I havent tested this yet, but it got me into trying NMS again, is there any incentive to fishing, like is there an actual gameplay reason to do it? Or is it just for fun etc, what would be cool is if the cooking recipes added some sorts of buffs that would actually be handy, im not sure if they already do

Them adding fishing this late confirms for me that these last batch of updates are to test features that are going to be in Light no Fire. That's why they completly changed the water, effects, etc.
It’s a brilliant strategy. NMS players get a new activity and LNF is going to be a bit more polished when it launches since devs can gather feedback and fix bugs.
The exoskiff does have one use if you summon it on land: It does seem that while you are on the platform you are considered indoors, So you could use it to recharge your environment shield while still keeping somewhat mobile
On land maybe. On the water I am not protected by any means. By the ocean nor weather elements. It's literally just a storage box if you have frequent storms Edit: hoping it gets fixed. But I'm fine just having a place to store fish for now. My home worlds lacks storms anyways. And I can't wait to fish all sorts of climates!
I enjoyed fishing with my friend in Warframe. I told him he's got to try NMS's version of fishing. We're into the relaxation of it all. With the water improvements and the wave sounds, it's heaven.
The more I play around with this update, the more I am absolutely loving it. All kinds of different recipes coming from cooking up the fish - which have all kinds of different attributes as bait, then final combined foods that have some great stats, some rare fish that are worth a ton of units, and just the rest of the mechanics overall. What a ton of fun! :)
What we need now is a bait maker room for freighter and a bait maker for base plan. I also would like to add food venues at space stations and bodegas on planets that give you cooking missions and are rewarded with recipes, bait, and quiksilver

