They all sound great...but damn, the G12M Greenbacks just have a certain sweetness to them that make them the speaker everything else is compared to. Nicely done!
Agree but I think the Creamback M65 also has that sweetness but a little bit smoother. For some it's too smooth and they like the extra bit of bite with the M25. I like both each has their perfect place. Mixing the M25 and M65 together is where it's at . Smooth but not too smooth.

I hate my T100. Incredibly fizzy. Clean is great though. I got a G12M65 coming in the mail, since my 40W amp would be a bit much for a greenback unfortunately.
@@221b-l3t Oh I see, ye I got the JCM 2000 DSL, and a 2x12 cab. I got the anniversary greenbacks so they're 30W each. Perfect match for me! I hope the speaker works out for you. c:
@@MangoMeoww Yeah I have the 401 cab, it only has one speaker, and the amp has a lot of low end and fizzy highs so a Creamback should take care of that. Eventually I'll get an SV20h with 2x greenbacks, maybe one creamback for a mix. It's been 15 years, I can justify a second amp :) I'll use it as a cab so I can spread out the cost of the mini Plexi.
One of the Best Comparison Videos I've seen in a while. I think the Greenbacks are the big Win for me. Love your Playing! I'm sure your technique also plays a huge factor in how the sound is being produced. Thank you!

Hey Euge. Nice choice on the CB-M75! My personal favorite so im biased. Recently, people X-Pattern V30's and CB's. Lastly, and I hate to be "that guy" but the 80s T-75's are better. Similar to the Chinese vs UK V30's argument. Love your vids as always man! \mm/ Thanks for the JCM800 tone tips :)
My favourite combinations here were creamback with the 800, vintage 30 with the 5150, greenback with the plexi (obviously!) and I liked the creamback best with the clean preamp.
MusiX is on the game with that type of deals and services. Best speaker shakedown I have ever seen, efficient and multi complex like real world. I have a 100W 59Handwired Plexi I always ran Ed Van Halens version of the greenback and greenbacks in my Marshall 1060BX. Until I got the Marshall Handwired 1960BHW Cabinet. I am using a single coil Fender Strat Custom Shop wireing and caps, so that plays in it too I bet. It has the G12H-30s. I agree with your gain scenarios. Excellent video.
I have a couple of 2 by 12s I use together and one has the Marshal vintage speakers and the the other has the Creamback M65s and they sound amazing together .

Can't help it but V30 just works for heavier music. Also greenbacks have this nice "chuck" while playing, like strings are a bit sticky. I have 4x12 cab and been thinking about replacing speakers so I can change between different speaker sounds. Is there a point or benefit soundwise leaving like 2x same speaker, or should I just straight put 4 different speakers and switch/mix between them?
Great comparison, my favourite overall was the Creamback. Which in general, seems often to be my favourite - with Victory V40 & Marshall JTM too. I like Alnico Gold that I upgraded my Vox AC30S1 too. I did think immediately when I heard the Plexi with the Greenback it just sounded right. I as planning to swop out the Greenback in my Vox AC15C1 for an Alnico Blue. So I think I'll keep the Greenback, maybe someday I'll get a Marshall SV20 to pair it with. I like Orange amps with V30s, they both have that gravelly rumble to them, which I guess chimes with what you were saying about V30s and high-gain tones.
I used to have a Marshall 4x12 with Vintage 30s that I liked however I ended up selling it because it was overkill for my needs! But when played loud sounded great!
Creambacks are the most vocal with all of the speakers. It has a very nice fidelity to it. The Greenbacks are made for Marshall. I wonder how the Greenback goes against a Creamback M 65.
I always use whatever's around at the studio. My fav is the EVM12 or the JBL120. I'm not that picky because I can always tweak the speaker in the mix. I hate the 7080 or 6080 is a cheapo speaker. I heard greenbacks sound better as a pair but again I'm not that selective and I have hearing in only one ear.
All of those Celestions sound incredible. Also, your riff is way cool as well and consistent for evaluation between these different speakers. I have a Marshall 1960 Lead Angle cabinet with two Mesa V30's and two G12H Creambacks in an X-pattern 16 Ohm. That combination is killer for 'Heavy' guitar sounds. Great video and awesome playing. Cheers!
