- ALERT: SEE BELOW FOR NEW INFO!
Does Microsoft Outlook keep asking for your password for your Comcast email account... even though you KNOW you are entering the correct password, and you KNOW you have the IMAP/SMTP and SSL settings correct?
This relatively new security setting in the settings of Comcast webmail may be your answer.

Just discovered this week that Norton VPN will interfere with Comcast email working properly in Outlook, presenting with exactly the same symptoms we cover in this video. So if you have Norton 360, Norton VPN, or any other kind of VPN on your computer, you might try disabling it to see if email delivery starts working.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had this problem before , but, was able to solve it myself. Not so much, this time. Your instructions were so helpful, clear and concise. You even went through it a second time. I’m still using Outlook 2010/Windows 10. Within 5 minutes, you helped me solve my problem.
So great to hear it, thanks Catherine!
Thank you! You'd think that Xfinity would put this information on their support page on how to set up third-party email clients!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I have spent approximately 4 hours on the phone with the clueless crowd at Xfinity/Comcast. They kept transferring me from one department to another. I kept trying on my own to figure out what I needed to do.
Well, this is one of the most useful pieces of info I've seen on the 'net. Thank you Very much! I ended up changing my password so many times thinking I typed something wrong during the previous attempt. I'm subscribed!
From one dad to another... thank you!
I cannot thank you enough for this video ! I had tried every setting that I could think of in both xfinity and outlook, but still kept getting the password request. Oddly, it all began the same day (8.25.23) that I requested a complete download of all my data that XF/comcast has ever used - I've been a customer off and on for over 25 years. I also have Norton and have turned off the Norton VPN to see if your fix works. I am currently waiting to see if the "update all folders" will work. It's been spinning for over 5 minutes, but at least it's no longer asking for my pw constantly.
So glad to hear that, Rhonda. Yeah, if you've had your mailbox a long time it's probably pretty large, and that "Update all folders" task can take quite a bit of time to sync everything. Hope it all works out for you!
Yes. I want to thank you. Your guidance was a lot more helpful than what I got from Comcast. I appreciate your effective suggestions. They worked.
what if outlook isn’t showing any previous or new incoming mail?
amazing. I've been trying to get my email to work forever. Thank you
Glad to hear it! You are welcome.
VERY, VERY, VERY HELPFUL! Well done. It was driving me nutty. Thanks
You are most welcome!!
Not fixing my issue, unfortunately.

ditto did not fix it for me either. However, I do use Norton. Don't want to disable because I pay for this. Not sure what to do. Very frustrating!
@@caseymae8194 If you have a current subscription with Norton, you might try reaching out to them and see if they have a way of tweaking their VPN settings (without fully disabling it) so it won't interfere with the email.
If you do end up finding a solution that way, be sure to let us know what you learn, we'll help spread the word to other Norton users. Best of luck!
Thank you Thank you THANK YOU !!!!!! I was getting so mad and your video fixed everything 😁
You're welcome, I'm so glad it helped. Have a great weekend!
Darn, didn't work for me. I'm typing in correct password, I already had xfinity setting checked. My outlook send/recieve error is : Temporarily blacklisted IP address-try again later. Been like this for 4 days, cannot use. I do have the settings for POP vs IMAP, it's always been that way. Outlook 2016
This may work for some, but not for me. Also the Norton VPN option did nothing for me.
While good info, it failed to allow me to connect to the comcast email server using O365 outlook desktop version, (which used to work) verified all the settings, ports, security settings and credentials. Wandering the barren plains of IT now :/
After updating to Microsoft's updated Windows 11 Mail Client, Comcast email stopped working. :/
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!!!
for 2024 fix also turn off two step verification before setting up email. Can setback up later
Thanks! Really helps
For those that cannot log into comcast email in 2024 with windows 11 since changing comcast password Here was my fix. CMD ADMIN prompt type ipconfig /flushdns Next type nbtstat -RR Next go into installed aps via settings and delete new outlook email app. Restart computer then go to control panel and mail and delete outook profile. delete just the files in appdata\local\temp folder skipping those that will not delete. Next delete all files in windows\temp folder skipping those that will not delete. Next delete everything you can in winddows Disk Cleanup tool . Next delete all files and folders in c:\users\username\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook folder. Restart and then load comcast from fresh using comcast imap smtp setting per xfinity. Shoud load right in.
This is a perfect remedy. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tried this and . . . no it does not work. I changed passwords and am now in never never land. The setting was already selected.
Well outlook saved the new password and synced, then stopped recognizing the new password, and now it is recognizing the new password and syncing emails.
Hmmm . . . Will the Circle be Unbroken? Hopefully this new password sticks - maybe it takes time for comcast and outlook to clear/register settings
Facing the same issue. Had already reset the password from Comcast and tried entering same password in Outlook and it's not connecting to the IMAP server. However the Web mail of Comcast is working.
@@anupamsahakolkata Mine started working after a few days of reentering the password. For the next few days, ignore the message, use the web and then maybe your Outlook on PC and iPhone will start working too.
@@davidmetzger1243 alright thank you.. I believe if we contacted comcast or Xfinity support they also cannot do anything.
Does not work for me either. Tried multiple other fixes and it won't work, then the next day it does, then goes back to not working a couple days later.
goodness ty
Thanks!