Greetings Jason. Hi everyone. I would recommend to install the fishing rod on a second multi-tool. So it doesn't bother you when you have to switch quickly between your weapons on your main multi-tool.
16:00 With a mouse (at least) you can adjust the amount of bait added down to 10 (if the stack is larger than 10), else the whole 1-9 sack is added. I would guess other controllers can adjust as well.
While the exoskiff is nice and all, during waves it's unstable and waves stop the fishing process. Ship works way better. Only thing I am missing is the cold storage, but with matter beam I have all the storage I need on my freighter. And ship also recharges shields when I go inside.
@@vincentebanks3464 I did not. Ship was nice enough to fish from and easy escape if tornado takes me for a spin during storms. Exoskiff might prevent that if it's on top of the ship.
Maybe they change the model of the hovercraft (unlikely but more doubt they'd add a new craft) or they could give it a solar sail installable tech (that puts a sail on top) and gives more speed, fuel recharge and unlimited boost or smthn. also nice if they put a little seat or piece on its side that you could sit/stand on...
On PC at least, I found it faster to change baits by opening the multitool tab and changing it directly on the "fishing rig" installed on the multitool There is a new section for fishing records under the knowledge(?) tab. There are about 20 or so unique fish per system type: irradiated, hot, cold, humid, haunted, etc., and another 20 that are common all types for all of us who like to fill up checklists.
Been trying to see if there is a augment you can catch or something to increase cooler size. So far it seems it's not in game yet. Maybe it's a future quest or something.
The outlines in inventories are meaningless. They do not mean that they can be expanded to that. They simply have minimums (in this case 10x6) & they expand if slots are added that go outside those minimum boundaries. But if there are 60 slots in expedition, then I'd guess that in this particular case, there are actually meant to be 60 (and it's likely just a bug that normal mode currently only has 10).
This was a more relaxing expedition and I’m all for it but with that being said we only got 4 pieces of the armor and missing the arms? I don’t see them in the rewards?
Jason, how did you get so much damage potential on your multitool?? 37 is insane. Should I have gotten an S class multitool to begin with instead of upgrading a B class?? Or is it special tech you have added like the sentinel and X ones? What did you do?
Also if they let us increase our storage space on our Exo Skiffs. The Skiff during the Expedition has like 60 storage slots but the one we get in the main game after we complete the Expedition only has like 10 storage slots.
Having an exclamation point on a module is not a good thing. Anytime you add more than 3 modules of any one type you will get an exclamation point on all of them until you remove the extras. Having too many modules degrades performance of all of them.
So the Skiff does NOT protect you entirely from the storms. I just went through one, waves knock me off the skiff and I still need to keep recharging my Exosuit- didn't have any tornados so not sure if it would have kept me from getting swept up.
You can find crashed Sentinel Interceptors on planets with corrupted sentinels. Look for systems that have "Dissonant" instead of "Water". And once in those systems, looks for planets that say "Dissonance Detected". this planets are filled with corrupted Sentinels and you have to do a few things to find a crashed Interceptor. It basically turns into a little mini side quest to fix it. Once one the planet, you want to look for Dissonance Resonators. You can use your "locating" feature of your scanner to help you find them. They look kinda like corrupted sentinel mineral extractors. If you destroy one...it will give you either an Inverted Mirror or and Echo Locator. If you get an Echo Locator, use it and should give you a waypoint for an abandoned Harmonic Camp. At the camp, you will find a terminal that you have to solve a rather easy glyphic puzzle to unlock. Once you unlock it, you get two options. The first is to unlock a harmonic Sentinel themed multi-tool in the camp that you can collect for free. The other option you can pick is to locate a Dissonance Spike. (You can do both, you don't have to pick one or the other). When you locate a Dissonance Spike, it will give you a waypoint to a crashed Sentinel Interceptor ship. Once you get the ship, you clear out a few items from it including this item called a Hyaline Brain. Activate the brain and it will give you a waypoint to some nearby ancient monolith location that you take the brain to that will let you turn it into a Harmonic Brain. Take the brain back to the ship along with an Inverted Mirror and some Radiant Shards (you can mine these from large purple crystals on the planet) and this lets you take the Interceptor and make it into a personal starship.
You can't. You have to have the fish in your inventory or your ship's inventory to sell them from a trade terminal. Or, if you are on a planet's surface, you can load up a Trade Rocket with them and sell them that way.
Guys i dont have rhe magpulse lure to build. Ive looked in spacestation/anomoly cant seem to find the blueprint for expedition :( please help a new player haha
I've not noticed that bait does anything really. I spent forever trying to get the large fish. Went to deep water, used meaty chunks for 24% improvement in size, and got nothing but small and medium fish. I like the idea but the execution leaves me falling asleep trying to get these specialized fish. Been through 4 storms and not 1 fish related to storms. I'm thinkin i'm doing something wrong.
Watched your stream yesterday, before you figured out moving the skiff. Actually like the way works, it feels like trolling. Got in a bit last night, ran the expedition until I caught a couple fish. Like everything else in NMS except piloting (LOL) the experience is even more amazing in VR. Starting to feel a need for a vid card upgrade LOL Thanks for the great vid and info! Man I am just ticked at NMS right now. Two days fishing on six different STORM planets with Extreme storm conditions. and NOTHING. 48 hours trying to finish this last quest and NOTHING. I am about done with this this crappy expedition. I have even tried every bait available and still NOTHING
This has been the dumbest expedition i love the update love the fishing but ive been fishing for four hours for 3 storms fish to finish this expediton i have 2 and have been one the same planet fishing and the drop rate is so stupid , literally nearly four hours for one step , i had the whole expedition done expect for this one step in 5 hours!
@imchillyb It is not about the speed exactly it's the ratio of time to progression if I can do every step of the expedition in 5 hours but the final step is locked behind what seems to me to be a bugged spawn rate which kept me fishing on the same planet for 4 hours om it's own , taking the total playtime to 9 hours I think I have right to be annoyed about it , having played almost every expedition, this one was great apart from that one step , possibly the worst step of any expedition I have done
Seems they are testing the next game mechanics in this engine? Still this is one of the first updates where i have zero interest. I'm happy others are finding it interesting, but real or virtual, fishing is not fun for me...

Did not know you could move it! As I was playing I was wishing there was a way to move it! Happy it's slow too! Kinda like a trolling motor!

I have not experienced environmental protection. My hazard shields still run out.

I'm on switch haven't tested out the up date. Have you tried placing the platform on the ship.

The skiff cold storage has 10 slots. Is there a way to increase the cold storage inventory slots?
How do upgrade the skiff storage. In the exhibition i had all slots unlocked. In the actual game there is only 1 row 😐

the only thing stopping me from playing this game is the UI, its just not nice to look at.
Next update we'll get a commercial fishing boat that can hire locals and set up your own fleet and kill all the space whales while you sleep ❤
There are automatic fishing bouys, up to 3 per planet, 4 fish slots per bouy, so upto 12 fish to collect each visit.

Fishing is about the journey not the finish.
If you’re only interested in a finish, then maybe racing is your thing and not fishing,
