FYI: For those who really want to step up into dedicated lab grade equipment know that that’s available also.
To be fair those gray Ball lids were never intended to be used in autoclaves/pressure cookers, Ball even included the warning “NOT FOR PRESERVING” right inside the lid!
This is TRUE! I've said this in the past to others.
Pro Tip: The cheap plastic lids work just fine if you put a 1" silicone band (bracelet) around the outside gap between the lid and jar.

🍄💙And many thanks for the shoutout and review. Real quick, our Ball lids have a "no leak" gasket built into it. Adding an additional gasket causes gaps so we don't include that with that lid. We offer an even less expensive option that we offer a gasket with if requested. Our aim is to provide cost-effective options for those that don't have the money to spend on other products. The other 2 lids Willy Myco talked about are great options, and we have mad love for all these companies. We're just super stoked to even be talked about by a myco legend! You should start thowing in a 1" silicone band (bracelet) to use on the outside as a gasket/seal. I'm sure you have been informed of this concern and the simple solution that has been developed over the years.
Sick lids. The no leak option holds solid over many pc seassions. Highly recommeneded

Dave Wombat froze a bunch of colonized grain jars before a big move. A few months later, thawed them out and only lost about 10% if i remember right. Im now freezing jars that i want to wait before spawning to bulk.

Can we over cook our LC? I did mine 45 min and Karo goes dark, decarbs. I did it ten mins. Still clear. I notice agar explodes on clear LC better compared to darker syrup.
I noticed that when mycelium in a liquid culture expands to the top of the liquid (or floats) it gets stiff and forms black spots. Is the culture below contaminated or is it still viable. Does the drying out of the mycelium form the black spots or is it contamination?

I can make these lids (without injection molding) for about a $1 a piece. Amazon. It’s amazing. However, didn’t think about the stir bar. I’m probably gonna change the length of my tube now. Good comment!!
Typically you want to have the lid loose in the Pressure Cooker so it doesnt blow up, right?

Hey fam, I'm new to mycolgy and my first spawn to bulk went amazing. Once I started fruiting conditions I started seeing the water beads and everything looked great then pins, past 2 weeks it has just stalled and is doing nothing. 1 tiny mushroom stayed the same size. I'm in 66qt monotub. Any help would be great temp between 69 to 75. Always moisture on walls.
Sounds like not enough FAE to simulate an evaporation effect.

So the discount code won’t work for the the lids through browntreasure.com but it’ll apply towards anything else you buy. They are pretty much selling the lids at cost ( even cheap than the manufacturer) to help ppl out so they can’t discount them or they will lose $$ on each sale, but I’ll work for any other items. Sorry I meant to mention this in the vid but I completely forgot.
