In this video, I will explain the Haas VR-8.
When your 5-axis parts become too large to spin using rotary tables and trunnions, the VR-8 may be the ideal answer. The VR-8 will include a huge T-slot table that can accommodate big workpieces and fixtures, as well as a powerful 2-axis gimbaled spindle head that can reach almost any angle on the component for complicated forms, undercuts, and 5-side machining. The Haas VR Series machines combine an updated version of our GM-2-integrated 5AX gimbal spindle with our incredibly popular VF Series VMCs.As a consequence, an extremely adaptable and complete 5-axis machine tool has been created. When compared to prior generations of the VR Series machines, this is a radically different machine tool. The primary technological distinction is the rotating axis arrangement. To support the spindle, prior VR Series machines utilised an A-axis mounted on a B-axis, but this new version used a B-axis positioned on a C-axis.This implies that G-code programmes written for the discontinued VR machines will not work with the new models, and post-processors will need to be changed to account for the changing axis configuration.A number of technological aspects distinguish the VR Series mills from many other Haas 5-axis machines now on the market. A 20,000-rpm HSK-A63 integral-motor spindle powers the VR Series mills. This improved spindle produces 50% more power and 40% more torque than the HSK-F63 spindle used in our GM-2-5AX.More power allows for more aggressive material removal. This is much more than a finishing machine! While the high-speed spindle is best suited for cutting aluminium, composites, and other non-ferrous materials, the additional power permits cutting a wide range of steels.Modern high-efficiency milling processes can achieve balanced material removal rates. The 20,000-rpm speed enables very high surface footage, excellent finishes, and the use of tiny tools. The integral-motor spindle design enables high acceleration rates, allowing the spindle speed to be readily increased and decreased.Check the torque chart for your specific application.
