyone that gives Neil Pask a shout-out deserves a "thumbs up" !! Thanks for the video !
I learn something every time I watch one of your and Neil's videos. Cheers!
watching your videos I always learn! thanks greetings 🇺🇾
I love what you do in a small shop! Inspiration for us all.
Scott, thank you so much for this beginners video!

Agreed, for most home workshops, the stick will do the vast majority of tasks, except Aluminium Alloys I suppose. Quite affordable. Thanks Wayne!
Very good job, these are quite expensive so making them saves money. Good Job Mate !! thanks for sharing
Much appreciated Jose!
I think what you said about Neil applies to you as well Scott, you are an awesome maker
Very kind, much appreciated Dan thank you!
Hey Scott

So great to see an Aussie doing this. Thanks bro!! So simple and perfect. Im going to try this tomorow.
Those are great. Like a poor man's Fireball square. I have to make some for sure. How lazy are we when it's really just that simple. Ha Thanks for the inspiration, Scott.
Haha :) no problems Rob
Thanks for the Video Mate never thought to make ones own Weld Jigs. From fellow Antipodean from South Africa👍🏼

Hey Paul, cheers mate! Yes you guys have done it tough for sure.
Thanks Scott, Ill make a couple of these before I build my next steel box/frame!!
Simple tooling for everyman, more please 👍👍👍👍👍
Great work i would suggest the brace made in angle iron that way you would add 45 degree angle or 135. And still keep the 90
You're right, thank you!
Bonjour scott, très pratique ces équerres, je vais certainement te copier et me faire les mêmes😂 beau boulot (Hello scott, very practical these squares, I will definitely copy you and do the same for me😂 great job)

Thank you! Yes you have to put the time into it, change the settings to help understand how it affects the weld and keep at it Cheers!
I just got myself a MIG flux core welder, what an addition to my kit :)
Yes MIG is really good for sure

Thanks Michael! Handy for sure and always a good idea to make use of off cuts. All the best to you in these interesting times Michael.
Great tutorial, thanks.
Welding has always intrigued me but makes me very nervous. Great useful content as usual, buddy
Well if you treat the leafs and process with a healthy respect you’ll be safe. Give it a go my friend and just be safe. Then practice and it’ll come to you. Hope you give it a try. I love welding.
I have that same cold cut saw and Love it!

Good one. I'll be making some.

I want one of those saws. Haven't got one yet.
