He also sings it along with Confessa in the Singer 2017, a little differently than this version. I like both. The Singer 2017 is where he exploded in popularity. This was in China, where he was the first non Chinese invited to participate in a competition with Chinese established performers....supposedly for one or two performances as a wild card guest. He was only 22. He opened the season with the first performance of SOS sung in French, before the others, & he shocked everyone. The next day he found his hotel surrounded by security.....his performance brought 650 million views overnight! Second performance was an impish Dimash singing Opera2 where his dad was secretly in the audience, & afterwards the reunion was really lovely to see. Dimash was in a totally new country, without knowing any of the language, one interpreter, & he got homesick. So they got in touch with his dad who came to support him. Some songs on that program have back stories which are needed to help us understand the meanings more fully.....Autumn Strong, & Daybreak, to name a couple.

This is well stated! I also want to say thank you for jumping into his music. He is an independent artist working overtime to make his stand here in the US. That's a difficult endeavor as you no doubt are aware. So, it's always wonderful to see good people such as yourselves discovering him and helping others to do the same. One song I’m particular is The Story of One Sky, he wrote and composed it and took 3 years to make. There is a music video which is 12 minutes long. 🙌 🎉👏 👍Dimash has dedicated and given everything to his singing since the age of 5 - he sang before, but began his formal music education at age 5. Never drinks, smokes or takes drugs ever as it would hurt his voice...he said in an interview he has only been in a night club twice....he lives, breaths and sleeps singing....he drew a picture for his parents at age 3 or 4 of him on a big stage with sound equipment and instruments singing. He is the living breathing example of dedication, devotion, determination and consistently applied day in and day out focused effort to achieve one's dreams, and boy has this kid gone beyond anything ever known or heard of by man...including 2 notes that he sings that are off the top of the piano, the piano does not have enough keys for DQ's vocal range!!

I love his voice, his skills on stage, his feelings for sounds and rhythm. But what impresses me the most is that he never puts himself above others and understands spirituality. He's out of the zeitgeist and that's - for me - what's special. When a journalist asks him a question, he actually thinks and answers the question seriously. Haha, I know what you mean but that’s stylistically Peking Opera with regard to dan/nan performances. I love this performance - as with most things tastes are subjective. You’ll find different performances for the same song are also very impressive and something different, even if you’ve heard the song before, he’s that good! For example his latest RUclips release on a Chinese TV show recently is a Kazakh folk song which we’ve all heard him perform lots of times before, this time he started off with the folk and went into Jazz style (incredible Jazz runs!), so he even surprises those of us who have seen everything he’s ever performed! I was Dimashed about 3 years ago and I've yet to hear him repeat a single song exactly the same way twice. And each time is utterly breathtaking. I absolutely agree with these choices and order of listening. Great start to the Dimash rabbit hole we all become a part of.

Dimash has an extremely wide vocal range, which is quite impressive; but that’s not what defines him. He sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself.
Besides, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help (SOS), a yearning (Samaltau), or to express pain or loss (The Story of One Sky). Dimash, being a composer himself (“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн, The Story of One Sky, El Amor en Ti…), knows how the song he interprets must be delivered. Indeed, what I love about Dimash is that he does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story.
In short, he’s not only a masterful vocalist - It’s precisely thanks to his mastery that Dimash is able to freely dive, and tap, into his emotions; but he’s also a great storyteller. What I love about him as well is the way he immerses himself in the songs he sings.
Also, please know that Dimash is indeed classically trained - he even declined a position as an opera singer when he was only 22, and has absolute pitch (a rare cognitive trait by the way) which was discovered when he was only 5 years old.

He also sings it along with Confessa in the Singer 2017, a little differently than this version. I like both.
The Singer 2017 is where he exploded in popularity. This was in China, where he was the first non Chinese invited to participate in a competition with Chinese established performers....supposedly for one or two performances as a wild card guest. He was only 22.
He opened the season with the first performance of SOS sung in French, before the others, & he shocked everyone. The next day he found his hotel surrounded by security.....his performance brought 650 million views overnight!
Second performance was an impish Dimash singing Opera2 where his dad was secretly in the audience, & afterwards the reunion was really lovely to see. Dimash was in a totally new country, without knowing any of the language, one interpreter, & he got homesick. So they got in touch with his dad who came to support him.
Some songs on that program have back stories which are needed to help us understand the meanings more fully.....Autumn Strong, & Daybreak, to name a couple.

This is well stated! I also want to say thank you for jumping into his music. He is an independent artist working overtime to make his stand here in the US. 🙌 🎉👏 👍Dimash has dedicated and given everything to his singing since the age of 5 - he sang before, but began his formal music education at age 5. Never drinks, smokes or takes drugs ever as it would hurt his voice...he said in an interview he has only been in a night club twice....he lives, breaths and sleeps singing....he drew a picture for his parents at age 3 or 4 of him on a big stage with sound equipment and instruments singing. He is the living breathing example of dedication, devotion, determination and consistently applied day in and day out focused effort to achieve one's dreams, and boy has this kid gone beyond anything ever known or heard of by man...including 2 notes that he sings that are off the top of the piano, the piano does not have enough keys for DQ's vocal range!!

After four years of listening to Dimash (my first exposure was Opera 2) nearly on a daily basis, no matter how many times I hear one of his songs I still break out in goosebumps. Thanks for the great reaction! All of Dimash’s performances of this song are amazing! He sometimes does a D7 whistle note instead of the 13 note run down, that’s also crazy. You’ll find different performances for the same song are also very impressive and something different, even if you’ve heard the song before, he’s that good! For example his latest RUclips release on a Chinese TV show recently is a Kazakh folk song which we’ve all heard him perform lots of times before, this time he started off with the folk and went into Jazz style (incredible Jazz runs!), so he even surprises those of us who have seen everything he’s ever performed! Your next three songs should be SOS (in French), Dimash’s cover of a song that made him famous, my favourite performance by far is at the Slavic Bazaar in 2018. Then Sinful Passion (in Russian) at Sochi in 2018 (be sure to watch until the end to see what a humble person he is). Then Stranger (in English) at New Wave 2021, written for Dimash by famous multi billionaire composer/music mogul Igor Krutoy (on piano).
Dimash is also an amazing composer in his own right, his own songs are incredible! You’ll get to those masterpieces too, no doubt!
I was Dimashed about 3 years ago and I've yet to hear him repeat a single song exactly the same way twice. And each time is utterly breathtaking.
