Ok being able to move the exo-skiff like that is actually pretty cool and works with the chill vibes this update brings! Good to know, thank you Sir Beeble
The expedition is just like a tutorial on fishing. I barely packed any stuff for expedition. You will get everything you need for fishing during expedition. Nice video for people who don't have time, or do not like expeditions 👍🏿
I think this is a great niche update. I've actually wanted fishing in the game for a long time and I actually like how they implemented it. The only thing I would like to be added is a aquarium to put our sea creatures in.
@@Beeblebum Yeah, I hear ya buddy. Regardless it's such a cool update and without a doubt a testing mechanic for LNF. I absolutely love what HG have done this year with updates. The past few years have been a hit and miss for me, but this year it's been fantastic.
That is so cool that you can move the skiff like that! I kind of wish it had a true piloting mechanism like a boat, but its nice to know it has the functionality it does
Excellent video Beebs! This is good to know when I start the expedition this weekend. It will most like be the only time I fish in this game. Thanhs!!!
New sub here, I recently found your building vids, man, I wish I wouldve found your channel ages ago. Also, I just started the fishing stuff this morning. Its more fun than I thought itd be lol
There's also message in a bottle function still not sure how ruobust this is but these messages give glyph locations to explore for even more rare fish I suspect. Also some fish (larger variety) can only be caught in deeper water areas. So some exploration for that perfect fishing spot is kind of required. Currently deep sea is considered around 80-100U deep, this is probably going to change with Worlds part 2. It seems the MIAB function works best with an unbaited hook and from what I've seen you can get these messages almost anywhere you can fish from. In addtion to all that: storms, climate, night / day cycle can affect what you can or can not catch. Storms present unique challenges as the skiff as well as your aquatic landing capable ship can be tossed around quite a bit in rough weather. You may find it necessary to build a shelter with floor panels missing so you can fish during these kinds of events. The traps work pretty well for catching large fish, this again will depend on placement, climate, possibly storms and the water depth the trap is place on. I had 3 placed and caught a number of big sharks in them from a first try. I think this update will only add to the exploration aspect of the game. I'm not sure at present if the MIAB function works via the fish trap as I haven't yet caught a bottle in a fish trap yet. If you're not a fan of fishing from a video game perspective I get it. It's not quite like the real thing but this variation HG has cooked up is pretty good considering the exploration element tied to it, the tracking of what you caught and largest size etc is quite interesting aspect. Due to the number of variations of fish makes it quite addictive. Time bend is a serious thing with this update if you decide to embark on becomming a pro angler in NMS.
Now, if only the Exo-Skiff wouldn't toss me off into the space water every blasted time the seas get rough. Seriously, could somebody in Britain please send a letter to Mr. Murry asking him to please put some seatbelts on that blasted space boat? Oh, and one of my cats says hi!
Golf on a planet where you can get whirlwinds throwing you up in the air would make it a special challenge to play in a storm. 😮 Low gravity planets would also be funny when you try making a putt.. 😅
Hey Jim, The Mic is a "Beacn Mic", Its a USB dynamic microphone, Which makes it cheaper than the XLR versions and does not require extra amplifiers. You can get it in Black or White. It is actually a pretty great mic, not regretted it so far.
Since the fishing flotilla moves so slow & gently, can you place it and then travel to the far side of a big ocean and set a "move-to spot," then return to the flotilla and just fish/relax as it auto-pilots across the ocean, allowing you to hit different spots without needing to stop fishing and manually guide it?
If you sell fish constantly in the same system, you will start crashing the market, and the values will drop. Best to sell to Pilots only if you want to avoid this, or sell them in another system.
I have noticed this as well. When you try to sell fish, at any trade terminal, haven't tried NPCs yet, that the value is always at least -30 to -40%. Much like the navigation data is. Maybe there is Avery rare terminal that might over a positive price but I haven't found one for fish yet. I don't play with multi-player enable at all and I wasn't in the expedition. It maybe a bug or it may be by design to encourage people to cook them or to release them.
In the Expedition my cold storage capacity seems to be a LOT larger than 10 slots. I think it has about 50, or more -- can't remember. So I don't know if this is expanded just for the expedition, and it will revert to 10 when you're not on expedition -- or if there are different expansion upgrades that will allow the cold storage to increase.
I don't know either... Wondering, because the Expedition is so fishing heavy they decided to give us more slots... Honestly feel there is no reason to restrict it to 10, as you can only put fish and bait in it..
Hey man , was wondering about the messages you get on the angler's messages in a bottle. They have some stellar coordinates on them where do those take you, i have been able to get them yet because i dont have all 16 glyphs
Time to build a dock on a paradise planet and retire I guess. Btw traps work on 1 hour fishing cycle. For context, while I dropped one and checked about every 10 minutes or so, no fishes were caught. On the next hours there were fishes. To my knowledge you can build 3 per planet. Or this is what the expedition mission said.
@@Beeblebum Perhaps, but not sure how much is deeper. For example mine were near my base for the expedition, which was on 32m deep. And catching fish in deeper water seemed to yield better results. However this is only anecdotal evidence from my experience so far for ~200 catches.
Beeble, help How do you setting up pulse drive of turn off the light effect. every time I'm in space pulse driving it's like there's a myriad of Blaster gun's bullet into my eyes, very uncomfortable
I'm curious about the mechincs behind fishing. Like does being on the skiff have any effect, or "trolling" (fishing while the skiff is moving)? What impact does water depth or wave size have? Does moving the rod or jiggling the bait with the trigger have any effect? 🤔
hi, i put my exo skiff in the the water and try it out. Now i like to move the exo skill on another planet. How do i delete it. so i can put it on another planet to use it again?
No sadly not - the fishing in NMS is more of a minigame, where you collect "Cards" of your catches and get it logged into your wonders catalogue. The fish you catch are not physically in game, so they wont show as an existing asset when releasing them.
Why does your skiff only come with 10 slots? I don’t know the exact number off the top of my head, but the skiff I installed during the expedition came with a butt ton of storage.
While the fishing is a nice addition to the game, I am seriously disappointed by the skiff. When I first heard about it I thought that finally we were getting a proper boat exocraft. Just imagine exploring worlds in a solarsail yacht or even a small speedboat type of craft.
Like many of the side missions/quest - Minigames, much of these are not fleshed out. They are just testing fishing for Light No Fire.. And we got a piece of it for NMS
New Mission? You mean New Expedition? Yes - A purely Fishing focused Expedition... But the Deep Sea Armor suit is pretty cool - So gonna have to fish for it. 😂

Moving the skiff and cleaning traps before collecting are two I didn't know. Thanks!
I got an S-Class jellyfish called Glass Angel. The release got me between 438-582 nanites for each
