  • With EQ Power as its technical designation, the latest electric model in the Mercedes-Benz range to be destined for subsequent series production is doubly electrifying, for as a world first, it is set to combine innovative fuel-cell and battery technology into a fully electric plug-in hybrid. Thanks to F-CELL technology, the only local emissions are water vapour.
    Compared to the preceding generation, the fuel cell system is 30 percent more compact and for the first time fits into a conventional engine compartment. Further improvements over the BClass F-CELL: 40 percent more drive power and 90 percent less platinum. The weight is also around 25 percent lower.
    Thanks to around 350 Nm of torque and an output of around 147 kW, the pre-series model of the GLC F-CELL offers plenty of driving pleasure. Operating ranges are 437 km in H2 mode (NEDC in HYBRID mode, measures in the presence of TÜV) and 49 km in battery-electric mode (NEDC in BATTERY mode). Thanks to 700 bar tanking technology, the GLC F-CELL is refuelled in around three minutes.

    A good demonstration of engineering. Yes, but where to take hydrogen? This is the problem! It was easy with the oil: put the pipe in the ground and the energy came to freeze.

    • @tom___258
      @tom___258 6 лет назад

      darie99 just use electric energy to cut of the oxygen from water (simple explanation)

    • @Ezalian
      @Ezalian 6 лет назад

      It's from water... through electrolysis, or if it's from natural gas, through gasification.

    • @darie99
      @darie99 6 лет назад +1

      Are you children? Because if you are children, you have to know that the energy required to break the water molecule is the same as that given to you by hydrogen in the water. If you want to make hydrogen with solar or wind energy then you have to know that hydrogen at the bearer is a bomb. So things are more complicated, yes.

    If you have Fusion Reactors or Thorium Reactors (unlimited electrical energy) then why bother with a fuel cell. Instead a regular engine (ICE) can burn the fuel.

  • @SiiliViin
    @SiiliViin 6 лет назад +2

    Yeah, at moment I see fuel-cell is only alternative for gasoline engines, but as we see in video, it generates huge amount of water. Now imagine millions of cars on road and you will never see sun again, weather is constantly cloudy and rainy. Also roads are always wet. It has also its own negative side.

    • @martinroswall5892
      @martinroswall5892 6 лет назад +1

      Dude... have you even thought this through before commenting? Some water coming from the pipe will not make the whole world to become a rainforest, like seriously not even by millions of cars... Second thing: you believe the only way to mount a pipe is to put it at the rear? Not that I believe that it will make any difference, have you ever lived in a country with real winter you know what I'm talking about.

    • @SiiliViin
      @SiiliViin 6 лет назад +2

      What you talking about? I think, you haven't think about this. Thousands of cars, generating tons of water day by day, do you know, of what clouds are made? Especially cold weather, this make roads more slippery also. If you think of millions of cars and every car generates several litres water, this is huge amount of water and this all goes into air and soil, so it will be more cloudy and soil is moist all the time. At moment internal combustion engines generates only gramms of co2 and this is problem. Imagine, same amount cars generate several litres of water and it become even bigger problem as water steam have same effect as other sun blocking gases.

    • @701983
      @701983 6 лет назад

      @SiiliViin: Gasoline cars produce nearly the same amount of water per mile.
      If you burn 1 kg of gasoline, you get 1,4 kg of water (vapor).
      The only real difference to hydrogen cars is the temperature and the aggregate phase of the water exhaust.

      Necromancing, ik. I'm no car enthusiast. But I just got really confused at what ya talking about... You're comenting on a video about Hydrogen, and you complain of "I like the feeling of internal combustion engine." Dude... A hydrogen engine is still fully Internal Combustion Engine. It still will explode, vibrate, and rumble. Just with water, instead of dirty gasoline. First of all, you can make the fuel at home (debateable, but true). And second, you contribute to a healthier living standard and life, by changing what fuel you use. I don't think you really know what "Internal Combustion Engine" means, or you didn't think well before comenting.