@@johndesrosier1672 Howdy, the tone from pairing 'Mesa' version Vintage 30's with the 'Creamback' 75's is definitely great for hard rock/metal genre. Hi, Do you have a video on how you connect your Amps to cabs and the switcher you use? Also I have the same boss SD1. it introduces a lot of noise into the signal chain. Do you use something like a decimator within your rig as it's very quiet? Thanks.😊
Nice Comparison! I'm curious if you've ever gotten you hands on the Marshall Celestion Heritage G12H speaker? I see them come in the JVM combos and extension cabs but I've seen almost no direct comparisons of that with other speakers and few demos of it all. I'm really curious how they compare to the Marshall G12 Vintage.

Amazing video Eugue! …you are a guitar players best friend!! Thanks for the awesome comparison. …I always seem to like the greenback; can’t help it. All are good though!
Very cool. If you ever get your hands on a Celestion EVH speaker I would wholeheartedly recommend it. It's at least my favorite version of the Greenback!
Onko tuo G12H "Creamback" jollain tapaa sukua tälle G12H 30W Anniversary versiolle, joka on esiasennettuna EVH 2X12 kaapeihin? Mikäli sinulla on tietoa näistä, niin osaatko luonnehtia lyhyesti mikä ero noissa mahtaa olla äänimaiseman jne jne. kannalta? Kiitos!
Hey Euge, very nice video, very informative, talking about speakers I'd really love to have your opinion upon the Hesu Demon as a European challenger to the globally acclaimed Vintage 30 for metal sounds. Cheers keep up the good work!
I loved the greenback with the 1987x boosted the most. I think blending the creamback and greenback with any of the modern amps could sound great. The creamback clean was really good. The vintage sounds good in general but I’m just burnt out on the vintage sound so I always appreciate new speaker sounds. You should try some of the Eminence speakers if you’re able to get your hands on them, I love the Governor as a v30 alternative and the Wizard is another great speaker that doesn’t get nearly enough recognition. but I would imagine Celestion is just easier to get a hold of over there.
What’s up Euge! My mesa boogie TC50 combo has a LOT of midrange with its v30 (even with the mid eq at its minimum)… a creamback would attenuate it? Thanks and cheers from Brazil!
Nice job and sounds ! Thank's Euge for this great work ! I'd like to leasten with the Vintage 30, but I fall in love with the Cream Back. It has so munch punch and presence. With the C90 also and open and close test, but it's a real f... big job. Ref from the Road King witch has the best clear sound with the C90 open back for me. Merci encore. Love your sounds !
I have a Marshal JCM2000 TSL 100 amp and 2x12 Marshall cab which has the stock Seventy 80 speakers (not a fan). If you were to replace the 2 speakers what would you pair with that amp? can be 2 of the same or a mix
Marshall Vintage or good V30s ; sometimes Celestion V30s can be a bit spikey depending on the production run, but Marshall Vintages are solid made in UK by Celestion. But V30s can be great too; I have one Chinese made Celestion V30 and it’s great.
Great comparison, great video, great guy - again. Fun fact: check out what names RUclips's auto subtitle comes up with, when you say yours 😂 always different "El Governor"
You are my definite go-to when it comes to questions on guitars, amps and everything in between over all out there! And as always, it's a top-notch demonstration! The celestions all sounded great ! The creamback won it for me! Definitely greenback with Plexi !👍🤘
I really, really like the G12H-75 Creamback for high gain. It accentuates that mean 1kHz grind, which always reminds me of the good ol‘ Swedish DM sound.
My humble opinion: The Greenback sounded the most "metal," the Creamback sounded the most "classic rock" and the Marshall Vintage could do either. That's how I hear it on _this_ computer through _these_ headphones. I'm impressed with the Creambacks. I'm starting to think that a 4X12 with 2 65-watt M Creambacks and 2 75-watt H Creambacks in X formation might make a killer, well-balanced combination for heavy rock tones.
