Idk man I really hated this game, I played maybe 15 hours or so on gamepass and got so unbelievably bored of it. It just felt like a soulless attempt at cloning the fallout new vegas formula, the game felt so average I just really found myself not enjoying myself alot with how cliche and expected literally everything I encountered was. Absolutely not worth 80 dollars in my eyes thats grossly overpriced.
Yep soulless, a looter shooter with mid gun mechanics and nothing worth looting. No enemy variety, a plot that can't take itself seriously. Honestly I don't see what there is to love about the game

@@kyaramerukingu2436 After playing Outer Worlds for a while, I would say they are both very skills and perks focused, as well as lots of dialogue options. Additionally, party members with certain skills and perks play roles both in the world and in certain encounters with NPCs. Stat building and role playing are a big part. KOTOR 2 was a third person strategy-ish combat game, while Outer Worlds is merely 1st person with shooting mechanics
One thing I wonder is if Obsidian gets annoyed that this will inevitably be compared to New Vegas or if they view that game as their story-telling benchmark and are proud of the comparisons.
Only bug I've seen so far is an audio bug that may just be chalked up to performance since my specs aren't crazy up to date, but it's seriously great! Pick it up
I think the devs really let the writers have so much fun. The dialogue is fantastic, and the character attitudes are unique and often hilarious. I’ve laughed a lot so far, in a game that’s also serious about strategy. It’s a perfect mix! I would recommend to everyone. Furthermore, the game seems overwhelming in the beginning and it doesn’t care. I love that. It almost says “play me again, you’ll have more fun the second time.” 9/10, just buy it. I promise, it should have you cracking up. It feels like an updated Fallout 3, where the story writers were given the reins and told “just do you.” Get it!
I am loving this game but I really wish it was easier to pick up individual items on the ground (not in chests or lockers). Also, I REALLY wish you could set games like this to always pick up money and ammo. Why would you ever not want those things?
On gamepass, I wonder about that. It is way cheaper for a consumer, but this is Obsidian's real chance to shine independently and they seem to have done great, so I kinda feel bad just getting gamepass instead of paying full price and supporting the devs.
Obsidian talking about TOW on release day: "I guess you could say... It Just Works!" Bethesda: "That's alright then. Just means we get more hard-drive space for our patches"

You know, since i discovered you as a reviewer, i din't think you could improve (cuz you were that good), but the way you've evolved your (likable) formulaic linear structured reviews that cover all bases you have massively improved the segueys between sections. it almost belies your thoroughness¬! love ya man, rock on
Well said couldnt agreee more
Idk man I really hated this game, I played maybe 15 hours or so on gamepass and got so unbelievably bored of it.
It just felt like a soulless attempt at cloning the fallout new vegas formula, the game felt so average I just really found myself not enjoying myself alot with how cliche and expected literally everything I encountered was.
Absolutely not worth 80 dollars in my eyes thats grossly overpriced.
yup.
Yep soulless, a looter shooter with mid gun mechanics and nothing worth looting. No enemy variety, a plot that can't take itself seriously. Honestly I don't see what there is to love about the game
The option to take off your companion’s helmet is in the settings.
Thanks for posting this. I keep wanting to shoot them.
Oh my god thank you for this!!!
Is that in the options? I just thought that added that to see the reaction when they have”cutscenes” with other names characters.
I'm so happy to hear Joe Bob is taking care of One Legged Sue. I was worried.
Taking take?
@@TheALPHA1550 Hah, yeah, typos are the bane of my existence.
“The gun play just works.”
“It just works.”
- Todd Howard (Fallout 76 presentation)
Hmm...
Nah
13:30 "Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. How are you?"
I see what you did there
Cap: "I understood that reference"
As little as I care for Family Guy now their first Star Wars parody was well done.
Obsidian: *Releases game with no bugs*
Bethesda: “That’s a bold move Cotton, let’s see how it turns out for him.”
I got a trial $1 3month XGP subscription.
It runs pretty well and quite optimized. Running on my low-mid range PC, it runs fairly stable at 50-60fps @ 1080p on Ultra settings.
i5 3570k, RX 580, 16GB RAM
It hovers 60% CPU usage and 100% GPU usage.
I'll buy the game on Switch when it comes out (to support the devs).
"and Fox actually supporting it." Why you breaking my heart so early in the vid, man? I gotta go see my first client today, can't be cryin when I get there.
What?
5:35 Corporate Commander has returned quick someone get Angry Joe
a box of ammo was floating, that was the ONLY bug I saw after finishing the game with 38 hours of gameplay
this is the most reliable, well written video game review channel on RUclips
i always find it weird that you don't have more subscribers lol you're a reliable reviewer and deserve way more credit.
