I’m not sure why but I assumed that the dlc was going to be free for ultimate subscribers like the base game was. I think I’m going to pass until it’s on sale some time down the road.
While I really enjoyed my time with this game, I feel like this dlc should’ve been part of the main game. There was just by a small margin too little content in the game
That's an issue of their tight funding and release frame with the publisher. Obsidian prior to Microsoft, has always been under the wire to complete games that have nearly killed them. A lot of stuff was either cut or left unfinished in order to release it relatively bug free. It's going to be interesting to see how they do going forward with proper funding and longer development times.
@@SilentSpringz I don't think the game's issues are really about size, but pacing and not fulfilling high expectations. If each planet hub zone were the size of Emerald Valley, it would have felt better contained and yet big enough for a fun romp as we leap from planet to planet. Some of the locations are too linear and limiting in what you can do, like Auntie Cleo's Rose Water, or too big and wide like Monarch (This place at first was fun, but I found it exhausting after a while). This first installment is far from perfect, needs more time for future additions, but I wouldn't resort to a number score to dismiss it. Some games really are subjective, in that for many this game sucks due to size and so-so combat, whereas for me and others we want the quests, humor/story, and choices. I'm not getting good story and choices from Fallout 76, but I am in The Outer Worlds. I went in knowing this game wasn't going to be the second coming of Christ, I kept my expectations within a reasonable frame of reference. This being said, they need to really need to improve on combat and other areas for future games. They get a pass from me this time, but with proper funding and longer dev times now, they need to bring more.
I had a good time with this game but was very disappointed in the physical world and creatures. I never felt rewarded for exploring the way other similar style games do.
this is my 4th major fire so far, and that orange sky, red sun, still inspires awe. that and the forest of orange night lights stretching out for what seems forever. at least it isn't burning 1 mile from my home this time.
The Outer Worlds was an alright game. I feel that it ended oddly abruptly, although that may just be because of my choices. I think it was overhyped as this epic RPG that some claimed it was
It was so long ago so I don't remember exactly what happened, but one of the end missions was just messed up because of the choices I made. I remember talking to the Director and I should of had another option to do something else, but there wasn't another option. It completely took me out of the story at the end because it felt like they accidentally forgot to add a secondary choice. I was so confused and other people started talking about it.
Agreed. It just didn't work for me at all. I wasn't really interested in the story, most of the quests bored me, the combat was shallow and didn't feel good at all. A lot of good ideas, and I appreciate that some people liked it, but I just couldn't get it going.
I wish I could be excited for more Outer Worlds stuff... but the original campaign just turned me off so hard. It's so... short. When you think it's finally taking off with one heck of a "heist", the game just... ends.
Something was off for me with this game. I admit I was pretty excited as a fan of Bethesda Fallout and especially FONV. Yet, it left me kinda disappointed. I’ll wait for a season pass to go on sale TBH. $15 for a couple more hours is a no for me.
As someone who thoroughly enjoyed playing The Outer Worlds and has finished the single player campaign numerous times, I've definitely been looking forward to its DLC Peril on Gorgon. It lasts between 6-8 hours, which is pretty impressive for a game that took me 30-35 hours to complete for each playthrough. Otherwise, thanks once again Karak for another honest, unbiased and informative review. I really appreciate the hard work. Keep it up!
Yeah, the fires in Oregon are getting kinda scary. My mom and sister just had to evacuate because there's a fire getting unnervingly close to where they were at. I'm closer to the portland area, so there isn't much going on up here.
As some who spents all day working in the somke from those oregon fires. I have to say thanks for still getting stuff out to us fans. I've enjoyed you're review stile for years now and wish you luck. Awesome review by the way I obsidian has a special place in my heart and I love that they're still making quality content.
The first 8-10 hours of this game is amazing, esp. the groundbreaker. But the rest is just OK. Seems the DLC continues that quality trend of the 2nd half of the game.
Stay safe Karak! Hope it doesn’t get too close to you. Yesterday I drove home from Cali and I had to dodge closures on both highway 97 and I-5. Was driving through smoke and falling ash almost all the way up the 5.

The good move would have been to make a DLC where you have to play Hawthorne(?), the smuggler crushed by the player when he arrives on the first planet. That way there would have been no problem for returning players who didn't found the game that memorable... I understand it's a complete different story but I can barely remember the original plot, the characters of my crew or the gameplay mechanics of the game. This DLC comes way to late...
I honestly love this game. But my only issues are the lack of armor variety and weapon variety. But there should’ve been some more new armor models and more new weapon models. Like even one new model for each weapon type(rifle, pistol, heavy, 1h/2h melee) I understand the budget excuse but some of it seems lazy and a lack of creativity. Also new companions specials would’ve been dope or a team special or something like each combination of companions has a dual special. And 3rd person mode would be much appreciated at least for melee 🤷🏽♂️ P.E.T in third person would be craaaazy
This is exactly how I felt at the time, but after Starfield I went back to TOW and I actually really appreciate that they scaled back so they could deliver a more polished product. It's more dense than New Vegas, and I think both games use their limited spaces really well.
More of the same is all I want. Fine by me. I was stuck in the final mission, trying to defeat the boss in my play through last week. since I realized I will never beat the boss with my current build and my sucky gaming skills I needed to respec my character and replay the mission. is it just me or is there no "buy rent or wait for sale"?