Hei euge, kokeiles uusia V30 kajareita?, SMG Studiolla ( Glenn Fricker) on niistä vähä videoo. Ois hyvä kuulla sinunkiin mielipide vanhana hardrock/hevi ukkona eikä ihan niin supersärösoittajana, et on gainit aina 11 :)
H Creambacks have become my go-to speaker recently in my DSL40, because they just do everything. - if I'm playing only high-gain then I'll probably fit a Classic Lead 80/an original 1986 T-75 (the old white label with no magnet vent) - if I'm playing only clean to mid-gain i.e. 70's style rock, I'll use a Marshall Heritage, or a H30 Anniversary if I can get away with a lower power amp - if I'll be playing a mixture of both, the H Creamback is capable of sounding just as good in all situations, especially if you're thoughtful with your pedal setup and amp channels. They really can't be beaten for versatility without compromising on sounding good A quick word on the T-75s, if you do want to give them another chance, you're more likely to have a better time with one of the original white label versions that came with the '80s JCM800 cabs (pre JCM900 before they went black label and then the modern black/white), they're a lot less hairy than the modern made speakers. Saying that, an SD-1 and a 5150 probably isn't the best way to compliment a T-75, they go better with Marshalls or a Mesa Boogie Mark with the 240Hz band scooped rather than 750Hz. I boost mine with a Blues Driver and a Mesa 5-band eq pedal. Also it's nice to see Guitar Mania getting some worldwide appreciation - I'm lucky enough that they're my local guitar shop, and the team in there really know their stuff, my Marshall label Creamback came from them.
I love the sound of the Greenback, it cuts so well. But being 25W means you always need either a full 4x12 cab, or to blend it with a higher rated speaker whenever you're using a 100W head. Creambacks sound great too, though a little scooped. The Marshall Vintage, by comparison, sounds muffled, like the presence knob was dialled waaay back. I would love to see the comparison of the blends; Vintage + Greenback, Vintage + Creamback, Creamback + Greenback.
The Creamback H is heavily influenced by the old G12H30 Greenbacks which gives it a Greenback flavor .

On this vidéo i prefer the creamback and the greenback.
But i think the Greenback is not the better in the mix , too scooped
I don't know why i see this video only now, but the greenbaks sounds best, then creamback and last v30 and i have onlt v30 cabs :(
The greenbacks sound the best to me, to me sequin essential Marshall sound of rock
Man I got a dv77 and v30 in a 2x12 and it's brutal . I do still wanna try those greenbacks because I love the tones you are getting. Maybe do a mesa cab with 1 dv77 1 v30 1 greenback and 1 creamback. Wonder how that would sound in a 4x12 mesa cab.
Best speaker comparison that I have seen so far, and, with the very accurate description of each speaker characteristics.
Great video man!!
Wow, thanks!
Amazing video Eugue! …you are a guitar players best friend!! Thanks for the awesome comparison. …I always seem to like the greenback; can’t help it. All are good though!
Thanks!
The Marshall Vintage is clearer and has killer low end....the rest sound hollow
Very cool. If you ever get your hands on a Celestion EVH speaker I would wholeheartedly recommend it. It's at least my favorite version of the Greenback!
I actually prefer the regular reissue Greenback to the EVH version.
Onko tuo G12H "Creamback" jollain tapaa sukua tälle G12H 30W Anniversary versiolle, joka on esiasennettuna EVH 2X12 kaapeihin? Mikäli sinulla on tietoa näistä, niin osaatko luonnehtia lyhyesti mikä ero noissa mahtaa olla äänimaiseman jne jne. kannalta? Kiitos!
Very cool shootout! How you keep track of the wiring and switching in there is amazing!
Thanks!
Hey Euge, very nice video, very informative, talking about speakers I'd really love to have your opinion upon the Hesu Demon as a European challenger to the globally acclaimed Vintage 30 for metal sounds. Cheers keep up the good work!
Scooped and bright. Don't like that speaker.
Do you have any cabinets with Eminence speakers, if so what speaker type?
They actually sound so different. My favorite is the Creamback. Very open and sweet sounding.
Hard to beat the Creamback H for clarity .
For me i really liked the vintage 30's and the Greenbacks the best. The Creamback was nice as well. Thanks man cool video.
Really digging those creambacks
Vintage sounded better for me.
The other 2 had too much highs.
Appreciate you Euge. Always really enjoy your vids brother. You have killer tones killer playing and you have a great ear.