KOTOR 2 The Sith Lords: "Am I a joke to you?"
What are the similarities?
@@kyaramerukingu2436 After playing Outer Worlds for a while, I would say they are both very skills and perks focused, as well as lots of dialogue options. Additionally, party members with certain skills and perks play roles both in the world and in certain encounters with NPCs. Stat building and role playing are a big part. KOTOR 2 was a third person strategy-ish combat game, while Outer Worlds is merely 1st person with shooting mechanics
Hey, just wanted to say I’m proud of your growth!
Im already sick of seeing nyoka shoot that god damn mini gun and i havent even played the game yet LOL
You're funny. Great writing and timing on your delivery. Top Notch! 👍
One thing I wonder is if Obsidian gets annoyed that this will inevitably be compared to New Vegas or if they view that game as their story-telling benchmark and are proud of the comparisons.
ACG: Very few bugs
Bethesda: *IS IT POSSIBLE TO LEARN THIS POWER?*
"Not from Todd Howard."
Finally, my favorite reviewer spills the beans on The Outer Worlds.
Ear: yo I’m gonna be translucent when In light, y’all wanna join?
Rest of the face: NO
Well, it looks like the whole face gets a bit of subsurface scattering. It's just waaaay overdone on the ears.
It looks so bad.
@@creopictures it's because the dialog system triggers a custom light so a shader that looks fine in gameplay with this light may be too much
Only bug I've seen so far is an audio bug that may just be chalked up to performance since my specs aren't crazy up to date, but it's seriously great! Pick it up
This game was awful for me. I thought I’d love it.
Same, the humor falls flat, I think it’s ugly, the skills/perks are boring, combat sucks…it just wasn’t very fun to play. Very disappointing.
People really view anything Obsidian does with rose-tinted glasses. This game was simply not fun to play.
Can we all just take a minute and appreciate how rare it is for a AAA game release to be BUG FREE. That hasn't happened in a long time.
Remaster fallout nv with the outer worlds engine!
You're dead, shut up.
Or nv 2 we don't need the same story again
@@ironsharkpa1026 damn
Gauge 500 fonv without gamebreaking bugs and youd pass?
impossible, The new engine simply does not work with Fallout gameplay.
"I'm just two promotions away from....on-the-job bathroom breaks"
😌
I'm looking at you Amazon!
It almost says “play me again, you’ll have more fun the second time.”
9/10, just buy it.
"Up and just Marty Jannetty's them". I got the reference and lol'd.
A lot of the nitpicks in this review have been fixed incase anyone thinks they're a deal breaker...For some dumb reason
Yeah, it's in great state now. I finished recording recently and barely encountered any bugs (except for enemies that are literally bugs 😏)
That ACG laugh killed me!! 😂😂😂
Another quality review my friend 👌🏿
"... Sling out your smoke wagon like your about go full postal..." I've never laughed so hard out of all your videos.
13:26 is this a reference or nod of sorts to the humorous way you can troll the Enclave soldier in F02 when in Gecko? If so, love it.
It Just Works!"
Bethesda: "That's alright then. Just means we get more hard-drive space for our patches"
This is the best game I've played since new vegas
wow ive never watched one of your videos and the writing in this video was really fun and interesting, it was really good. i dont even know how to describe it i just really really enjoyed the narration on this video
Man. You're definitely my favorite reviewer. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks for this review. I was a little apprehensive buying this but your review gave me confidence I knew what I was buying and I’m loving it so far.
As an aside, I liked the non-open world. I haven’t felt constrained so far and it sort of reminded me of the way the original kotor managed a variety of maps and worlds just on a grander scale.
5:30 "Corporate Commander". Angry Joe is gonna freak out.
This is also coming to the Switch in the future (as they stated "after all other platforms").
That's gonna dry up soon as the switch won't be able to handle next gen games and it's resold remade and ported to death everything else
@@WASD-MVME this comment makes no sense, so how is the Witcher 3 on the switch? I have a PS4 and a Switch and I'll be getting it for the switch. To each their own though, if you want better graphics then that's good, but I prefer portability. Obsidian sees the plus of porting it to the switch and confident that they won't drop the ball like EA
@@WASD-MVME Bruh the Wii still has titles developed for it today and those things work on AV cables.
@@notrybro the Wii you seriously brought the Wii out for your argument haha ok buddy
Yeah, can't wait. I feel like a rpg game like this would be perfect for the switch, hopefully it doesn't get downgraded too much.
Always dig your witty commentary and in depth reviews without dragging it out. Good work, ole chap!
GREAT review. Stellar writing, non biased takes on VERY important matters. You nailed this one. Thank you.
