    I typically love these isometric rpgs, but many of them seem boring when the choice is just the usual "Good vs Evil" options. The branching style of this game sounds awesome.

    • @Smylesss
      @Smylesss 2 года назад +3

      I don't mind good vs evil, so long as it's not entirely clear who is good and who is evil. DOS2 is kinda a decent example of this, where no matter what you do you're damning some group of people. Pillars of Eternity 1 is the same way to a certain extent with some of the factions.

      I don't know why people don't like clear-cut good and evil. It's been a proven story-telling device for 5,000 years. This shades of gray mentality is actually a very recent trend, probably started by Thanos and Game of Thrones.

    • @matternicuss
      @matternicuss 3 месяца назад

      @@One.Zero.One101 Nah, we’ve had morally ambiguous characters in storytelling for a long, long time. At least in Western literature. Shakespear’s plays were full of characters like that (especially Hamlet) and in the 20th Century we had a whole genre of film dedicated to morally grey characters and situations (noir).
      Black and white depictions of good and evil were usually reserved for stories aimed at younger audiences (especially young children). Like fairy tales, which is what Tolkienesque Fantasy largely derives from. Though even LotR had morally grey characters (Smeagol/Gollum).
      Though I’d argue Robert E Howard’s Conan helped popularize morally grey characters in fantasy. Sword and Sorcery was around long before GRRM’s novels.

      specifically, the way it works is for every 2 points you put into intelligence, at any time, you get an extra skill point. if you put in 10 points when you first make your character, you get 5 skill points extra to start with. if you start with 5 int you get 2 extra at start, and then if put a point into it on your 10th levelup.. you get one extra skill point.

    Honestly, I dont play these turn based games, and this definitely has a learning curve at the beginning . . . but once you get the hang of it, damn its entertaining. Im rushing through the game right now and am just to finished a 12 hour straight marathon. Can't wait to play this again but when its patched more and paying attention to the plot. I give it a very strong 8, leaning towards 9, but don't feel like it's done enough for that.

    uh, survival doesn't reduce the number of encounters, it reduces the number of encounters you can't escape from. large difference. now you get the option of avoiding the encounter instead. which 9/10 (combat encounters) you probably will want to do, since you really don't need the extra xp, and most the things you get from randoms are junk.

    Wasteland 2 had game breaking bug, after over 100 hours of playing and meticulously building my custom characters I became stuck in a battle where it was the enemies turn, but the enemy was bugged out in infinite loop climb up and down a ladder. The game saved during the fight and every time I loaded the game the same enemy would get stuck on the same ladder. No way to continue and my last save was hours before. I gave up on waste-of-time 2.

    Been trying to play it since it dropped via Gamepass on PC. I'm one of the sad ones who can't get a work around for the no save issue. Waiting on a patch. I think I'm biased for this game though, I live in a city called Pueblo which is the next major city south of Colorado Springs. I've never played a video game that took place in my stomping grounds. HZD was close, but it was more northern.

I pre-ordered it in February as a birthday present to myself (Before it was announced that delays would make it come more then a quarter of a year after my birthday instead of around my birthday) Wasteland 1 was the second RPG I played and I can't wait to see what we face in Colorado. I wonder how many new guns there will be in this one? 2's gun inventory was weird because some of the guns from the first game were missing and there were World War II era guns refit for different ammo types added.

    The game looks solid. Hopefully it won't go stale as Wasteland 2 was at times. Also some of the skills in Wasteland 2 were objectively more useful than others, but you could not know that until you've already put some hours into the game(or read a guide). It was made with the Unity engine which explains the performance issues. The 2nd one was the same way - it made the CPU and GPU work harder than it had the right to do so compared to the graphics quality it offered.

    Almost 2022, and this game is still busted. Broken coop, particle effe ts that spike the computer, encounters that aggro the entire map (Denver Ruins), audio bugging out and dragging the performance, random encounters that doesn't trigger combat forcing a reload of an older save, and more. This game has some bad design, as well as performance issues that were never addressed.

    In all seriousness there were no repercussions for like 99% of your decisions in Wasteland 2, the game was very VERY light on the RPG part of cRPG, sure there were choices you had to make between missions and those had consequences but the dialogue trees were very basic and there was little to no reactivity, which is what Fallout 1&2 are known for. I was disappointed by Wasteland 2. I'd like to hear reviewers talk about how Wasteland 3 stacks up.