Thanks!
What’s up Euge! My mesa boogie TC50 combo has a LOT of midrange with its v30 (even with the mid eq at its minimum)… a creamback would attenuate it? Thanks and cheers from Brazil!
Greenback or Creamback 65 most likely. Like you heard the Creamback 75 has lots of mids 👌.
Great video and bad ass riff! I bought vintage 30s after watching this. Pairing with a JCM800 2203x with a Legendary Tones HotMod v2 EVO
Cool! Thanks!
Thanks! Really glad to hear!
V30s sing. I like them the most.
I like how you demonstrated the interaction with the chorus pedals and the speaker. I love how the V-30's sound with the Boss Chorus Pedal.
Thanks!
Yep 😎.
Greenbacks for the win !
You are my definite go-to when it comes to questions on guitars, amps and everything in between over all out there! And as always, it's a top-notch demonstration! The celestions all sounded great ! The creamback won it for me! Definitely greenback with Plexi !👍🤘
Thanks man! Really glad to hear!
Nice comparison Euge....I personally like the Greenback most. It sounds in my ears most even and heavy without fuzzy tones and muffle subs
Thanks!
G12M-25 best speaker ever.
Can i change only one speaker of a 2x12 Blackstar cabinet? Even if the Green back is only 25w?
Yeah if the ohms match 👌.
I really, really like the G12H-75 Creamback for high gain. It accentuates that mean 1kHz grind, which always reminds me of the good ol‘ Swedish DM sound.
🤟
My humble opinion: The Greenback sounded the most "metal," the Creamback sounded the most "classic rock" and the Marshall Vintage could do either. That's how I hear it on _this_ computer through _these_ headphones.
I'm impressed with the Creambacks. I'm starting to think that a 4X12 with 2 65-watt M Creambacks and 2 75-watt H Creambacks in X formation might make a killer, well-balanced combination for heavy rock tones.
Well, that's a badass riff.
Thanks! It’s from one of the songs from my forthcoming third solo album.
Hei euge, kokeiles uusia V30 kajareita?, SMG Studiolla ( Glenn Fricker) on niistä vähä videoo.
Ois hyvä kuulla sinunkiin mielipide vanhana hardrock/hevi ukkona eikä ihan niin supersärösoittajana, et on gainit aina 11 :)
Kokeiltu. Mulla on yks sellanen siinä Vintage kaapissa: ruclips.net/video/5nDZvNjI8Io/видео.htmlsi=u5k9h2ZIHrW-KkI9
I like Marshall's v30 for jcm , h75 for 5150, and greenies for plexi . V30 is not my cup , but marshall ones are great
H Creambacks have become my go-to speaker recently in my DSL40, because they just do everything.
- if I'm playing only high-gain then I'll probably fit a Classic Lead 80/an original 1986 T-75 (the old white label with no magnet vent)
- if I'm playing only clean to mid-gain i.e. 70's style rock, I'll use a Marshall Heritage, or a H30 Anniversary if I can get away with a lower power amp
- if I'll be playing a mixture of both, the H Creamback is capable of sounding just as good in all situations, especially if you're thoughtful with your pedal setup and amp channels. They really can't be beaten for versatility without compromising on sounding good
A quick word on the T-75s, if you do want to give them another chance, you're more likely to have a better time with one of the original white label versions that came with the '80s JCM800 cabs (pre JCM900 before they went black label and then the modern black/white), they're a lot less hairy than the modern made speakers.
I like my 2204's with 65w Creambacks, my 2500 SL-X I prefer Greenbacks. With my Mesa I like 75w Creambacks.
This tone is the anti-Johann 😵
I liked thevH creamback and the V30 the best. I think a blend of those two would be great! I plan on trying that in my Marshall 2x12 cab.
I would love to see the comparison of the blends; Vintage + Greenback, Vintage + Creamback, Creamback + Greenback.
can you try with a Gibson ?
For Marshalls...I prefer the original Vintage (original V30 speaker). Same as for Peavey. Best tone for me!
On point Euge.......On point brother...
🙏👌
On the Marshalls I like the GT12H 75 Watt. On the 5150 the Vintage. Cool video. 👍
