  • I had to move from one province to another in Canada (huge change 😬). Transitions in general, but especially moving can be extremely challenging for me as an autistic person.
I talk about the move, and what was difficult, and also what is helpful.
00:00 - intro and life update
    06:31 - what are transitions?
08:37 - moving is a huge and extra difficult transition
20:14 - things that help ease transitions

    Hi, i'm millie!
I am autistic and ADHD, and I'm trying to leave the world in slightly better shape than when I found it. I am working towards this goal by focusing my life energy and experience as disabled and neurodivergent into disability advocacy work.
If you like what I am doing and would like to support me to be able to continue doing it then any contribution, however small will help make that happen, and you will help me get closer to my dream of a society that is more accepting and appreciative of neurodivergent people and people with disabilities.
    Thank you.

Sorry about the audio being only on one side!
I want to make things as accessible as possible, so ill try my best to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future. I know what the problem is now, so I can avoid this issue for future videos. I know from my own experience that it really bothers me if I'm listening on headphones and the audio is only on one side.

Tee hee. I was wondering about that. Apology accepted with delight that it was offered. It's old school. It was all 'mono' at one point in recording history.

I wish moving wasnt necesary. It always feels like its forced, like i have no choice. If i had a choice i wouldnt move.

yeah, I wish I could've stayed in the house I lived in at 16 years old for the rest of my life, but the lease was up among a lot of other things :// so I've moved like 3 times since then, about to move a 4th time

I agree 100%. I've moved so many times in my life and almost everytime it was because life forced me somehow and it wasn't really possible to stay in the same place anymore.

Thankfully, when I moved into my apartment. After living with my parents, they let me do it slowly. I just brought a little bit of stuff at a time, and it took 2 months to have everything.

That's good that you had some time to move in! Still stressful though no matter what but time helps.

@cherrymintrose Yes, it was still stressful but It was easier when a little bit of stuff came at a little bit of time.

Hi! I'm new to your channel. And to my own autistic dx as an adult. Your voice is so relaxing and it's helpful to hear you discussing transition challenges like mine. Thank you! 🫶🏻

thank you so much! The feedback i'm getting about my voice has helped me like my own voice a lot more. I dealt with a lot of dysphoria from being transgender and how my voice sounded but now i'm liking it more.

I was about to make a similar comment! Relaxing voice, beautifully articulate, and well organized presentation. I have ADHD and suspect I’m on the spectrum, but not seeking a diagnosis. This video helps me explain many of the challenges I experience because they’re nearly the same. Thank you ❤

Note: your audio is only output for the left channel, seems your recording went into a weird territory. I’m listening on headphones at work.

oh no, ok thanks for letting me know! That will remind me to double check that next time. I know that it can be very hard to listen to on headphones if it's only one side.
